PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

Looks like Borderlands is a digital code with the new Vita bundle.

I guess I can always giveaway or sell that code

I'd be willing to buy it from you. :D

Edit: Top of the page!

Buy Proteus:

014.jpg

if you own Proteus, buy Tearaway:

If you own both Proteus and Tearaway, buy Little Big PLanet Vita:

little-big-planet-vita.jpg

if you own all three of these you have a problem and should probably just hang out here and complain about the lack of a weekly PSN thread.

From what I understand, Proteus is an even more "gameplayless" game than Journey, so it's definitely not my cup of tea =/

Guys, how was the Dustforce port? I heard bad things about framerate and glitches, then tried the meaty demo and I haven't experienced anything.

Man, Luftrausers is cracking. The controls are so tight, stalling feels great.

I've turned Infamous off and gone back to it because I can't stop thinking about it.

Superfrog sucks, 2+2=5 (?) likes it though.
Worms is Worms. The graphics could be better and the introduction of classes, which are unlocked by the campaign, isn't my thing. Still, the gameplay is the good old Worms.

Thanks

Well, at this point I think I'll just stick with OW2 on PSP.
Superfrog...I read 2+2=5's post too and I still don't know. I think I'll just wait and see, I should have time till 4/10.

Aye. Game is so good and being sch a short burst type of game, I can play it for 15-20 minutes, put it down, and come back later for more.

ok guys this is it! Im heading to the store and I can't decide if I should buy

Dark Souls 2
infamous SS
Rsident Evil 4 HD (never played it)

RE4HD PS3 (and X360 on this matter) version is not worth full price. Buy it only when on sale because you really have to play this game and only if you can't play the Wii or the PC version.

US on sale,8 bucks, but isn't suppose re4 to be the classic of classics?

So I'm eying the Disgaea games. I'm only interested in getting one at the moment and I'm wondering whether I should take the plunge on 1, 2, or 3? Looking for a combination of the best story and gameplay content in the series. Any recommendations?

Some people like to nitpick the port.
I played through it and it was fine as far as I was concerned.
Assuming you don't have a PC capable of gaming and you don't have a Wii with a gamecube controller, PS3 version should be fine.

wii with pointer is definitely the best way to go imo.

haven't tried the ps3 HD port - but have shied away based off hearing it's a step down I don't want to take. i'm sure it's 100% acceptable though.

Alright, I wasn't quite sure where to ask this (the Infamous thread might bring me better results) but since this is a general PSN thing - does anyone know if I have to boot up infamous (or any PSN game) for it to finish downloading? I ask this because I left it downloading the first 5 gigs this morning, but my internet is slow as hell and I kind of hope some more progress was made throughout the day...

Furthermore, how can we check the progress of the other ~20 gigs? do they show up as a separate download on the notifications > downloads screen, or is there some counter in game? (like I believe I remember seeing on some NBA 2K14 vids.)

If the download if complete, you have to also instal the game (which might be a problem if you don't have enough space; the PS3 has instals require TWICE the amount of space the game really takes up) then after that you should be able to play the game. That is very different if you are talking about Second Son, as the PS4 is a beast when it comes to downloading/instals; after you download the game, it only takes about 1-3 minutes before you can start playing the game (I think from what PS4 owners here have been saying).

Hope this helps and you enjoy your game :); the Infamous series is a really fun one.

It's weird that Iron Galaxy prioritized a native resolution over a consistent frame rate, and better animations, etc. A poor resolution could certainly hurt playability, but the other factors are much more important.

At least that's something... GOW and Sly aren't native res(702x408 if I have to guess) and it's not unlikely that they will run like shit as well. Sanzaru don't let me down :'(

I agree btw, when the game runs like this it just makes no sense to make it native res.

If you're in love with the Wii pointer, yeah, it's a "step down". But I personally believe that it (and 90% of games out there) should be played with a controller.

Hmm, unfortunately that doesn't quite answer my question xD See, the thing is that Infamous is a 25+ gb download, but the PS4 usually lets you start playing games after just a small part of that is done. In Infamous' case, that's just 5gb - as soon as that finishes, I can boot up the game and start playing.

The confusion I have though, is that once I started downloading Infamous, all that showed up was a single 5 gb file. Now, just like you, I'm used to the PS3 way of doing things - download and then install. I know that the install step is unnecessary on the PS4, but I'm still kind of puzzled about how the next 20 gbs get downloaded - does the ps4 automatically start downloading it without prompting, or do i have to first boot up the game and it'll download in the background?

Obviously, the logical thing would be for it to continue downloading without any contact on my end, and that's what I initially thought was the case. But after seeing that 5gb file, and reading some other comments online (nothing that explicitly says I have to launch the game, but vague enough to have me doubting), I was just kind of curious to see if anyone else had an idea... again, this is mostly me a bit bored at work waiting till I get the chance to go home and find out myself XD

EDIT - Thanks for the reply though! And yeah, I love the inFamous series, and this one's looking like it may be the best one yet!

Actually, Sly 2 and 3 are Native Res while Sly 1 isn't Native Res...that is really weird considering how Sly 1 is an almost 12-14 year old game. That being said, GOW is close to Native Res (I think it at least has some kind of AA) and Sanzaru is fimilar with Vita tech with there work on Sly 4 Vita (which outside of the Stone Age world, runs great on Vita with Native Res to boot), so I have hope that those collections run good on Vita.

