Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

imo they should disable the AO in the PS3 version. it just looks like sh... and would give some frames.

sometimes (in majula or in coop) you can see the game disabling its FXAA. suddenly the picture is sharp (but with jaggies). i like the sharp version better tbh. its a shame you dont have this kind of options (on/off) in console games.

It's the total number of souls you've earned in your playthrough. It partly affects who invades you and who can summon you and who you can summon. The details are sketchy though.

So summoning/invading isn't goverened by soul level anymore? So you could potentially not be able to do co-op or invade if your soul memory gets too high? God, I hope that's not true. Was planning on doing a lot of co op in ng+.

Pls explain.

Your lifetime souls ever earned are stored, and can be found in your stats screen. From decided to not only make level differences a factor in summoning people, but also Soul Memory. I don't know if it's 50k soul difference along with the 10 levels thing, or 25% soul memory difference as people have said different things.

It severely limits summoning options.

And has no effect in NG+, where From apparently wants most of the PvP to happen.

I thought that was only for PVP (invading particularly). Good to know.

3 days and still stuck on Ruin Sentinals.

I am sporting a Heide Knight Sword +5, STR 33 and END 19 and can't even out mabuever the first one on top ledge. I am out of human effigy. The only thing at this point I have to do is grind through the entire game and keep leveling up. Doesn't sound like fun to me and showcases a flaw in design. It's clear I don't understand invisible frames to take advantage of sentinal attack.

This is so fucking infuriating.

My strategy for the first one was to tank him with a stable shield. Is that an option for your build?

What about summoning? Me and a friend have been trying to organize summoning together the past few days and I had to break from the game so he could catch up to me, even though we were similar levels. It just really limits the summoning, which is lame and can already be constrained. It just seems like bad design for summoning in particular.

PvP is a little more understandable, as that keeps low level griefers down, I guess. So it's null in NG+? Didn't know that.

Afraid of this happening to me too. I've still got a bunch of effigys for now but the fact that I can run out of them is frustrating nonetheless. Mixed feelings about despawning foes.

Also soul memory affecting summoning is incredibly dumb

There has been a patch? Restarted my Xbox, internet, and game multiple times today trying to deal with the summoning issues. Been playing all day with no updates, summoning did break earlier.

Patch isnt out yet on 360.

Btw, seems like I can place a sign for summoning. First time it happens for me (360 ver.).

What's the best direction to handle Lost Bastille?
Pirate ship end or the other way?

The Pirate ship method is more thorough, as the "other way" can lead straight to the boss door depending on your route. There is also an easily missed secret there (white phantom clued me in, or I'd still have no idea), so be mindful of all barrels and the enemies that are around them. You don't want the enemies ruining your chances at this.

Oh hey yeah, I remember reading that getting summoned and fulfilling your duty may turn you back into human, or something like that. Is it true?

I have defeated a number of bosses while summoned. The only time I turned human was when I died, weirdly enough.

I was stuck on it for hours so I can't even imagine your pain.

But you just have to do it. Try wearing lighter/heavier armor. Roll more or block more. In the end it's just up to you to beat them and believe me it feels good when you do.

And of course there are other areas to explore if you wanna take break from it.

It's a one-shot chance? Do tell.

Doors of Pharros.
I'm starting to dig this place when I get summoned as a gray phantom. 50% of the time I win, and when I win I get a Pharros Lockstone, and if I lose I lose nothing.

Sure dudes I'll play your game.

How much damage are you doing with heide knight sword? Maybe your not doing enough damage.

get the twin dragon shield (the merchant in majula sells it) get it to at least +3, should make the fight at lot easier. Also equip the drangleic armor.

Edit: stupid auto correct

Do you have a 100%-block shield? You can get one after beating the
Pursuer
and finding the
Drangleic Shield
down the open crevice. It helps tremendously. Strategy wise: have less than 70% weight so you can properly fast-roll, and practice roll-dodging the boss' attacks. Its a long fight, so be patient, roll, and land a hit or two when you can. Alternatively, you can purchase a bow and cheese them. Also...(covenant)
Are you in the Company of Champions covenant? That is, did you talk to a giant stone early in the game? Being in it ups the difficulty level for all mobs and bosses.
Just checking.

