Interesting, apparently the main building in Huntsman's Copse is inspired in the Tequendama Falls Hotel in Colombia

Hmm. So far the bosses have been cake. I'm now in Lost Bastille and saw a fog gate there and tons of warning messages so I decided to do some more exploring before engaging. Got my Berserk sword, knight armor set, feeling like a general badass. I've got a pretty solid Strength build going, up to 28 now.

Haha, uh oh.

Isn't it kinda difficult to get there before the wharf though?
I am playing really slow and I get a lot of souls helping people on areas long before I finally engage myself and do the area solo. I really enjoy breaking sequence as much as possible in the Souls series....I knew it was a little out of sequence to go down the
well
, but I raised my vigor a bit, threw on the
Cat
ring and went down there that way before beating
DragonRider
. I tried to push through the
gutter
even but turned back and boned out when I got poisoned so easily. I still have to do
Dragonslayer
yet. I am really trying hard to find that
McDuff
ember for the blacksmith and pushing hard to find it before killing too many bosses solo. I thought if I pushed hard through the
wharf
that it might get back to the Bastille; it did but no ember. Don't tell me, I know I have to keep going. I have engaged
The sinner, sentinels, dragonslayer, Chariot and Skeleton Lord
but havent beat any of them solo in my world yet, just co-op.

Cool and Congrats...it would appear its tough to do a pure mage build this time no?

might wanna spoiler some of those bosses bud.

It's not too tough really as some boss fights do take heavy damage from it but it is more balanced this time around and can't cheese everything away like you could on Dark Souls 1. I dont really go for pure sorcerer because I like having options on my character tbh but you can manage if you play it smart.

sorry I had them highlight for spoil but it was an error for sure. Hope Sir Grifith can edit his post as well?

Thanks, I am starting a new pure mage/faith/dark/pyro character. i dont want my pretty much mellee and pyro only character to spoil the whole mage playthrough so I am going to do simultaneous runs and see which character gets to do which area first one at a time....battle mage is an option too I guess.

I've checked yesterday and I've already died 67 times, and I'm not at the end yet. I wonder how does it compare to the average Gaf death ratio.

Methinks your first real battle is about to begin.

Oh, and I like the music during that fight. :D

Dragon remnants pvp is brilliant. Guys standing behind you as you spawn in, looking for easy backstabs. Soul spear is fucking deadly with witchtree branch leveled up and infused with magic. 800 dmg per hit and 200 casting speed is faster than a greatsword lol.

Going to equip sun ring and ring of thorns for the backstab campers lol.

Game is honestly brilliant. Str/int build was slow going at first. Level 95 at the endgame.

Questions about Milfanito.
So, after beating the Demon of Song on my first try with a summon who died as soon as the demon blinked (I know right, I'm a total badass) I went back to Drangleic Castle to free one of the sisters. Then I returned to Shrine of Amana via the elevator from Undead Crypt, turned left, proceeded up some tower and eventually found a Milfanito sister. But she's not the one I freed apparently. Is the one I freed hanging out in Amana somewhere and is there any point to finding her? I really hate traversing that area.
Also what was the deal with that one lady before the boss fog who seemed a bit more tattered?

This is probably just me, but I appreciate how drab some of the areas look. I was thinking of giving King's Field a shot because of the environments but won't have to because somehow some of that atmosphere is here, in some places. I don't mean it in a bad way at all.

You should still try King's Field. It's a pretty atmospheric series, and you can see a lot of what made that show up in each Souls titles.

I can see where you look for the overall online deaths but where does the game tell me just how many times I've died? Also I can't say this enough, the soundtrack in this game is excellent. Been listening to the OST for days now.

Anyway, before I head back into battle I want to say this game is awesome. My current character Xienfeng is by far my favourite of the series. I know the
Twinblade
may get old fast, but not yet....just loving the guard break/stun lock it causes combined with stone ring. I dont have the stats to dual wield yet but cant wait!

Who thought it was a good idea to spread the last half of the game all over the map and expect the players to remember the odd ball locations to access memories?

I would have never rediscovered these locations without a guide or YouTube.

I think you can go offline and the same thing will say how many deaths you have had.

---

Question, after beating the final boss, does the game play the credits after the ending and it goes immediately into NG+? Or is there free roam afterwards?

