DirectX 12 GDC 2014 presentation: Low-Level Access, DX11 GPUs, Holiday 2015

Would be interesting to see if they could have kept Forza 5 at the E3 level of fidelity if they had access to this at the time.

I expected that some features are already present on the XBO. I guess it's more of a port from the console to the desktop/mobile world, in addition to new features.

Porting X1 games to PC will be easier and vice versa if they threw in X1 optimizations into DX12 if this is what the example of Forza is. Game development between pc/x1 much easier.

No?

Yup. I still stand by my theory that Xbone was originally designed with DX12 in mind, but DX12 was not finished by the time the Xbone was, so they patched it up with DX11.1.

I wonder if there was a reason to port that game to Dx12, was just for the sake of the Demo? Or will they be patching this in to the retail version?

Cmon Turn 10... where was the "... so now we can enable XYZ anti aliasing", or "so we can run at a higher res and downsample" type comment??

If Forza 5 is coming to PC, I'm buying a new GPU. Finally I can use my T500RS on the thing...

While that's probably not going to happen, correct me wrong but these types of API optimizations are already on consoles, right? PC gaming should benefit the most from DX12?

Well, they spent 4 months of man power porting the core engine over. I suspect they wouldn't let all that work go to waste. Why not use some other game to show this off?

oh wait, i forgot that they limited dx11.1 to windows 8 and 11.2 to 8.1

so yeah, this will be windows 8.1 exclusive, thus it will have an extremely slow uptake (similar to how vista bombing really hurt directx 10 adoption)
