What will Nintendo do at E3 2014?

I think they will have a solid showing. SSB will be there as a trailer or maybe demo. I think a reveal of Metroid might happen and maybe Even Zelda.

For Wii U:
Smash Bros.
Bayonetta 2
X
Yarn Yoshi
Zelda U Trailer
A bunch of eShop games.
Something Mario OR Pokémon-related, other than Smash Bros.

For 3DS:
Smash Bros.
Pokémon R/S Remakes
???

And I think this would be the right time to announce a new FZero/Waverace/Starfox/Metroid (pick one!) if we're lucky. Could be eShop.

...and I personally want a new Rhythm Heaven. ._.

EDIT: Forgot Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. Was this ever confirmed for NA? Also forgot Hyrule Warriors.

No Quality of Life stuff? They gotta fit it in somewhere. Probably drop metroid for it. That infuriates me to a degree, but if anything would have to be dropped, it would probably be it :^(

QoL probably won't be until late this year, as they aren't launching anything until 2016.

On stage presentation.

Zelda U
Smash 4 newcomers (including Pac-Man)
X full reveal, story trailer, title etc
NFC stuff
Animal Crossing U
Majora's Mask 3D
Metroid 3DS sidescroller

Take out metroid 3DS and that's a solid list.
We could also see Fire Emblem X SMT, Yarn Yoshi, QOL shit, a new Paper Mario for WiiU (I think it's inminent now), and a surprise!

Downplay E3 and just do a Direct. They can't compete with Sony as a platform holder so they wont even try. I think E3 will be pretty dire this year in general. Sequels sequels sequels, no risk, more of the same. And no surprises from Nintendo.

I suspect they will do what they did last year with the direct. I would bet on one GameCube hd remaster, Zelda trailer and more of what we already know.

Realistically-
Pokken Fighters (clarification and quarter/year)
Animal Crossing U (quarter this year)
Zelda U (confirmed) (this year BELIEVE)
Maybe the Pokemon game this/next year (release date/quarter)
Yarn Yoshi (quarter)
X (release date)
Bayonetta 2 (release date)

SMT x FE (details/quarter next year)
Announce that a Metroid game is in the works
Majoras Mask 3D
NFC Game
Miyamoto's new game
Sonic Boom
Smash 4 Release Date+ big character or 2/3
Hyrule Warriors

Some of these are half and half, and not all of these will be shown. However, this is the pool from which we can make choices
Bolded are very likely

But what I expect:
Above+
All slated for 2014 release date
MEtroid U/3DS
F-ZERO U/GX HD
Mario Galaxy (2) HD
Xenoblade HD
Every single VC game on Wii+Mother 3 on WiiU/3DS VC
Iga Metroidvania
Startropics sequel
Custom Robo U
Mother 4
Single account with cross buy
Reggie giving us all free Pizza Hut pizza for a year
Every single 3rd party game on other consoles now WiiU exclusive
Half Life 3 WiiU exclusive
Same with Shenmue 3
Sin & Punishment 3
Star Fox U
Kid Icarus Uprising Revengeance
Wonderful 102
Devil's 3rd
Minecraft (why dont they have this yet)
More stuff GAF wants and more impossible stuff (these may be mutually exclusive in cases)

I do expect some surprises though

I have to agree with QoL.

Nintendo will probably see NA as the perfect target for such a thing. I feel like they're going to focus a bit of time on QoL and people are going to get mad that whatever the hell it is. isn't focused mainly on games.

Seeing as Nintendo really have yet to be public on such a device, I think they'll see it as a perfect opportunity to do so. Of course, the way Nintendo will try to market it will be horrible, and only seen as a cheap gimmick, regardless of how much they put into it.

Isn't the QoL stuff supposed to be different to their gaming stuff? That'd be like Sony rocking up to E3 and showing off TVs.

What the hell is Nintendo doing?! A fire is burning under their feet and they are sitting their burning... Its time for them to get up and fight!
Its like they already gave up. QoL products aren't the answer, that market is already too crowded.

Its time for some big changes, sorry Iwata you tried your best...

We know we're getting X, Bayo, Zelda Musou, Zelda U, Smash, and hopefully Yoshi Yarn and SMTXFE on the Wii U side. In the 3DS side it could be anything. Ruby, Sapphire, or MM remakes, Advance Wars, Wario-something, DQXI, who knows.

I think it's very likely we'll see an actual Metroid game in some form and Animal Crossing U, but outside of that it's really a tossup when it comes to new announcements.

I would expect little outside of Zelda U. Nintendo showed very little even in those 'crucial' Wii years were they desperately needed to show off games.

A Man can dream!

