For the life of me I can't figure out A
ncient
D
ragon
.

I think I play too coy and it just winds up getting me killed.

He's a really boring and tedious boss. What I did was
just stay near like the middle of his tail, hit him a few times, and watch what he does next. If he bash his tail on the ground, hit him one more time and then lock on to his right foot. Once you know he's about to fly up, just run and try to reach his tail again. Make sure to have plenty of stamina ready for this. It's just a rinse and repeat really. Since he pretty much one shots you, don't worry about armor too much and have the redstone tear ring equipped.

I am liking that this game really makes me feel like I'm going further and further down a hole (literally at points). Like they could have made
The Grave of Saints
one area, but you go deeper. It's a subtle feeling, but the world feels a lot more connected with itself. Even though
I have no idea how the fuck you go up in a windmill and end up in an ocean of lava surrounded by mountains.

My first successful duel for today with all the server issues was just with a hacker that had infinite acid surge casts. Neat.
I got summoned as a gray phantom and had to fight off a Gyrm and two mastadons while a guy threw poison knives at me. I took out the enemies but the bastard killed me with a knife. He didn't earn that >:(

Wtf? IO beat the second part of the
Dark Covenant and lit the fire
but I didnt get a rank up, and it just brings me to that same level when I give him another effigy.

Silly, you need to light all 3 fires :P. I did the same thing earlier wondering where my rank up was. The 3rd rank is beating the boss.

To get to the 3rd area you need to go to the only other place you haven't gone yet (if you catch my drift)

Is the summoning still broken?

I was getting some decent PvP in...but it was still crazy intermittent. Hopefully the PC version works a lot more smoothly. I was never a big PvP game in the previous 2 games (I just beat em and moved on) but I'm enjoying all the magic in this game and hexes are badass.

Ugh, I may just skip him. The fight is 0 fun.

The Shrine is Amana is making me cry.

I keep responding in here when I should be playing Infamous, but, that place is dogshit. You really 100% have to bring a bow or a crossbow. Even if you can't 1-hand the crossbow, 2-hand it up like I did--hide behind a pillar, and keep shooting. If you don't take those guys out they will keep pelting you with those homing arrows from across the map. Luckily there's a bonfire at the end before the boss.

Second I saw the size of him I just went, "No....no thank you sir"

On "the bridge" and going crazy in the dragon cov. summoning people left and right.

SL153

edit: i'd say 1 out of every ~8 signs actually summons someone.

@oneye, ya on PS3 as well.

I was there earlier on PS3 invading people as a blue sentinel. Like 95% of the marks on the ground are for Dragon dudes. It's insane. I might join up to get some consistent PvP in...but can you not fight if you don't have a dragon scale? Or can you always summon and a scale is created for the winner?

Just beat the Iron keep boss

Way too easy. Very simple attack patterns.

Boss design is pretty disappointing to be honest. Attack patterns for the last 5 bosses I've done are way to simplistic

I saw all the marks and that's why I joined lol. It's pretty fun and most people are great sports.

edit: if you ever see a sign left by "Graphf", that's me. :)

It is done.

Also, IMPORTANT note for trophy hunting (kinda spoilers):
Chancellor Wellagar in Drangelic Castle sells three spells that you'd normally have to acquire through insane amounts of covenant PvP. For Wellagar to sell these items, you have to be on NG++. Contrary to other sources, there are no other requirements. Just reach him on NG++. Happy hunting!

Really?
Dang, this will be my easiest platinum since I am only missing Master of ------- x3.
Time to just power rush NG+.

Wow, just read about how Brotherhood of Blood ranking up works.
Apparently a loss counts as -1 and win +1. Time to abandon this covenant...

Ooooh I'm gonna get yo ass. You gonna keep PvPing there? I'm gonna add you on PSN and will hit you up once I finish up with Infamous. I got a nice break in between beating Infamous and D3: RoS. Are you on NG+ or just NG? I saw most of the signs in NG.

Ya that's insane. There's barely enough orbs to go around--and the number needed is incredible. Seems more like a PC covenant.

I have a question. I just beat the
Garl Vinland lookalike boss and I see King Vendrick...but no matter how I attack him, he doesn't respond. Do I need something else, or is this a bug?

Some think it is bugged. I am inclined to believe them. It is a fun covenant but it is really really really getting old to farm for the stuff.

I think it's just how he's designed. To initiate the fight (keep in mind you only get a trophy) you need to cause him to bleed somehow. He's got insanely high defense and can 1 shot you.

You have to do enough damage to get him started. With his insane defense this takes forever

NG, still haven't even beaten the game, I keep stopping and doing this like. but ya, I'm sure over time people will just leave their marks in certain areas. I'll most likely still be playing for a while.