Oh yeah. I enjoyed the music too. I don't like that most of the tracks have been cut in half or so though. I mean, the soundtrack is over 70 minutes and I guess they wanted to have all the songs in there, so they had to cut down the length, but still, I can tell some songs were just getting more awesome before they finished. :(

At least we got the ending song in its entirety. :D

I checked after I finished the game on my first character and had 78. Fighting optional bosses and exploring has brought me to 99.

I'm trying to think of a spectacular way to go out for the big break into the triple digits.

If you look at the overall counter while offline it will show onlu your deaths.

There's free roam. You start ng+ at Majula bonfire after defeating final boss

Cool find, played through the area today and I can see the influence.

Defeated (Huntsman boss)
Skeleton Lords
earlier today, such an easy fight! On the other hand both (Bastille sub-areas)
Belfry Gargoyles
and
Lost Sinner
are kicking my ass.
Actually got gargoyles down to the last two on my first try but didn't fare nearly as well on later tries, boss is definitely doable solo though.

Will probably explore Huntsman more and possibly exploring the area after it before trying those bosses again.

There's free roam. You use the bonfire in Mejula to initiate NG+.

Rarely have I felt cheated in a Souls game. But,
Shrine of Amana
is pure bullshit. I mean, talk about unfair.

where can I find a magic shield?

where can I find a magic shield?
Some dudes in the area
after this one
drop a shield with 95% magic block. XD From be trollin'.

I didn't have that many issues in this area myself because
I had a very good bow. I suggest using ranged attacks. Maybe a crossbow if you're low dex?

Just finished Shr
ine of Amana
, what an entrancing area.
And that boss was just bizarre, I like it.

^haha

That boss was creepy. Oh, and
one of those mage girls doesn't attack you if you take out her "guards" first. When you approach her, she looks scared a starts moving backwards.
I let her live. :D

where can I find a magic shield?

the guardians in front of medusa's lair
dropped one that's either 80 or 70% -
the mirror shield probably is perfect against magic (I'm guessing you get from the knight's boss soul)

I've seen so many people die to the chest right before Covetous Demon while trying to level sunbros. Even taken to trying to physical block people out of that room and chest with my shield to let them know its a bad idea.

Yeah, just finished that area as well, nearly made me throw my controller against the wall... I was stubbornly trying without a bow for more than an hour untill I gave up and stocked up on some Iron arrows. The upside to that was that I'm now goig to use my bow more often, it's a fun way of playing and equiping it keeps my equip load just below 70%.

Good. I can stand for some epic despair. It's been too long since Ornstein & Smough! I've never had to summon help before so let's see what happens. I'm actually working on upping my stamina beforehand for that mashing rolling action full of sheer terror. I gotta say, getting DS2 right before spring break has been pretty damn incredible.

I've checked yesterday and I've already died 67 times, and I'm not at the end yet. I wonder how does it compare to the average Gaf death ratio.
Lol mine was over 400 when I finished. I had a lot of trouble soloing some of the bosses, and I did do all the optional content (that I'm aware of anyway).

Kinda confused. I'm in
Drangleic Castle
and there's a room full of statues which
come alive and attack you. Killing the two sets on the left opens up 2 doors with a giant knight inside. I killed both of those, then killed the rest of the enemies in the room.
What now? Is there anything else in here?

There are some lockstone contraptions that only pour out water or poison. What do these do?

Some of them are traps, others are used to help get chests in the
lava in Iron Keep. When you walk into the water, your fire resistance goes sky high for a minute or so which lets you walk on the lava for a bit longer.
Also, the water slowly refills your HP.

Got to Iron Keep. Cool looking area, and also the lava isn't making my eyes bleed
:P

Before I did this I used an Ascetic at the Forest and summoned Pate for the Last Giant fight. I beat the boss with Pate alive, then I talked to him at Earthen Keep. He gave me his armor set, including Ring of Thorns.

Really disappointed with heavy armor and strength in this game. Completely useless in PvP because poise doesn't do anything against player characters, and underwhelming in PvE. Several boss encounters so far have just straight up had unblockable attacks that kill you in one hit. A lot of them require fast movement and dodging. Whoops, you're wearing heavy armor, you can't do that.

I can take my armor off and dodge the whole fight, but really what's the point of my build then? I've had to do this on three of the major bosses so far, and it's a real bummer.

3/4 old souls the last boss at iron keep is whooping my ass hes just to intimidating.
my first real struggle yet. ive resolved to clearing the enemies from the level until they quit spawning so anyone i summon can come through no problem.

lost
5 phantoms in a row to the ironclad dudes who smash the bridge piece out. like lemmings they just fall
