Ok I'm a level 22 bandit but not quite sure where to put points into when I level up?
I got STR to 20 so I could use the halberd I recently found. Its good should I be using weapons like this?

Is Adaptability worth pumping points into? Also Dexterity is good for my class but not really sure what its use is for if I'm gonna use swords and spears mostly?

A weapons damage is determined by your stats. If you look at that halberd it will say it has a D scaling in str and a C scaling in dex, what this means is that the more dex and str you have the more damage you do with that weapon. C is better than D. This means that you get more damage per dex than you do per str.
Hope this makes sense.
Also, don't worry about what class you are. A bandit can do almost anything.

I could use some help. I'm in the Lost Bastille. I have a strength build, and I'm struggling to find a really good weapon to use. I have a fire longsword, so should I put points into intelligence to increase fire damage, or use something else, like a broadsword?

Weapons are pretty scarce up to that point. Try using a club and leveling it up.

Unless it's your intention to become a battle mage, don't bother. Find yourself a club (the hag sells them) or mace. They both have great strength scaling and put out good damage for early game.

I need Effigy, bad.

I killed all the Skeletons that drop it, twice now with the Bonfire thingie. All the dogs are dead in Ballista... I don't know if any exist in the Warf anymore, either. Killed the old hags, too. I even grabbed that one on the lava at the bonfire in the Keep.

Damnit,
I need that Scorpion guy's help against his lover. lol

Ah, great. Thanks for the info! :)

Friendly torch dude is kinda like an ambulatory Mimic that way. You go in and are all like "Oh boy, someone to light my way!" and you're all cheery and let him follow you and then you meet Agdayne who goes all "NURFLE RAWR KILL FIRE!" and suddenly you realize you must've forgotten what game you were playing.

I let the dude follow me and not only did I get killed, I also had to fork over 100,000-odd souls to the pardoner to get Agdayne to talk to me again.

God I hate that torch-bearer.

There are a few weapons you can buy (or find) at this point that are better for a STR build.
Don't overlook a plain old mace. Upgraded it does good damage and is particularly good against armor. A club could be good if you like the move set, or a ultra greatsword, claymore or bastard sword.

question about npc Ro
sabeth Of Melfia (pyro). will she change into the clothes you give her or does she appear to always wear the same stuff? thanks.

Throw yourself upon the wall until the wall crumbles, my son.

She'll change after you visit a bonfire.

My heide straight sword is +9 with 80 lightning damage. Can I add the boltstone to it for more lightning damage? And who does the special upgrades again?

There's a bastard sword in the forest of the fallen giants that I've been using for basically the whole game. It only has c scaling but it does good damage and stunlocks most of the enemies in lost bbastille I've found. You could try and go back there and get it if your having trouble.

Can someone help me? Today I finally got the Japanese Collector's Edition and I'm feeling like this:

fq2STBMm.jpg

There is a cross region play option. What are the actual options there? On the left there is restricted, but what are the other 2? I'm unable to read Japanese :P

nvm, I didn't notice that there are actually only 2. It's obvious now :P

Yes, after you had already explored all the base areas and had a chance to find/explore without warping. I mean for example, this game has alot more areas it seems, but for all the time I've spend actually in them I don't think it matters. There are so many places that have no purpose in the world other then just "area to go though to get to next area to go though".

Exploration is meaningless in a world that doesn't feel like matters. A great way of showing you an area doesn't matter is just letting you skip over it after doing it once. So yeah, the "right from the getgo" warping is bad. Not only for the sense of exploration, but for how they build the world itself in general. Design wise there seems to be a ton more just drop offs with no way back to the rest of the world without warping in this game too.

By the by, has anyone found any really cool huge hidden areas in this game? Something like the the Great Hollow in DS1?
Its not like can warp anywhere from the getgo though. You need to explore the areas to actually find the bonfires first. If you have found two bonfires, you can only warp between those two points. Then you have already explored the way from that one bonfire to the other.

Its up to the player if he/she wants to explore more of the area between those points. It is the exact same situation in Dark Souls 1 as well. In Dark Souls 1, you can simply ignore a lot of exploring and just go from bonfire to bonfire. The only difference between Dark Souls 1 and 2 in this regards is that in DS2 you simply dont have to run manually between these points/bonfires once you have found them, and it saves a lot of time. The only difference is that you're at bigger chance of dying in Dark Souls 1 because you have to manually run between the bonfires to begin with, but you can do that in Dark Souls 2 as well if you want :)

Its possible that the levels in Dark Souls 1 were more connected to eachother though, that might be true.

What, so far, has been your favorite lockstone secret?

Because seriously, the only really great one was the very first one at the Lost Giant area.

For instance, what on earth does the No Man's Wharf do?
Just light some fires?

Or the one at Earth Peak
(More poison?)

Or the one at Iron Keep,
above the dulle ember?
Add water?
Wtf?

Does infusing your weapon make it worse? I was considering putting lightning on my Uchigatana, but it seems like I would take a noticeable hit in DPS by doing so. Am I just reading it wrong?

The one at NMW ignites a giant lamp which makes all the creepy black monsters hide from the light. I was using a torch to explore the area before that. Not that they are hard, but TA fun to watch them scurry.

The one in Iron Keep
gives you mad fire resistance when you walk into the water. Lasts for about a minute. It's how you snag all the neat treasure in the flaming areas.

Do you know where the locked door at the bottom of the stairs is kind of near the knight's barracks? (outside, not inside)
After you kill the big dude at the top of the stairs, run yourself into the barrel sitting there. It should roll down the stairs and blow a hole in the wall. There's a friendly blacksmith in there, but if you light your torch and then the sconce next to him, he'll walk away from the chest he's guarding and it has an awesome hammer in it. By far my most used weapon in the game, I love it.

I am thinking about the same thing. I see that A scaling goes to B. I've been leveling up my faith to maybe do more, but yeah I'm curious about experience.

Also, any advice on which enemies to farm for chunks? I'm offline! Belfry Towers don't do shit for me! (I think)

The damage will go down for most infusings, except for Rawstone. You will probably do more damage to the enemies that are weak to fire though if you infuse your weapon with fire, just to take one example.

Depends on your build; mages/priests may benefit more from the fire/lightning scaling, but the base damage almost always falls.

Aww this is grim, I hate to blog but due to somebody calling in sick where I work, I won't get a decent session in until Thursday.

I just got into D
rangleic Castle
last night too.

BASE damage. Your overall damage might go up if you've got a dex weapon with B scaling and a lot of faith or int to go with the magic.... right?

Why else infuse?

you also need to open the door he says is locked before he moves on

I unlocked it the first time I found him, but maybe I didn't exhaust his dialogue, but I swear he says the same thing he said last time after I opened it. I went to the cove after this and still found nothing... arghh.
