I'll toss a summon sign down in a bit if you're still there...

You can't summon help for that boss.

I unpetrified
Straid
Why didn't he give me the
black hood?

You need to trade 4 boss souls to him then talk before he'll give you his clothes.

Is there a second bonfire in no mans?

Nope.

The only time the +5 INT or +5 FA rings are ever worth it, is if you are no longer going to raise VIG at all. Ring of Life +1 gives you 10 SL worth of VIG, and the INT/FA rings are only 5 SL.

Who is talking about VIG? If you want +5 int or faith to use a spell with a stat req., why would Ring of Life help?

I'm getting very close to the end
Just got the Giant Souls from the memory sequence you enter using the ash thing
and realized that there are bosses I've read about that I never encountered. I think I'm going to have to take a full sweep of the world one last time before I push toward the end. I never even came across the
Chariot boss area
and still am missing four covenants.

okay...never tried. Was just going to help!

Fuuuuck I knew I forgot to do something. I've read some of the lore but I wanted to hear it from her own mouth. I still don't get the ending though.

The way I see it,
it's exactly what it looks like. You knock off Nashandra and become the ruler of Drangleic, to hopefully lead it into a shiny future. If you talk to Shalquoir (the cat in Majula) she calls you by the title of Monarch and says how she hopes you will go on to do even greater things.

Anyone else's Freja soul look a little less than grand in their inventory?

Sigh, I'm nearing the end of the game. I think all I have left is to kill a few optional end-game bosses and then beat the final boss. Kind of sad it's over (currently at around 60 hours), but it's probably about time I move on, anyways, lol. Gonna replay it at some point, but not right away. I've really enjoyed it.

Look, 5 INT or FA = 5 SL. Instead of wearing that ring, you could wear another that gives you more health than 5 SL worth if you're going to be raising your health anyway and just raise your INT or FA by 5 instead.
Like I said though, I'll need to recheck the actual gains on that ring. I'm 99% sure I gained more than 70 hp from it. It was closer to 300.

Yeah I guess that is the case. It just kinda comes weird.
How do you rule a kingdom from inside a tiny stone room, with no subjects or anything?
Anyway, I saw a guy wearing a crown. Does anyone know what it's called and where to get it? It'd look great with the Throne Watcher set.

Having some trouble beating the
Spider Freja
boss at Brightstone Cove. :( It wouldn't bother me so much if the way to the boss wasn't so annoying and lengthy. Anyone have tips for this?

Is she one of the main souls to get? I thought that too, her soul was just like a normal bosses. Then I wasn't sure if she was one of the main 4

Only way I beat her was having an NPC summon to distract. But a good tip is
that whatever head is attacking, run to the opposite one and attack it. She never attacks with both.

So I thought of this while arena pvping recently:

At the start when I'm still in the cage I pop up a silver talisman. It gives me an advantage at the start since the opponent has little time to react to your first attack (most efficient attack so far has been halberd spin). They can't lock-on onto me while I'm transformed and the best of all: ennemy homing spells that proc when you get close DON'T proc.

Depends what you want to do with your build, but this definitely isn't always worth it. Anyway I don't want to load another character with more vig at the moment, but on this current one at 16, HP went from 1255 to 1349. Meh.

Finally, Bell Keepers covenant rank 2, so I got Hidden Weapon. Now I need to get 30 SunBro medals and then I can just blitz through the game to buy the rest of the covenant spells from Wellager.

I'm SL160, where should I put down my summon sign? Still in NG but can go to NG+ no problem.

ng+ Lost Sinner is probably a good choice. Had fast summons there as sl150.

Skeptics Spice

I have a bunch of these, can I use multiple on the same miracle? Am I right to save them all for
Sunlight Spear (which requires 55 faith)?

I used a bunch of these before I respec'd to get a few miracles, the problem is that while you certainly can lower the cost of a spell, it won't matter if your faith gets so low that the spell becomes worthless, not to mention casting time. That said, a few others have pointed out various rings that can up your faith and things like that. Just have to think if that ring slot could be better used, or if you want to be locked into using a ring slot to make a build viable.

I think there are enough videos on youtube of it now, but he's quite easy to 'cheese' if you stay near his back legs. My first try with him was on my sorcerer and I probably died like 15 times trying to play a more 'ranged' game and keep trying to make him do that forward fire instead of the AoE but it would fail at some point.

If you stay near his back legs you can force him to do one of three attacks, one of which is the big AoE but because you're right near the back legs + tail (and running towards the tail / shadow will save you during that fire AoE) it was easy enough to escape.

Anyway, he did it maybe twice the entire battle. On the youtube videos people have been put out, he does it way more often and I don't know why. I won't say this 100% since it's just been an observation rather than a test, but it felt like if you're under him and standing pretty still, he's waaay less likely to do that AoE vs. one of the other two attacks. The normal attacks were the foot stomp and the under-belly-breath thing, which are both much easier to dodge.

