Quick question about the A
ncient
D
ragon
:
Is it possible to survive his fire attack? Like, does Flash sweat, orange burrs, fire resist gear help at all? I got OHKOed, with 35 VIG and a Life+2 ring (so about 1900 HP!) and I wondered if it's possible to survive it or if it hits you, you're done no matter what. If so I won't bother with attuning flash sweat I guess.

Only tried to fight him once, got instantly OHKOed by his fire breath. Then I died twice to the sentries trying to make my way back (so apparently crossing the mist no longer gives you invincibility... as I just found out XD). lol

I think it does waaaay too much damage even with all that defense, but I found a way:
Do you have a Gyrm Greatshield? When I saw the dragon reeling up to vomit fire all over me from the sky, I two-handed the Gyrm Greatshield, targeted his head and blocked. The fire strikes twice, the second knocks me off balance but after that it doesn't matter. So my advice is to get a shield with 100% fire block and very high stability.

By the way, even while blocking with the greatshield, the first flame attack knocked off 90% of my stamina, so I don't think any practical amount of fire defense will work if you still get killed in the first tick of damage.

So from what i understood is that the
Royal Rat Authority
is optional, but i can't seem to find another way to
Brightstone Cove Tseldora
to fight
Freja
.

Help! am running out on spring break days!

The way to
Brightstone Cove: Majula -> Shaded Woods (the area past the petrified woman blocking the switch) -> [Take right path when you get to a crossroads with a bonfire in the middle, you'll know it's the right way if you see a dense, foggy wood] -> Doors of Pharros -> Brightstone Cove

edit: oops misread, the way is
When you first enter that area, take the stairs on the left (the right path leads to the bonfire. If you cross that you're going the wrong way) Follow the path up the stairs and you'll get to the next area.

the fuck at the loading times? 15 seconds after every time I die? What the fuck is this. also I was lagging as well in a few areas.

anyway, I guess taking on the pursuer after the first boss wasn't a good idea since I did to him 20 damage per hit. based summoned player that kills me with that giant crossbow.

some questions:
- why did the guy summoned by me (the other one) disappeared at the beginning of the boss fight with a message like "task completed"? He was a black phantom.
- is the Seed of a Tree of Giants gift just for one use?
- I'm going for a dex build, what's a good weapon that I can get during the early game that is worth upgrading? Right now I'm using a scimitar.
- joining the guild of champions gives you ng+ difficulty (I did without knowing it), changing covenant after you joined it nullifies that? If not, rip.

I knew i wasn't great, but damn. Already dying constantly in Heidi's Tower of Flame. First enemy doesn't even respawn anymore. And I can even kill the enemies in 3 to 4 hits, while using a shield.

Jesus just tried the claymore
It's awesome.
+10'd that Badboy.

royal rat authority
down in one go. Went under him and killed him with one chaos storm lol

I was able to block it, and I've survived a hit if it clipped me, but if you're right in the middle of it I've never survived. I don't think there is anything that is actually OHKO though, it's all just damage so it is probably theoretically possible to survive.

So does getting summoned as a Blue Sentinel even work? I've yet to be summoned.

I got summoned once. I don't think this covenant is going to get a lot of action unless it's duels against other covenant members. No one invades anymore because it's difficult to obtain cracked red-eye orbs. Does anyone know if Blue Sentinels can be summoned when people are invaded by Bell Guardians?

Judging from the Covenant NPC's dialogue it's probably only Brotherhood of Blood members since those two are opposed to each other.

Not a lot discussion here about the games soundtrack.

I think it's amazing! Classy orchestrations and great atmospheric tracks. Step-up from DkS1 if you ask me which could get overly bombastic at times.

I need help on where to go next. I've finished the zones I know about with help from summons.

I've done three primal bonfires:
Sinner, Iron King and that thing in Black Gulch
. I can't enter any of the King doors. Did I miss a turn somewhere? I've explored most of the zones except some of the really annoying ones. Based on how the areas branch, I'd say there's something in
Doors of Pharros
but that area loops back to the beginning after the boss.

At the beginning of DoP, go left instead of right. The boss there is optional.

Used most of my effigies for pvping and
I only now learn that you need them to fight an optional boss.
gg Fromsoft.

What kind of thing does
Darklurker's
soul make? Feel like I'd be ok with skipping it anyway.

Not entirely sure what the soul makes, but it's a required fight if you're going for platinum. There's a Hex you can only get from maxing out the covenant after killing him. If you're not worried about trophies/achieves or using hexes, he's totally skippable.

Could someone give me a general hint as to where this Dull Ember I'm hearing about is located? I am getting pretty far in the game and would love the help of another smith.

There's a second path right at the beginning of Doors of Pharros. Go up the stairs in the room with mimic.

It's in
Iron Keep on the platform with the first archer. Jump on it from the platform you get to when you walk over the central bridge.

