That said, is it really that impossible to roll with an awesome STR weapon, just have some more respectable light armour? I wear the lightest armour I have found the lightest armour I could find in early game anyway, and likely wont take it off much.

I'm a complete tank, and I fast roll. All of my armor stats are over 1000. My Gyrm armor set is almost all +10. I'm wearing the
2nd dragon ring
,
Royal Soldier's Ring
, and I keep my equip weight under 70%. No bosses can 1-hit kill me.

And I rock a Black Knight Ultra Greatsword & a Gyrm greatshield.

They definitely did not nerf tanks if you know how to build right.

You can trade them to certain NPC's for boss weapons..

oh, is that all? Because I already looked up what the boss weapon related to that particular soul was and decided I had no interest, as it's not a weapon type I use. I got scared and thought I needed them to access the endgame or something like that... XD

Thanks.

ok i think this is kind of fucked
I drop down a ledge in Dragon Aerie and get an item and there is no way back up
lol, I killed myself.

Omg the great club absolutely wrecks faces. I respecced and left dex at 4, pumped strength to 28 and equipped it. I've not even levelled it yet. Let's see what a lightning great club is like!

I have no idea where to go next.

I just finished
talking with Nashandra at Drangleic Castle and killing the twin Dragonriders. After that I went up a ladder and circled by way around the castle, ending back up at the same bonfire but from a different hall. There's a locked door and a lever I can't pull so I'm unsure of what direction to head in.

Question about the (midgame ring spoilers) S
econd
D
ragon
R
ing
(aka Ring of Favor and Protection 2: Electric Boogaloo). Now that you can repair all broken equipment, including rings, does that mean you can take of the ring with only a minor penalty (i.e. the soul cost of repairing the ring)? Or does it break forever?

I rolled an alt, a pure dex character, (without the str to use the drangleic shield, I haven't found any 100% shield, so it's challenging compared to my other chars for that reason) and I got my first red invasion. I was just starting bastille, around level 50 (I think 49), and I got invaded. I wasn't afraid of a fight, so I waited to see who showed up.

A phantom decked out in full havels that I couldn't damage and who would do 1/4 of my health per hit through my shield blocks showed up.

I don't mind getting ganked, but in this case I lost my human form to it, and given the finite nature of effigies, it's pretty annoying having an invincible twink show up and destroy you.

My first time through the area I got invaded right as
I dropped down to that area.
I hugged the wall and just sat there until the invader timed out. Thrill a minute, that was.

And
you didn't need to kill yourself. The Aged Feather the Emerald Herald gives you at the entrance to that place is an infinite use Homeward Bone. You can just use it to return to the bonfire there after dropping down to an inescapable ledge.

I don't think I've used a single human effigy yet, got just over 30 of them I think. Once I got the ring of binding it didn't seem that big of a deal. What would you need them for when playing online, just co-op?

Wait til you get the
Ring of Life Protection
- effigies become even more obsolete. Odd design choice. But you know, as they say, "if you don't like it don't use it".

I use it.

I've looked at some walkthrough and speedrun videos of each game and they seem antiquated and scary as fuuuuck. And it is very easy to see how they arrived at Souls. I think I will play one of them eventually, but that day is a few years in the future.

I played through King's Field (USA) and KF: IV in the past four months as part of getting hyped for DkS 2 and while they are ancient and the controls are very weird (pre-analog stick fps weird), they are amazingly great games once you get over the initial weirdness of slow turning and awkward controls. In fact, a couple hours in I was zipping around just fine. They both have fantastic Dark Souls style twisty maps that fold in on themselves.

Highly recommended to any souls fan who likes the atmosphere and exploration aspects and can handle playing a game with 20 year old 3d graphics.

Wait, wot. I thought by the description that would be a one time use.

lol, had no idea it had unlimited uses.

Any sorcerer builds nearing the end of the game? I'm wondering what your stats looked like near the end of NG?

Just beat
The Lost Sinner.
Wasn't too difficult (I did die a handful of times before I got the timing of casting down). I may drop a soapstone to help others here.

knowing how to build right = having gear that's unobtainable where I am in the game currently? -_-

Lightning Greatclub +10 with 28STR/50FTH. Ugnnnnnnn.

1 hitting like a truck. My Lightning Dragon Chime +1 is coming along nicely as well.

I like how the greatsword design is basically Guts' dragonsword from Berserk.

FROM are HUGE Berserk fans, this series is a love letter to it. So many references to the series.

So, I'm reading on reddit that the Soul Memory limit appears to be removed in NG+, according to some streamer (Peeve Peeverson) who tested and was able to invade people with millions of souls less than in soul memory.
It might be old (posted one day ago), but it was new to me and hopefully some more people.

Bueno.

Has the community come up with an agreed upon SL? Still 120, or 150, 200?

Okay so I'm in
Huntsman's Corpse?
I believe, and I just got up to the bridge and killed
a red phantom guarding Undead Burg? Is there a boss right ahead? Should I go across the other metal bridge I lowered with the lever before first?
I'm scared

There's a boss behind that, yeah. If you got that far anyway it should be fine.

That leads to a boss and a dead end and the pvp convenant... the other leads to a big chain of areas. I'd say the boss ahead of you is easier.

edit: Is PSN down? Even so I beat the spider in first try.. thank you summoned npc. Think I'm overleveled at this point, finally finding a sword and upgrading it all the way helped tremendously too. Stuff that'd take 2-3 whacks takes 1 now.

How much damage are you hitting for, usually?

On top of belfry sol which I've just reached I was 2hand attacking for 743. Managed into the 800s on the knights in iron keep. Dunno if the blue guys on the roof (rat covenant protectors?) have some more resistance.

Edit: Makes that 900s actually. Done a backstab for just shy of 1500 as well.

There is one past that fog gate. As far as the other metal bridge goes, there's a bonfire there shortly after and a few more areas to explore before an additional boss. I wouldn't say that either of them were particularly difficult.

130-140 feels like the sweet spot.
You can't specialize in everything, but still able to maximize in your expertise with a decent normalize universal stats.

But I would go with 150 in the end.
150 is ideal though since you can increase your VIG/VIT a bit more.
