Well yeah, I wanted to know about humor and hidden gags, about POV implementation, about storytelling, and such. But some kids seemingly can't take an even slightly critical question from who people who are supposedly critics.

You didn't rike it. You didn't rike it at all. :(

Why are luxerious resorts needed for enthusiests to play the game? I could review MGS4 in a cardboard box without sleep or complimentary blowjobs. Hell, that would make me focus on the game itself and not all the other bullshit going on.

If Shawn and Shane ever blow up on eachother on the show, please don't edit it out. Any week now it seems... :P

You'll hear a clatter from someone throwing their headset off and then " YARRRRR FINAL FANTASY YARRRRR COMPANY OF HEROES!!!"

Seriously though, you should force eachother to play these games.

shawn elliott, you shall be marked as public enemy #1 until you stop soiling kojimasan's honor

In response to Shawn asking why they keep making a land based nuke launcher, well (just to be safe)
Arsenal Gear in MGS2 was essentially a giant fortress that moved through water that carried a huge payload of nukes and other various bombs. Even Metal Gear Ray (which is the anti-metal gear metal gear, which isnt strapped with a nuke) can move within water.

No way. I like Shane and I think he likes me. As the song goes, sometimes we just disagree.

Great mgs talk. Don't let the haters get to you Shawn. Your questions led to some interesting answers. Like sixaxis boob fondling.

WTF?! They took out codec, thats one of the best aspects of MGS3. How do we get interesting details on random crap. What about having a ton of easter eggs hidden in the codec messages. MGS4 better have as many hidden objects, easter eggs as MGS3. To this day I still find new things in MGS3 and a big part of that is just messing with the codec.

BOOurns.

It's Metal Gear. It's going to have easter eggs. Did you preorder yet?

Great podcast. Shane appeared to be very excited about MGS4. Good to hear.

Shawn's real passionate about the whole knowing your position thing. Sounded like he was about to explode into a tangent at times. :lol

Yeah, I am kind of an insane MGS fan. I mean MGS3 levels of easter eggs.

Anyway, so how are boss hints going to be managed, are they just going to spill everything out for you forcefully?

But as some of us have been pointing out for years, land-based and sea-based mobile launchers have been in existence for decades, so why would Metal Gear change the balance of power? If I remember, Ohio-class subs can carry ~24 Trident II missiles each with ~8 MIRV warheads. Why would you build a highly expensive Metal Gear when you already have a highly mobile and diffused nuclear force? The premise of Metal Gear is silly.

because fighting a bipedal robot is much better than fighting a sub.

That's how the whole conversation felt, I wanted Shawn to shut up for at least one minute. We know it is a whole PR thing and we know that Kojima and co probably want to have some journalists to play test it, but the real meat is the actual experience.

I get the feeling Shawn is going to blow up at Shane for probably no reason. Maybe because Shane likes non-pc games, non-fps game or maybe he likes Japanese games more.

When it was Luke and Shane, they worked well off each other, Shawn sounds like he likes talking down to Shane.

That's how Shawn rolls. I thought it he was condescending at first, but it's just the way he is.

Shane just basically confirmed ZoE3.

Hopefully, but the critics will be up in arms if Kojima works on a popular title people like. Kojima must do something different, or he will be branded for making games people want.

Personally I like Kojima to make a PS3/PSP title that works with the remote play.

Its just disgusting, "Well shane i guess you cannot review mgs4" oh now nice Shawn.

I didn't even like how he spoke to John on the last podcast about PC games. I guess it is the way Shawn comes off on people when he talks down to them.

Shawn, I like that you're looking into how other journalists do their job but please let them speak more next time when they have something to tell.
He's not reviewing it, no worries, let he speak his mind.

PS! For the detractors below, I love Shawns participation in his podcasts, I just thought this segment in particular he got too obtrusive.

what'd he say?

its a joke based on how he hinted that Kojima was already planning on working on a game after MGS4 or something.

Which I must admit is highly original for a Japanese game.

it is kind of original in the sense that you are a guy with a missile launcher fighting the robot.

more 4 minute warnings (dont listen to shane) and invite Brad back for it.

I just have to add that Brad should drop by and do another podcast after he's played some games. I feel that he has a wealth of knowledge and opinions which we haven't heard yet. Twist his arm, Garnett. Make him stay!

Can't send codec calls?

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??!!!?!?!

?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111

No, please say that isn't true :(

Shawn Hate is the new Shane hate on 1up yours threads.

Not really. I just wanted to hear more about MGS4 without interruption. I'm sure if Shawn kept interrupting Milky when he was talking about going to play the new starcraft game some people would be upset.

And Brad should be a regular on a podcast. I really like hearing his thoughts on games. Its been a long time since I listened to a gamespot podcast so listening to the giant bomb and brad here brings back memories. Brad needs to be a regular on the giant bomb or 1up yours.

If you want a monologue, just read his preview. Shane was on a tight rope as it was, straining to talk around the points he was allowed to. Shawn was a welcome break from continuous vague phrases about how awesome this awesome game is going to be. I understand why he can't be specific, but there's only so much of it that you need to hear. It gets old.

I lost it when he mentioned the Konami PR request to frame the review experience and Shane was basically following it word-for-word. :lol

Shawn doesn't come off as talking down to people imo. He seems to elevate the discussion and try to bring up more serious, interesting issues that the regular circle-jerk. I like that.

It is obvious that Shawn is a fan of the Metal Gear games and he was just digging for info. He brought up a a lot of good points too, I think that a bunch of people are just looking for a reason not to like him.