There are two routes to take in Pharros - one leads to the boss, the other leads to Brightstone Cove Tseldora. You want to take the latter.

I just got to
Drangleic Castle
but I see it's listed last on the travel menu. Was there somewhere else I could have gone before this?

Whats the best place to farm for
1: titanite shard
2: large titanite shard
I'm not sure exactly what the trigger is, but eventually
you can talk to an NPC who sells both of those, get her to relocate to Majula, and after a while she sells them in limitless supply.

As long as you've
lit all the primal bonfires
, it should be the last location in your travel menu at that point.
There are still other areas after though.

Where do you farm for that shield?

Dragon Shrine--towards the end near the Ancient Dragon on those huge long stairs towards him
In between the big black knights there will be some smaller quicker dudes in gold badass looking armor. Those are the guys you wanna kill. There's 2 in the middle...and then one at the very top.

Iron Keep just before Smelter Demon.

You have to make a jump to get it if I remember correctly.

It's in
Iron Keep on the platform with the first archer. Jump on it from the platform you get to when you walk over the central bridge.

It's in
Iron Keep
, in the huge area right before
Smelter Demon
.

I don't feel too bad missing it now since that is almost exactly where I am in the game. About to face the next boss after Smelter. Thanks!

It's maybe a bit early, but having never played a DS game before, should I play DS2 or is the previous one better?

You'll get a million different answers to that.

If you plan on co-oping bosses then DSII is much easier and accessible. If you plan on soloing everything DSII is far more challenging. In my opinion.

ok thanks. didn't want to skip any big areas or anything. i got kinda lost for a while again -.-

All three are great.

It doesn't really matter where you start. I'd recommend Dark Souls but you might as well jump in with the sequel since they are different enough to be appreciated on their own in any order whatsoever.

I completely forgot that the Bone Dust upgrades the flask. I was sitting on a couple for maybe ten hours until I remembered. I feel like a big dummy right now.

I'm pretty sure by now that unlike the bell covenant to get summoned or summon someone you need to be in the same location when the invasion happens. I think there are just too many requirements for this to happen more often. Like, the way of blue member has to be in the same area as the blue sentinel, both have to have the ring on AND a red has to invade at that time.
With hardly anyone invading(seems like it to me at least) as a blood bro anyway those conditions are hardly ever met I guess.

Another problem I see is that theres not much point on being from the Way of Blue covenant. I mean, some people will probably join for their fist playthrough because they dont want to be invades. But after that? people will probably dont care about being invaded, or would actually join PvP, so they'll move to the bloodbros so they can invade everyone, or the bellbros, so they can get fast PvP matches and titanite chunks, something that is really needed in this game.

Would have saved me a bunch on some fights though, since there is no time to take two swigs in a boss battle. Hopefully now I can go show those fucking G
argoyles
what's what.

Summons don't stay in your world infinitely now. That's especially true for shades which are summoned with small souls signs. They disappear after killing a handful of enemies. If you want somoene to last for most of the level + boss fight you'll have to find a normal soul sign.
The seed is a one use item but you can get more at the
tree of giants in soldiers rest. Each time you are invaded that tree has a steadily increasing chance to grow such a seed.
Can't really talk from experience here but many people enjoy the falchion, which is basically a direct upgrade to the scimitar.
Finally, covenant effects are only active as long as you are in that covenant. You can just abandon the covenant of Champions and everything should go back to normal.

Okay, so, remember the first Bonfire in Doors of Pharros? Right by the uhh, chest.

Instead of going through there, turn around and go back out into the water where the chest was. Hang a right and head up the stairs towards a light source and follow the cliff on the right up and around (ignore the dwarven dude with his back to you). Continue past Gavlan and you will fight a few more dwarves before entering the Cove. There is a bonfire at the campsite, hidden within one of the tents.

There is also an NPC summon sign inside another tent, so make sure to explore them all. There is no boss if you don't go through the Rat Covenant area, it's a straight walk to the Cove.

so i get to castle drangleic and i start trying to put down my soapstone and for the first time ever i get a message saying i cant. i go through the level talk to the woman get to first fog and it wont let me summon different messages out the butt. i try to quit the game but the option is greyed out. i walk around trying to figure it out awhile before i say screw it fight the boss alone and die. quit the game by force after i die. a patch updates. i reload my game and im in a locked room at the bonfire. teleport out and make my way back and the first door is open and now the uh means to make the door anymore arent spawning. what do i do?

oh and by the way i can see greyed out bonfire points. all of em. ones i havent went to and ones i missed.

from just fucked me so hard

Not sure what they fixed with this patch, but I've been standing here in the bell tower with my ring on for the last 30 minutes and have not been summoned once. Last night alone, I was basically summoned immediately after invading and killing the host. I didn't even have time to upgrade my weapons with the blacksmith before I was summoned again. Trying to get to rank 3. Not sure exactly where I'm at but I currently have 70 chunks in my inventory, not including the ones I've used.