You need to get better at the game, not grind more levels. The 1v1 vs the first sentinel is to teach you their attacks. You should be able to get through that part easily. That first guy has 4 attacks:
  • the overhead
  • the two hand swipe
  • the double one handed horizontal swipe
  • the poke, horizontal swipe combo
The overhead and the two hand swipe are really easy to dodge and leaves them extremely vulnerable. The other two attacks are harder to dodge and not as easy to punish. Learn the timings to dodge the first two attacks, block the other two, and you'll be fine. It gets harder when you fight the other two, because they have 3 additional attacks, but you'll be in a better spot once you can consistently kill the first guy.

You can just circle strafe counter clockwise and you'll only be hit by one of their attacks. You're not even on the hard bit. Summon people?

Every time I've been summoned there it's in a room with a giant mastodon warrior with several toxic rats and a host blasting me with spells. I don't even bother.

Yeah my sword is stuck there as well, I could have +6 if I hadn't also upgraded the fire longsword with one extra Large shard before realizing there are very few around. I am just about ready to take a swing at the
sentinels
solo. If you hire the NPC as a distraction and kill the first one on top you should be ok down below...but solo is going to be a biatch. I will try my best but will resort to hiring the NPC if I get stuck.

I just downloaded the patch...any idea what is on it?

So I just defeated
the dual dragonriders and now my bonfire travel listing has a bunch of areas with question marks on them. What's up with that?

Dont worry I'm stuck there too, I'm trying to play without shields and its really fucking tough. It's bad too cause I had like 80+ hours in the first Dark Souls so they shouldn't be owning me like this, especially since Ive been summoning help.

So... summoning and being summoned isn't possible right now after the new patch (Why FROM...it was perfect...). Is PVP/invading still working as intended? Don't need to stay in the Sunbro covenant when I can be invading, heh

I hate that place because my first experience was so annoying.
Duel wielding halberds in order to 2 shot enemies is cool, but sucks pvp, and there's no time to change equipment after you confusingly hit the load screen.

the summon system is working again but im afraid my progress is broken in the game still.

im going to have to start over...

fuck this patch. why did i have to be playing when they rolled out this update.

Aren't the R
uin
S
entinels
skippable? I keep seeing people talking about them as a hard block (and for good reason- nearly all of the challenging bosses in this series are about dealing with multiple bosses at once) but I remember ending up doing them after beating the
Lost Sinner
. Maybe my memory is wrong, but I recall
taking the back way through the Lost Bastille, using a lockstone somewhere, and ending up at Sinner's Rise all without ever facing the Sentinels. I only faced them just to see if I could best them; they seemed strictly optional.

In any case, it's still probably a good idea to learn how to fight them as beating multiple foes at once is necessary in some of the later boss fights as well. Just a thought in case those stuck wanted to try other enemies and areas first.

Have you found the Life Ring? It seriously curbed my effigy burn and can take the sting out of situations like this. I prefer to fight the first one on the ledge, but if that's giving you trouble, have you tried to jump down and just fight them all on the floor? My dude is quick and lightweight, so for me the ledge was fine, but things got even easier downstairs, despite there being 2 bosses left.

I don't know that this will work, but maybe try dropping one of those Alluring Skulls to see if it buys you any time? And if worse comes to worse, try using those Holy Waters from a distance after baiting out each swing.

This boss is seriously more bark than bite, but the fact that there is 3 of them really put me in the wrong state of mind ("fucking terrified") and that only lead to more mistakes.

PvP is a little more understandable, as that keeps low level griefers down, I guess. So it's null in NG+? Didn't know that.

Invasions are already severely restricted because of the limited number of cracked red eyes.
The game seems almost dead in that regard despite the big number of people who are playing it right now.

This incompetent developer makes me furious. No patch notes and - at least for me - summoning doesn't work atm. I guess bonfires will also start flickering again with the next patch. Fucking idiots.
