I know there's at least a few weapons that hurt you when you attack. One is a katana but I don't recall the name.

In previous souls games the items that damaged you with each hit only worked when you actually did damage to an enemy. So that wouldn't work in this situation.

Yup, that is what I have been trying. (8 tries so far) but he eventually does the fly up into the air and most of the time I can run away but then like you said if he is too close to the edge its a done deal.

My question still stands: are there any items that drain my health steadily so I can get myself to under 20% HP easily to trigger the red tearstone ring?

Poison yourself with dung pie, use poison moss to cure poison? Might be a bit expensive depending on how many souls you have.

Haha, thats a good idea. Souls aren't a problem. But does any merchant even sell poison moss and dung pile? Having to farm a ton of those items doesn't sound viable.

It didn't in the original DS and I see no reason it should in this one.
Bugger... no idea whats going on... her sign isnt on the ground and I am definately human.... also have not joined the covenant that stops you summoning people... very annoying as I am going for the achievement to get her equipment

Gavlan (doors of pharros) sells moss, the rat king sells dung pies.
Important to note that first he's in
the Wharf, then he moves to Harvest Valley, then finally settles down near the start of Doors of Pharros.
Kinda hightlighted the fun with when Dark Souls is early and fresh for most people though, people were swearing this was your ONE CHANCE to sell stuff when he was just moving around.

Loving Iron Keep. And I am enjoying playing offline, not knowing what's around the corner because the orange messages aren't telling me every little thing. I'm considering staying offline for whenever I explore new areas just so I can have that tension. Then when I want to pvp and do the online stuff I'll just sign back on.

Edit: Oh you're in the
wharf
...

It would be extremely stupid for them to not allow npc summons offline.

Nvm just realised you caught your mistake. I might just restart and see what happens. That whole area is bad luck for me, in my new game plus the ship glitched out and apparwently is an unfixable bug

When Gavlan moves to the Pharros Doors I think he sells unlimited moss. Don't know about dung pies.

Anyway, the trick to avoiding the fire breath when he's in the air is to watch his tail and always run towards it. When he's about to take off start running forward, and then turn in which ever direction his tail turns so you can keep moving towards it. If it looks like he's turning his tail towards the edge and there's no room to run just sprint to either side of the room - anywhere but the direction his head is facing.

The thing that I found most frustrating about that fight when I was doing attempts earlier was that every now and then he would start the fight with that aerial breath attack. As soon as I stepped through the fog and started moving towards him, up he'd go and there'd no way to avoid the death.

This is just annoying. I am wondering jf I somehow sequence broke it, I went via pursuer to lost bastille and met her in the tower first. Then met her at the bonfire in no mans wharf where she gave me the human effigy. I am definately human and am standing on the spot where you pull the chain to operate the gate.... nothing.

Man, blood bros be chug chug chuggin on that es es estus...

From need to block that shit pronto.

quick question about a boss
is the reason its tough to keep locked on to the lost sinner that its dark? i know you can light those lights on either side of the door before the fight

I wanted to ask do most people use walkthroughs when playing dark souls games, or do they just wing it?

I did a pure blind run through of this one first. I did have to ask for directions once in this thread! Now that I have completed the game I am looking at various sites to see what I missed.

I summoned NPC L
ucatiel
toward the end of N
o Man's Wharf
. She was pretty helpful in pointing me toward some tough-to-see enemies. But when I got to the boss door, she just sat outside. She never spawned in the fight! It's a lucky thing the boss was a pushover.

First playthrough is blind offline (well trying to avoid spoilers in this thread, I know the names of some areas I haven't been to yet). Next playthrough I'll be hitting the wikis etc to see what I missed and go for the platinum and go online, I miss getting invaded!

yep. Didn't realize while playing, but
you can light up the area and that allows you to lock on easier

Does anyone know if in ng+ with soul level around 150 sun broing works well?

Apparently it does, since soul memory is disabled for NG+. Making co-oping easier again. This is why I'm starting NG+ today, takes way too long to get summoned as SL140 in NG.

I get summoned to the end boss fights frequently but the down time in between is a bit too high. Sitting at sl 129 right now.

Sorry I'm sure this was asked before but can someone explain to me what it means if I get summoned into a world as a gray spirit? I end up killing the player and one time I got a pharros lockstone but the other few times I don't think i got anything. Also does anything happen if I die as a gray spirit? And it seems random. Can i just be summoned at any time? I worry now about putting the controller down and going afk which I do often

Where the fuck is the rest of belfry luna guys?! i'm pissed i want to know :( Also the boss rat authority is kicking my ass oh and i lost 30000 souls because i'm dumbass and i didn't cash them in when i could. My head hurts i'm still very sick :(

KIlled first boss yesterday in hollow form
did I miss an important item by not summoning Pate to the Giant boss fight ?

I was wondering why did not turn back to human form after killing it ?

if you summoned him, he gives you all his gear and ring in another location.
i just got them yesterday. Pretty sweet.

Yes, if you light up the area, it becomes easier to lock-on.

This game is apparently huge.

I'm not a huge fan of the randomness of areas, I'm always wondering which area I should go to based on level. I just remembered I need to go back to the gutter, but at this point I'm probably far over leveled for it.

Other than that, and the usual Souls stuff like not explaining a fucking thing, it's great.

Did anyone manage to get the item near the second fire at huntman's copse, where you have to make two jumps?

Did I miss my chance at the item in the tree
where you fight the scorpion boss, I think during the fight you need her to break the tree down?

I despise the
Iron Keep
. Probably lost 60,000 souls there just from stupid mistakes, and I died on the S
melter Demon
more times than any boss before it. Summons didn't help, and in the end I had to just learn the right role timing while keeping enough armor on for fire resistance.

Anywhere else you can get boltstones? Killed that targray guy. Enemies that drop them, or the crows? If the crows what is it you exchange, smooth stones, or petrified something? Thanks.
