Also can I just say (location spoiler): B
lack Gulch is the worst fucking area in the game. I literally sprinted through it from start to finish and dove into the boss fight and took him on one on one. Cool boss but very easy.
Also apparently there's a second bonfire? Whoops.

tonight solo...a real pain in the ass that was. Now I have all the great souls and have no idea where to go next. Emerald herald said go to the castle but fuck if I know where that is. Figured I'd finally be able to access the doors that were blocked off before but I guess I'm still missing something. Not asking for help mind you, I'd like to find my own way...just saying this is the first time in the game that I'm at a loss at how to progress. Will spend all day tomorrow backtracking it seems.

If I were to imbue the mace with lightning, is it better to pump faith and have just enough strength for equip requirements? Or are you better off pumping both strength/faith to take advantage of the B strength scaling?

Yeah, they're both going to have similar scaling so I'd suggest raising both stats. It helps to be able to have enough strength for certain great shields, too.

Dropped all my stones and petrified somethings and got the white ring + old whip for my troubles. The ring will be pretty amusing to use.

Was there a way to open that blocked up mine shaft looking place in the forest of the giants castle? I think there was another nearby area where all of the iron turtles were that also showed a ledge I couldn't access

I wanna know this too. I kept looking at that area and trying to figure out how to get to it.

is a pussy. I was expecting something much worse based on the reactions I've seen in this thread. Circle strafing ruins him.

Just invaded some guy named Hintzilla in the belltower on Xbox and I couldnt lock onto him and he was invincible. Wtf?!

Also he kept doing the no way emote...I felt dumb

i been farming twinklingltitanite and P bones in
Dragon Aerie
with Bonfire ascetic. Its surprisingly easy, with my melee guy, or just bring a good bow and lots of poison arrows for the
dragons
ps. No bosses here so go wild with the bonfire ascetic

I thought
Shrine of Amana
was much worse. Nothing fun about that area at all.

Yep, worse area out of all three Souls games for me. Guy you replied to probably isn't up to there though, so he has something to look forward to.
It sure looked beautiful though.

You're running to
the tip of where his tail is when he flies up?

Yup, every single time. Works about 80% of the time I guess. Sometimes I think I screwed up and he's gonna get me, and nope. Sometimes I run the same way I always run, and bam I take the hit. I sincerely don't get it.

Now I summon a guy to help me out he doesnt even follow me than sends me a message saying "souls 2 spare?" Wtf again! What a weird night.

Amana
wasn't that bad. Did you guys not bring any long range form of attack? Magic? Bows, knifes, ect. I feel like in that area the game is clearly telling you to fight long range.

Nope. I completed that whole area in heavy melee gear. Was as bad as you can imagine but at the end I felt like a man.

I always regretted not going as a sorcerer, most of the phantoms that are actually helpful are usually casting souls magic.
That's the great thing about the respec items this time around. Sure, it's not as if you could ever truly be stuck with inferior stats, but the climb does get steeper and steeper, nevermind replays that allow you to take wildly different approaches without starting with a fresh character.

... Man, I need to look up some A

strategies. I'm practicing as a phantom, and I do fairly well, but then I still get hit sometimes anyway. But like I said the biggest flaw with these optional bosses is that it seems like they have a really, really stupid and basic pattern, but if you get hit once you're either dead or nearly dead.

I did. But sniping enemies from behind cover isn't particularly my idea of what I want out of a Souls game.

So...holy fucking shit. Just got to a room that seems like it's stupid impossible. Late game location spoilers:
I just got to Drangleic Castle. What the FUCK is up with that room with FIVE Ruin Sentinels in it? Plus another 6 fucking regular dudes? AND they respawn every time you die?
-throws up hands and walks away-

i cleared that out for their armor set. the sentinels dont respawn, but the stones do.

forever

That requires a good tank (i.e. me). I could solo bosses and grab attention so everyone else can burst them down.

Sunbro represent!

I have the same problem. I know the strategy actually, it's just infuriating how apparently
running half a degree from its tail
may or may not get you killed.

He's honestly a poor boss, IMO (yeah I'll still say that after I beat him... and I will!). Not fun. Kalameet wasn't as hard, but he was more fun to fight. He was challenging, but he had a variety of attacks and he mixed it up, and it was just overall more dynamic and exciting. This asshole is just boring to fight. :(

Yeah, Kalameet was tough and frustrating, but that fucking tail aside wasn't really a badly designed boss as I recall. This guy though, he's just cheap.

Respecing isn't as easy as it sounds, am already used to fighting with a huge sword (Greatsword) and then i have to find a better armor. It's just a huge hassle. Maybe i'll go in another run.

Also, i gave it up on the boss, since i couldn't see any summon signs.

Orange Burr, Rapier +10 and some Aromatic Ooze made
Smelter Demon
a piece of cake.

Iron Keep is probably my favorite area so far.

Nope. I completed that whole area in heavy melee gear. Was as bad as you can imagine but at the end I felt like a man.

Fuck.
I attempted it once, and was like F thins, I'm upgrading my bow.

I did. But sniping enemies from behind cover isn't particularly my idea of what I want out of a Souls game.

I think this is a fair criticism. I also think a little pew-pew section mixes things up a bit. Bows played a larger role in Des and DS for me, and in DS2
Amana
was the only area I really used it.

then again, I'm hopelessly stuck at the
ancient dragon
so what do I know?

True, at a minimum you can't exactly respec how you used up your reinforcement materials.

And admittedly respecing's probably more useful for deciding you want to branch out a bit when you have a ton of soul levels, I only did it once but it was because I wanted to get some magic options opened up at the expense of a little STR/DEX and a lot of ADP. Not full on turn my character into a mage (although I think my point may still hold for NG+. Do it at the start, and you gather up materials and all against relatively weak enemies.)

The amount of people who don't know how to
drain the poison in Earthen Peak
is hilarious. Not really hinted so you can't blame them.I like helping them out though.

You can
drain the poison?

fml... I fought her in it. It was a tough battle, but not terrible.

Beat Royal Rat Authority after a couple tries. Dumb rat. The fight is much easier when you get lucky and manage to kill the four smaller rats first.

I didn't know until I did coop and someone else had already done it in their world. I hadn't actually tried fighting in my own world yet.

Speaking of that area, is that Pharros lock in the nearby room a complete troll? Did I waste a key on it?

Where can I get some good armor here? Been playing pure melee, and have had the Drangleic set(minus helm) for waaaaay too long, but it's still outclassing everything I find.

lol I am still rolling around in Leather armor to keep my equip burden at ~35%. It's not even upgraded. I'm still playing in a "dodge or die" kinda way and it has been fucking fun.