  • Final Bayonetta 2 trailer and release date.
  • Hype as fuck X tailer with the final name revealed. Xeno-something I'm guessing unless they actually stick with X.
  • Hyrule Warriors Trailer and release window or actual date if they are feeling generous. Guessing by holiday season.
  • Cute Yarn Yoshi trailer.
  • NFC title. Guessing it'll be Pokémon based. Maybe even related to that Pokémon fighting game.
  • Indie trailers/ sizzle reel. Talks about how important they are and eShop shenanigans.
  • SSB4 trailer and new characters announced. On stage demo with Sakurai himself.
  • Wii-Something title for the family.
  • Virtual Console initiative. Doubling down on it. N64 games announced for Wii U and SNES/GBA games for 3DS.
  • Surprise 3rd Party exclusive.
  • Monster Hunter 5 trailer.
  • Localisation of 3rd Party Japanese 3DS games.
  • Zelda U trailer. 2015 at the end of the trailer.

Crappy wording by me. I meant that they wouldn't have a presentation in the mold of MS, Sony, Ubi, and EA. They'll probably do a Nintendo Direct afterwards.

I think that is pretty much garanteed until they have a new console to anounce, in my honest opinion it would only make them look bad if they tried to stand side by side with the others, given their current offers.

I still don't get how the Nintendo direct they did last year was all that different to what other companies do (Aside from the shitty stream, but that was more the service and the numbers watching than anything). I don't think it was even at a different time. The only major difference is that there wasn't a physical conference room and we got to see it without using press sites as intermediates.

I TRULY hope they do a big press conference this year. Nintendo Direct at E3 last year was nice but it wasn't enough to attract the mass media as press conferences do, meaning, only Nintendo fans watched it. They need to go big and do a Press Conference, especially since this is going to be the presentation on wich the next big Zelda game is gonna be revealed, so we can see the audience's reaction and bring hype to everyone. I miss Reggie's speech on stage, always full of confidence and hope and Miyamoto doing silly numbers while revealing new games and trailers.

I'm optimistic actually on what they would present at E3. My predictions:
-Bayonetta 2, X (with final name revealed) and Hyrule Warriors final trailers and release date for the three titles.
-Smash Bros surprise character reveal, online features, megaton surprise announcement and finally a release date.
-Miyamoto's new IP
-New game by Intelligent Systems.
-Yoshi's Yarn info.
-Lot's of indie games, VC stuff and (hopefully) 3rd Party games.
-Metroid for 3DS and Pokémon Z for 2015.
-Suprise announcement.
-THE LEGEND OF ZELDA U.

Go big or go home this E3, Nintendo! It's now or never!

Apparently watching a Live Stream from Nintendo is completely different than watching a Live Stream from IGN.

As much as I'd love a new Metroid game announcement be it for WiiU or 3ds, I'd rather have it for WiiU, possibly made by Retro Studios, and yes, Fucking Metroid Prime 4.

But seriously, if it's a new Metroid game and Ninja Team is not involved, then it's good news.

Now would be a good time for Bosman to tell Nintendo what they need to do at E3 this year. And they should actually follow his advice.

I think they confirmed Zelda U would be there, as they almost showed it last year until they realised that would risk making their Direct actually interesting. I'm expecting some attention for Yarn Yoshi, date and title for X, Smash Bros, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, some fitness nonsense and 3DS stuff (I don't own one so have no idea what may be on the horizon). Anything new will most likely be more Mario, and at a real push, a new Metroid.

As usual, my advice: don't get your hopes up.

People act like sites like IGN weren't even reporting on the stuff, when I'm pretty sure all of them did and had places to link to the direct.

What the hell is Nintendo doing?! A fire is burning under their feet and they are sitting their burning... Its time for them to get up and fight!

Well, it's not like they could do anything other than maybe straight up buy 3rd party support (which they don't want). Their utterly ridiculous shortsightedness have left them with a serious lack of resources for HD development and some of their more prominent teams were already wasted on platforming sequels no one asked for in a new gen (which still overwhelmed their teams regardless, lol), so the result is a shitty platform they just have to watch slowly burn to death because they can't just magically make games appear out of nowhere within the next two years - the last January event is gonna be pretty much the whole library at the end of it's life (especially with pseudo announcements such as Zelda included)
It would help to have a conference though and not further act like they don't need to be part of the industry. Then focus on the 3DS and a revision or something...

On stage presentation.

Zelda U
Smash 4 newcomers (including Pac-Man)
X full reveal, story trailer, title etc
NFC stuff
Animal Crossing U
Majora's Mask 3D
Metroid 3DS sidescroller

Take out the Zelda stuff and Metroid and add Miyamoto's new game, and that's basically it, as far as we can reliably predict.