Depends on how much Soul of Giants you have, his defense multiplier for each missing Soul of Giants. There are 5 total. Hit him enough though and he will get aggressive

This Gray Phantom stuff is really just a bunch of bullshit, isn't it? Bunch of cowards waiting for you to get aggro and trying to spam you with ranged attacks. Not a fan of this. Just a big waste of time.

Summoning seems to be broken in certain areas.

Can't place my sign in
iron keep/aldias
keep but can in
heides/shaded woods/brightstone.

All these dirty sinners. I'm running out of cracked blue orbs, looks like I need to actually finish the game soon :(

Funniest invasion was a guy who had a white phantom with him. Not enough that you're guilty, you need to fight dirty too? They gangbanged me the first time but I actually got them again on my next invasion. Threw a sunlight spear at the host and he blocks, then I throw another and switch targets midcast. Phantom eats it and boom dead. Host was probably the least dangerous individual I have ever fought in this game including AFK folks, all he knew how to do was block. It was good practice for double club guard breaking. What I'm curious about is who the hell this guy managed to actually kill in order to get sin.

Anyways after getting fed up with Estus chuggers I went and bought a ton of Lloyd's off the cat. First guy I used it on ate a greatclub 2HR2, then starts backing off predictably before he just stands there awkwardly wondering why he can't heal. By the time he found his divine blessing or whatever, he was already eating lightning.

Man this is addictive. I never did much PVP in the previous games but I can't stop in this one.

I just came very close to throwing my controller at my TV.

My first two attempts at
Freya
, get her down to 2-3 more hits of health each time until (exactly the same both times) my Falchion fails to hit a
spider add
I'm locked on to, who then hits me and knocks me into her AOE attack.

Then I'm enraged, so I'm doing worse and worse each attempt, often not even clearing
the first set of spiders
. Once, I even used a Gold Pine Resin instead of healing, thus dying AND wasting a valuable item. Then, on my sixth attempt or so, I finally get her to half health again, and this time she jumps
directly on top of me
, trapping me
inside her body
, with two of the
spider adds
inside with me. They continue to kill me as I cannot move.

This is the only kind of thing in the world gets me so mad I want to break things. It's when I perceive something as easy (and I swear, this boss is easy as shit by Souls standards, even compared to another boss I fought today, the
Giant Rat-Sif
), and then fail to execute over and over again because of what I perceive to be mistakes I'm not responsible for (the sword hits not connecting, using the golden pine resin because of the shit 360 dpad).

Then, getting this mad makes me look like a fucking idiot and I feel ashamed. The worst part is I'm sure I'll beat her easily in my next play session when I've calmed down.

LOL I'm with you. I never did any PVP in the previous 2 games--I think I felt kinda guilty cause I knew when I was leveling just to beat the game I wanted to be left alone. But it feels so good in this game. And yeah, every time I invade as a blue phantom people chug flasks like whoa. My main spell 1-shots a ton of people, but if it doesn't, they just run and chug chug chug. I think I'm gonna stock up on those too since all my souls are worthless now that I hit 150. Also, I ran out of the blue orbs too...not sure how we're reliably supposed to get more--unless the dude sells them in NG+. The Knights beforehand all drop them, but I'm pretty sure I farmed them all to bits...and I'm not dropping a bonfire ascetic on any area that has a boss.

Shrine of Amana spoilers -
The Demon of Song
has a very cool visual desgin

Wicked cool. I tried hanging back first time throwing bolts at her face...big mistake for that 1 attack. Second attempt I just hugged close and chopper her to pieces with my uchigatana.

I stocked up on cracked red eye orbs, poison knives and bleeding knives. Time to start invading.

I even backed up my save to PS+ so I can just delete my save and do the same thing in 24 hours. I will probably hit NG+ this weekend.

Invaded in the giant forest and ended up in lost bastille. Servers, you crazy.

OMG that is a messy server.

Seriously, though. The doors of Pharros fucking sucks because of this. Who are these assholes who summon people just to gank them with the help of NPCs? Not fun. Only real complaint so far about the game.

Also love killing bosses in co-op and then doing the channeler's trident dance :P

I think we can all agree that is truly the greatest of all Souls gestures. Step aside, Praise the Sun.

I'm not sure how locations work when invading. Most of the time you end up in the area you invaded in, but sometimes you get sent elsewhere. Sometimes they aren't even geographically close.

Wow that clears a lot up. I was sure I had over 500 wins by counting tokens of spite (red soap) and cracked red orbs (duels) but since rank 3 wasn't popping I thought you might've needed 500 in exclusively either duels or invasions. This means I'm probably way closer than I thought.
