Listen to this man. I farmed the slug right after getting into the sumbro covenant all the way to 30 just by dropping my sign right outside the previous bonefire. Was sl 103 or something too and got enough souls to go all the way over 120 after that. Now I don't know what to do with those souls. Pump my dex to 40 and use the sun sword, or just keep using the greatsword ive been using and get more hp.

The slug? I'm about the same SL and looking to max out sun bro

When I saw the area I was already expecting a
Dragon God-like
fight, didn't expect it to be worse than that fight.

I found most of the boss-fights to be pretty bland. They do change things up in NG+ though, so atleast that's something.
Yeah, so far of my two disappointments with DS2, the bosses are on of them. There are some pretty solid ones here and there, but I don' think it comes close to matching DS1.
Also NG+ changes up boss fights? That's pretty cool.

The response the game is getting in here is pretty soul-crushing. I feel a bit alone in my corner lol. Just reading some comments is really, really bringing me down, so I think I'll have to avoid this thread from now on.

Still my favorite Souls experience by a wide margin.

The "controversy" going on in the other thread really confused me. I went in started reading and just didn't understand what was going on. I mean, I'd put something like 30 hours into the game and it is amazing and I'm reading stuff about how it's the worst thing ever from people who are "waiting for the PC version". I just closed the thread and moved on.

Get that Dex up, sun sword is boss with is mixed move set and scaling. Also get more swings in compared to greatsword

Most of what I've seen in the OTs has been positive. It's the vocal minority that cares about the lighting controversy in the other threads that are down on the game. And most of them haven't even played it likely.

I definitely rank this above Demon's and on par with Dark. Especially since I still think I have over a third of the game to go and I've already put hours upon hours into it. AND I'm super pumped for NG+ to see the changes.

Don't let the people being down on the game dampen your experience. The Souls community is probably my favorite multiplayer video game community out there. Grab a trident and start dancing!

Uh. Isn't there literally an item that reads 'restores your link to other worlds'?

Not the same thing, this is for people who disconnect mid PVP matches like pansys or for restoring a burnt effigy status.

Yeah, I saw someone say it was 'completely unplayable' and then I just left the thread for good, lol.

Has anyone kept Lucatiel alive for the Smelter Demon battle (trying to keep her alive for three bosses to further her quest)? She dies before I can get his HP down to even half. I heard he's weak to lightning so I might try Gold Pine Resin.

Was thinking of just coming back later to deal with him. Or just use an Ascetic in the Wharf and summon her for Flexile again.

Also there's a chest on the lava rocks where I die before I can get it :/ I can't use Flash Sweat with my build either.

I just set my sign down at the start of the tunnel that leads out of the bonfire a bit before him. The boss is really close, but just gotta make sure the host dosnt die to the big ambush room if he decides to go that way, but only like 5 people all day went there. Biggest killer of hosts was the traped chest right before the boss.

Still unsure since I've really grown to love the R2 of the greatsword. That thrust followed by a spin is great for pvp and has a bunch of range.

A speedy, Hex-using Dex build is pretty much out of the question, isn't it?

A Dexhex? Considering to get the most out of it you'd have to level up Int/Faith/Atn/Dex/End/Adp... Yeah probably. I'm going to have a decent battle mage when I hit SL120 but I haven't put a single point into Faith. I can't imagine what I would cut stat wise to get a decent Faith stat.

Could I do it if I weren't too bothered about capping my level...? Forever Alone etc.

I feel the same way. Like confused is the best word for it. I never expected anything better then the visuals from DS1 though so that may be why I can't see that point of view.

It's weird that this thread isn't moving as fast as the thread for DaS 1. I've never seen such a fast thread. Seems like there are plenty of players?

Yeah, I saw someone say it was 'completely unplayable' and then I just left the thread for good, lol.

I'm playing on 360 and haven't had any frame rate issues or tearing as far as I've seen. No input lag, really no technical difficulties whatsoever aside from slight lagginess during a few PvP battles. People are really drama queens over the lighting, and honestly even with the 'downgrade' there's still been areas where I used/needed the torch to help see.

The game's fine.

I actually had her survive just barely through that fight. But then she died in a different one and I didn't know she could be summoned for others so.... I guess I'll take care of her quest line on a different run through.

ain't shit!! 4 tries and done. So far, sticking semi-close and circling/baiting seems to work wonders. Now let's see where this leads to before I return to the fog gate in Lost Bastille.