EDIT: Oh, and Bayonetta, Hyrule Warriors, Yarn Yoshi, and SMT X FE, of course.

they won't even go.

I think they might but who knows?

If they do have a E3 Event or something of that equivalent Hopefully we'll see
  • New Bayo 2 Trailer
  • New Smash Bros Characters
  • More X
  • Hyrule Warriors!
  • New Zelda
  • *crossing my fingers* Starfox or Metroid
  • Maybe something Mario
  • Pokken Fighters
  • New IP

But here's what I want( Prepare for me to be disappointed, but a guy can dream cant he?)

  • Paper Mario?
  • Earthbound Collection for Wii U and 3DS
  • No More Heroes 3(?)
  • F-ZERO U
  • Wonderful 101 Sequel
  • Chibi Robo Sequel

But, i think ill be happy whatever is revealed for the Wii U or Nintendo in general as long as its something.

The different is that they could've got a bigger audience if they decided to go with the usual big press conference, instead of just having people that are familiar with Nintendo Directs.

I think it's their year for an on-stage appearance. Last year's absence seemed to be a reaction to next-gen unveilings, so there's little reason to think they'll go online-only this year as well. As for what to show-
* New 3DS Model. The XL has been out for awhile, and the original 3DS is in due need of a non-XL revision. For Nintendo's leading platform, they're not giving the hardware the attention it needs.
* Both a figurative and literal assload of WiiU bundles. You know what sells hardcore users on consoles? Software. You know what makes both software and hardware more attractive? Free software with the hardware. You know who needs to sell both hardware and software? Nintendo. You know what system Nintendo is trying to sell? The WiiU. You know what system has a lot of attractive hardcore-focused games on the horizon? The WiiU. You know what system has trouble sales-wise, especially among the core? The WiiU. I think you can follow my logic.
* Metroid. Reggie, stop the teasing. It's out there. It's coming. For your sake, I hope it's here this year. And honestly, I hope it's on the 3DS. I think I'd rather see a ALBW-style revival of Super Metroid, than Retro trying to recapure the Prime magic.
* Super Luigi 3D World. If Nintendo wants to keep on the train of expansion packs for Mario titles, I'll gladly buy more 3D World.
* Firm dates for Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2, and Yoshi's Epic Yarn.
* Speaking of Smash - Confirmation of Bayonetta, Prince Fluff, and a either Snake, or a Snake replacement (My bet is on Leon S Kennedy). We'll also see a delay of the 3DS version into 2015.
* Finally, we'll see Nintendo's official strategy for working with the mobile environment. Expect a flood of companion apps, and a wide array of online content for Smash. Somebody onstage will say ESports, and it will be WIERD.

Hopefully they will announce that they will become a 3rd party developer.

They are really hindering themselves by staying in the hardware business and limiting the reach of their own talent (the old devs still making Nintendo games... the real Nintendo, not the hierarchical corporate jerks like Reggie). They are not doing anyone favors by going the "weaker console in lieu of innovate gameplay" route" because Wii U's sales have been lackluster at best. The Wii route did not appeal this gen.
They still know how to make some quality 1st party games that are super fun... but they are shooting themselves in the foot by keeping them exclusive to the Wii U. I think they are capable of producing some really innovative games on a device like Oculus Rift, and I wish they would.

So please Nintendo, get off your high horse. Stay in the handheld business if you want, but get out of the console business.... you have too many great franchises to be restraining on your console that did not penetrate nearly as much as PS4.
They don't need to make games for Sony's console but at least be open to make some games for the PC + Oculus Rift... they can definitely shine and generate sales that will make it worthwhile.

Expect nothing

Unfortunately this is the best post. Nintendo is way too unpredictable to even guess.

I can only hope they have some western-themed game that finally makes us understand the controller as well as finally having Xbox and Playstation die-hards look up ( ridiculously hoping for a reastic Metroid online FPS with vehicles akin to Battlefield ). Haha why do I even do this to myself ...

The different is that they could've got a bigger audience if they decided to go with the usual big press conference, instead of just having people that are familiar with Nintendo Directs.
Why and how? EVERY SITE THAT WOULD SHOW A CONFERENCE SHOWED THE DIRECT. EVERY GODDAMN ONE. As far as the average viewer is concerned the only difference is the stream's source. I guess one could blame the stream's problems on the fact that there was only one source (and thus it got overloaded and had tons of lag), but even that doesn't make a huge difference in the long run since most people really aren't watching the conferences live anyways

Hopefully they will announce that they will become a 3rd party developer.

Oh my what the hell this shit again.
My dream list of craziness above is only a little more ridiculous. If it happens, it wont happen by E3
