Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

So I got 3 of the 4 old souls. I don't have any areas left I haven't explored. Where do I go?

Did you unlock I guess the huntsmancorpse ? The area from the beta. cause that where I got stuck at earlier in the game.

Some of them are traps, others are used to help get chests in the
lava in Iron Keep. When you walk into the water, your fire resistance goes sky high for a minute or so which lets you walk on the lava for a bit longer.
Also, the water slowly refills your HP.

Holy shiiiit I didn't know that. Thanks.

I'm taking it pretty slow, exploring and grinding some zones. I'm level 84 already and have only beat one of the four major bosses. Where do I go to farm weapon upgrades or access a merchant that sells them? I used up all the titanate I could get so far. I just opened up the area with the guys with the huge nut sacks and the huntsman area.

Is it possible to block the hits from (late-game boss spoilers):
Demon of Song
? His charge/ram attack seems to bypass everything, and the same when he's flailing around with his arms.

Anyone know how to join the
Brotherhood of Blood
Covenant? I keep being told I
won't "like it" there,
and nothing else.

Some dudes in the area
after this one
drop a shield with 95% magic block. XD From be trollin'.

I didn't have that many issues in this area myself because
I had a very good bow. I suggest using ranged attacks. Maybe a crossbow if you're low dex?

the guardians in front of medusa's lair
dropped one that's either 80 or 70% -
the mirror shield probably is perfect against magic (I'm guessing you get from the knight's boss soul)

Thanks. I'll try these tips.

I blew like 25K worth of souls on poison arrows. I'm gonna get the shield now.

The enemy placement, and homing soul arrows really piss me off. It's really unfair how fast they can cast. I watched their animation, it's almost impossible to interrupt the cast as well.

Sun Sword is no joke it perfect long sword great move set and that A scaling with both STR and Dex.

Worth being a sunbro just for that sword

Who thought it was a good idea to spread the last half of the game all over the map and expect the players to remember the odd ball locations to access memories?

I would have never rediscovered these locations without a guide or YouTube.

I loved it actually - starting to piece together all of the different things. All of those doors that left me wondering 'whats behind you?' - re-treading old ground as also started another interesting event or two.
Who knew the Miracle girl was a Traitor?

Also - talk to the NPC's in Town, many of them give hints on where to go next. The cat that deals with Covenants drops quite a few hints that point you in the right direction.

There are 2 vendors that sell titanite and large titanite shards. Their names are
McDuff who can be found in Lost Bastille
and
Stone Trader Chloanne who can be found in Harvest Valley. She later moves to Majula.

Just put your shield up and kinda hug his right armpit, worked for me, and then you can come around and get 2 or 3 hits before he puts his "hood" back on.

Reposting, if someone can answer me x)

Guys, I just reached Dr
angleic Castle. I still have 3/4 old souls, its the last one there? because the girl from Majula says that Im not ready, so maybe Im not in the good way
?

Is the
dragonrider
bow any good when upgraded? I am a strength build and don't think I can spend points into attunement, faith or intelligence to use pyromancy, spells or miracles/hexes so I'm thinking of using a bow for long range.

I dunno about the other two, but this is certainly true, they tend to come in packs. For DS I don't really think this is great encounter design either, DS has always excelled at one on one combat and mobs are just... the worst. There is hardly any crowd control so it's somewhat unfair.
Yeah, part of why I loved Demon's Souls and Dark Souls was that generally if you were careful you wouldn't get in over your head, but it's kind of easy to do so here because of the frequency of packs, who will usually collectively aggro if you try to draw off just one. And of tougher enemies too, not just cheap hollow fodder.

I actually feel this might be partially an MP design though, because the most effective means of crowd control is to counter with your own crowd.

Anywhere to farm titanite shards after the green "goblins" in harvest valley? Ran out and haven't unlocked the NPC who sells an infinite amount of them yet.

If not I might have to use my first bonfire asthetic.

You need proof of a successful invasion called a token of spite. I found one, I forget where, without invading anybody.

I don't have it upgraded, but as a STR build, it's a godsend. Scales off of STR and has range similar to the longbow.

Highly recommended.

You can find one in the chest at the bottom of the well right before you enter The Gutter.

You should actually have all 4 as you need them to open the path to the castle.

Maybe you used one if not no clue

I have

The Rotten, The Lost Sinner and the Iron King, I dont think I used an old soul. I could enter to the castle just fine after gotting a key from a petrified montser, even went inside and spook with a ghostly dude. I think Im missing a old boss in the Shaded Woods but I dunno...

Can someone explain to me what causes the doors in the basement area (by the first bonfire) of
Drangleic Castle to open?
I opened 2 of the 6 doors the first time... couldn't figure out how to make the others open, so I reset enemies at the bonfire, then killed the enemies again in a different order, and another door opened. Not sure what the idea is here.

How do you access further areas in Be
lfry Sol
? I've been summoned further in, but haven't been able to get there in my game.

You have to kill enemies by the doors.

kill enemies near the doors for their souls to be asborbed, similar to how you got into the castle originally

Ahh I know who missing but to get to castle entrance is normally locked. When you go up to door it says something like gather more powerful souls. No key needed.

You correct about one thing need check out shaded wood more

I see some people saying the death count. I know how to check the total for everyone but is there a way to check your death count?

Am I supposed to go after the
Pursuer
after
Last Giant
(early game)? Seems pretty hardcore compared to the
Giant.

Did you beat
Dukes Dear Freja
? That's one of the great souls but it just doesn't look like the other ones in your inventory so you might not be seeing it.

Well, its weird then, because I could go to the first bonfire inside there without a problem.

Will look around anyways, thanks !

No, I didnt

Interesting, apparently the main building in Huntsman's Copse is inspired in the Tequendama Falls Hotel in Colombia

Love it! Is there a site that summarizes all of the places they drew inspiration from? Souls pilgrimage time!

Someone may have answered this already, does anyone know what you get if you kill
the Pursuer the first time he appears in your game world, when the Griffon drops him down on the ledge

I went back to Ghost Ship area and used a Pharros Lockstone thinking there was some grand treasure. What a waste of a lockstone. That area was the easiest area I've been able to solo thus far.

I did, and realize in retrospect that it was a mistake. You can beat him at that point but you're really putting undo stress on yourself. You do get some pretty decent gear for beating him though, which might make it worth it to kill him early.

Well, here's my guy who has reached the final area. My friend doesn't like my defence numbers. (His are nearly half of mine!)
Swapped the Greatsword for the Pursuer's Greatsword because I think it looks better with this armorset. I'll probably have to make a lower level Guts character sometime.

You should still try King's Field. It's a pretty atmospheric series, and you can see a lot of what made that show up in each Souls titles.
I've looked at some walkthrough and speedrun videos of each game and they seem antiquated and scary as fuuuuck. And it is very easy to see how they arrived at Souls. I think I will play one of them eventually, but that day is a few years in the future.

Hmm, I'm having quite a bit of trouble with fighting
Hollow King Vendrick
. He has so much health and does so much damage, but I think the thing that's really killing me is the range he has.

I've been through there twice and never found where the Pharros Mechanism is, even though I know what it does :lol