I've noticed that most of the negative reactions are from people in the first bit of the game (still in the forest or heide's) and the positive reactions are mostly from people who are in the mid-to-end game or are in NG+ already. Game is front loaded with decent bits but the end game is where it gets really good.

I stopped following this thread closely a few days, as it's been a busy week. But I am hearing things about adaptability not being as important as first thought. Can someone update me on that?

At SL83, I have 21 points in adaptability. Is this wasted? Should I respec and if so, how many points should I actually have in adaptability?

I
shot him with a stationary crossbow
.

Took like 90% of his health. :lol

In circles, amusingly enough by your comment of where you are returning to. Make sure to drop down the hole after him for some armor and a sword that I am still using.

Thanks for this. I assumed I would be too high to get summons there. Seems like a good choice.

Dark scaling starts falling off at 30/30 INT/FTH, so if you're fine with using Skeptic's and Simpleton's Spice to bring any Hexes you want to use with higher requirements down into those ranges that's all you need, and those stats aren't really any more onerous than pumping Intelligence or Faith alone for a Dexterity plus Sorcery or Miracle build.

I'm building up a character as a Hex + Strength build, and it's working out fine. I'm sacrificing Adaptability and Vitality to hit my 40/30/30 STR/INT/FTH target, which has me running around in my underpants for lack of equip weight and lacking in... whatever it is that Adaptability actually does. Neither seems to be hurting me much really, and The Adventures of Loincloth Zombie are proceeding apace.

I've seen her survive once when I was co-oping the area. It seemed to be more luck than anything. The host and I both had good damage output and the boss just ignored her for the most part so it was over relatively fast and she ended the fight with about a third of her HP left.

Could I do it if I weren't too bothered about capping my level...? Forever Alone etc.

Sure, although you'd go pretty high. I've seen a miracle requiring 55 Faith so I'd guess the highest level Hexes would be around there too. It'd be tricky and you'd likely have to sacrifice one area (either Dex or hex) at first so you don't spread yourself thin in the early game.

You'll also likely be a glass cannon. My build has a whopping 7 Vitality and 7 Vigor right now and I'm SL102.

Some people are organized and make a quick rush to the Smelter Demon. Some people obviously never played the level before but are scared (you can tell because the first set of doors aren't even open). And one dude just wanted help getting to through to the Old Iron King, that was one of the most fun runs (and longest).

Was is someone named Ricardo perchance, wearing an iron mask? He summoned me and another SunBro last night right in front of the
Smelter Demon
, then turned around and pointed to go across the bridge and fight the other boss. I kept blocking him and doing the "no no no" gesture the whole way there, but he was resolute and we finally got to the boss, so I jumped right in the lava just to make it harder for him. It was hilarious trolling him the entire time, but boy was he determined.

Hoo boy. Those
gargoyles. Six of them? FFFF

Yeah. Are they an optional boss? Also, any advice? I've tried splitting them up and what not, but I still managed to get destroyed. Fun. I've also lit the first primal bonfire and I'm wondering where I need to go next. Down the well?

Late game: The
Giant Lord
is kicking my ass. The
fireballs
really hamper my efforts to not get hit. Is any one of the available summons worth using?
MLGS NPC dies before I even get him to the boss half of the time. The rolling head destroys him, or he gets caught inside it somehow.

Thanks. I'm not too fussed about having the very highest Hex spells at my disposal, so 30/30 with 40 DEX seems doable. I do have a need for speed and END... is there a good character calculator available yet?

Nice one. That seems doable. I won't need too much health, I don't intend to get hit much ;P

The four primal bonfires. I did
TLS, then Old Iron King, then Duke's Dear Freja, now down the pit.
Is that the normal order? Can you do them in any order?

^any order, cause i didnt do them in that order
Just discovered something really cool. You don't need
the 4 Great Souls to go to Drangleic Castle, only 3 of them.
Yea I wen t there early on and thet told me that you are still fragile and weak and death isnt even the worst thing that can happen to me

A speedy, Hex-using Dex build is pretty much out of the question, isn't it?

I'm running a Strength-Hex build and its going pretty great so far. I originally went 40/25/25 str/int/fth, but I think I'm gonna respec to like 28/30/30. I only did the strength-hex build after finishing the game, though, and mostly for PvP. Also got (weapon spoiler)
crypt blacksword, infused with dark so that it scales S with dark. Two hits is usually enough to kill people in PvP, sometimes 3.