Another Jak Collection quality port would be embarrassing for Sony (shame to, as those games are perfect for Vita and with Daxter and Lost Frontier, one could of had all the Jak games minus Combat Racing in one spot :().

I really don't know (as I don't own a PS4 myself), but it might just be best to wait till the game is fully downloaded. It may suck to wait, but at least you could play something else while the game is downloading or let the game download the game overnight (a thing I always do for the bigger games I get with PS+ or sales). Sorry if I can't really help you with your problem :(.

Another J&D quality port is already there, and released just a month before that.

Sony should really be ashamed. I platinumed Jak 1 and finished 2-3, but that doesn't mean that they royally fucked that up.

BTW Sly 2-3 didn't seem native res to me. Maybe close, but not native, did they say something about that?

But that's the problem, I don't know how I'll know if it's downloaded or not xD hahaha

Don't worry about it, I'll probably get home to see more than just the initial 5gb file downloaded. I'm just used to the PS3 way things are done as well (That overnight PS+ download thing goes for me as well), so am a bit confused how the PS4 will handle this. No worries though, I'll find out in a couple of hours!

If your talking about Ratchet FFA, the Vita version was just an after thought...which sucked but it wasn't that bad (people who got FFA got Dreadlock for free, so I guess it makes up for the horrid Vita port of FFA?).

As for Sly 2/3 being native res and the general quality of the Sly/GOW Vita Collections, Sanzaru did get a decent amount of development time to work on this (Sly 4 finished dev October/November 2012, which give them...about a year or so to work on this + the 3ds Version of Sonic Boom, as they are working on that as well), so we can expect a MUCH better port of those collections compared to the Jak Collection (also keep in mind that the Jak games used odd technical stuff to run on PS2 using PS1 parts in the PS2 amongst other factors, so porting the games to Vita must have been quite the challenge of itself).

I don't know, but I hope the Sly/GOW collections are okay on Vita; if they are cross buy the will be a lot of fun to replay again :).

The graphics discussion is going nowhere since good graphics cannot turn Borderlands into a fun game. The game also won't sell anyway, so why bother?

You mean on the Vita? You should probably either get D3 or wait for D4 to be released over the summer. The stories are not connected (besides D1 and DD2), although some characters from the older games show up in newer entries and are eventually playable. The gameplay is roughly the same in all Disgaea games, with newer games adding more game mechanics to the already complicated mess (in a good way).

I started downloading through the web page at work this morning. After an hour it went from "downloading" to "playable". I just checked again, and my download list is empty.

So, I'm assuming it continues to download on it's own after it's "playable", without you having to physically start the game.

I was worried about the same thing.

Thanks! Yeah I was looking for playing on the Vita. I expected 3 might be the best pick but I wasn't sure how fans felt.

Want my opinion on the game? It's the greatest game that has ever existed. I didn't want to mention that because, well, you wouldn't take me seriously.

PS3 version is absolutely acceptable. It's just, call me romantic or something, a game like that deserves much, much better.Since it's on sale go for it, though. It won't be the last time you buy the game, that's for sure! :P

Well, there is this thing. You already know about it but maybe somebody missed it.

So according to that Twitter account Takao posted, the GDC build is an unoptimized one with framerate issues due to a wider FOV and increased details over previous builds. The "lock ups" are also supposedly the result of an auto aim glitch when large enemies are close. The dev team is working on fixing them.

Other interesting "facts":
-All Borderlands 2 DLC will be on Vita, released every 2-3 weeks.
-Gearbox is contemplating bringing all future installments of Borderlands to Vita (lol).
-In the event that the above is unfeasible, a Borderlands subseries may begin development.
-Based on the success of this, they may decide to port Borderlands 1 over with new items, missions, and characters.

Even if the unoptimized build part is true, who knows if they'll be fixed by release?
My expectations are low tbh, but what I'm seeing in the Youtube footage looks more playable then I initially assumed the game would turn out.

The part about future installments or a Borderlands subseries is a joke. I don't think it'll ever happen unless this thing manages to sell really well, what I think won't happen due to the fact that it's really late. I'll love to be wrong though.

So I got a PS4 with Infamous today. Cool game, cool console. Also, REMOTE PLAY IS AWESOME. Seriously it works so well. Played some Infamous and Resogun on it and both felt so smooth. Aiming was a bit awkward on Vita because of the small sticks but that aside remote play was really good and it's something I see myself doing a lot. Another excuse to play my Vita more. I didn't exactly need one, but I love it anyway.

Oh yeah and what the hell is up with the inability to pause downloads on PS4? Such a basic feature that I can't believe isn't there. I'm also disappointed that standby doesn't work the way it does on handhelds. I was under the impression that putting the system in standby would save your session exactly as it was without you needing to load things again. That's what they said when the PS4 was unveiled anyway. Also the whole play a game while it's still downloading feature they talked about at that unveil isn't there. Not for the free PS Plus games I downloaded anyway. Is that feature there for the big titles?

You won't be wrong sadly. Unless of course SCEA are willing to fund and develop this series for the Vita
not happening

" -Gearbox is contemplating bringing all future installments of Borderlands to Vita."

This one doesn't deserve a "lol". PlayStation Now, and Remote Play means it will happen.

what are the best game or games I can get for 20 bucks on the vita