I read to run towards it's tail, but about 1 out of 3 times the aoe hits me anyway. Plus he pretty much does the aoe 2 out of every 3 attacks. This is by far the hardest boss for me in a souls game. I have never been stuck on one for more than like 20 minutes, but I've been at this one for at least 2 hours.

Haha. same thing with me. The 'run towards the tail' thing is true, but if you're not anywhere near the tail it won't help you anyway. Staying near his back legs works with running towards the tail because immediately when (if) he flies up to do the AoE, you're right around the tail anyway so just look at where the shadow is and run.

Watching A Stream with I think a Namco community manager there. He brought up Soul Memory and that it's something they want to see where it goes for awhile but that they are looking at the feedback and it can be something changed serverside if it turns out to not be that great. It's still really early on and they just want to see how it goes.

The achievements in this game are absolutely wretched.

Design a brilliant and challenging game full of discovery and hard won victories.....award players for trading with NPC's and exhausting their dialogue.

Fucking god why?

I invaded a dude who was afk in the bonfire , obviously the next thing i did was to destroy his equipment with acid and poison him to death, that will teach him to quit to menu next time he has shit to do.
I finally defeated the rotten i only had to summon a couple of guys to do it but still, now Mytha, the Baneful Queen is kicking my ass.

So did we ever find out whether the minions that
Looking Glass Knight
summons are NPCs or other players? They weren't acting like players, but only one of them survived more than a second.

Doing PVP in Belfry Sol to get my Bellkeeper Rank 2 for the spell... Not that much action but still bearable, sadly im level 160.

10 victories so far, another 20 to go!

The red phantom that spawns there sometimes counts towards your total as well. Basically just start from the bonfire, climb the ladder and run around the corner to check if hes there, then drop back down the hole and reset it. He also drops a cool sword and armor set so it can be worth the time. Killed him 35 times earlier and only got 3 parts of his armor though.

Happens in NG+. You can put a red soapstone where the battle takes place and you have a chance of being summoning from what I read.

which pyromancy glove is better? I'm upgrading the normal one since but I'm not doing a faith/int build so is the dark one (that scales only with hollowing and not faith/int) better for me?

also the fuck is wrong with grey phantoms? I got summoned as one in some random places where enemies attacked ONLY me. uuh, ok? I thought it was only to protect that bell dungeon.

Grey phantoms have two uses. The area you are in differs from the bell towers

Yeah I beat him again after a bonfire ascetic.
It tells you very clearly when it's another player being summoned, much like when there's an invasion. It's a pretty cool mechanic.

I gave it another 20 minutes, but eventually one of the aoes just get me. I am usually fine with stuff like this, but this particular fight just peeves me. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong, since I do the exact same pattern every time yet occasionally get different results.

Yes! Lazurspiderz boss
Freya
down on 2nd try. Deceptively simple fight, and such a cool boss design. Reminded me of Quadraxis (MP2) lite. So far, the most difficult boss for me is still
The Pursuer
.. oddly enough.

Edit: What the heck do I use the Brightstone Key for? I unlocked a door and got a
Black Knight Ultra Greatsword
, anyplace else I can use it for?

I'm SL130 odd with my pertinent stats being STR at 40 and VIG/END/ADP all in the low 30s. VIT is also up there as I'm able to rock a heavy helm, full Vengarl and a Gyrm Great Hammer below 70.0. Delicious.

Anyway, I Just faced
The Looking Glass Knight
and it was surprisingly easy. I was expecting him to be a lot faster and a lot more aggressive, to be honest; similar to
The Lost Sinner
, basically. I think it's largely due to a +10 Gyrm Great Hammer at 40 STR being able to absolutely eviscerate everything.

I'm feeling over-levelled. Accurate?

So, in Forest of the Fallen Giants, in the area with all the archers, there is an item below the scaffoling against the wall of the cave where you meet the cartographer. Does anybody know how to reach that? It's kinda driving me crazy, it looks like there's no way in there.

OK, so I've activated every bonfire in the game... but I still haven't gotten the achievement. Is there anything I'm missing?

Talk to Cartographer Cale in the Majula mansion.

The achievement is tied to progression rather than actually lighting all bonfires. You have to beat the final boss then speak to him.

Ah, thanks! I actually have to get him to the mansion first then I suppose, I talked to him and got the mansion key but he never showed up there.

Edit: Forgot to exhaust all his dialogue first! Have to remember to keep doing that with NPCs...

This game is simply massive, I have no clue how some people are already finished the game. Simply madness, I have missed entire levels just by making a wrong turn and to think some have fully explored the entire game.
