What will Nintendo do at E3 2014?

-Kid Icarus U
Sakurai is busy and getting together the required band of people would be very noticeable.
Hell, they had to declare the formation of an entire studio for the first one.
-And hopefully Pokemon X2/Y2 (not Z please)
X/Y had enough problems. Rather they just fix it instead of making new ones. That said, RSEmakes first so they can have the best possible quality increase from improving the engine.

Price cut for one.

Second, they should hold a press conference. Them not having one last year made them look really weak and undermined the Wii:U in comparison to its competition.

Nintendo not having a press conference showed their diminishing influence the console and its brand has.

With the announcement of the NDS Virtual Console for the Wii U, could we possibly see the long-rumored "remakes" of Luigi's Mansion 2 and Kid Icarus Uprising?

I honestly don't think it changed anything for anyone except the press because they had to watch the ND too and it had technical difficulties (which was a problem). If nobody told the internet, they wouldn't have noticed.

All I really care about now is Majora's Mask 3D and Metroid 3DS. The only game that would make me by a Wii U is an Earthbound/Mother collection.

There'll be nothing new for the Wii U, only the expected (Zelda U), and I hope some good indie showcase to fill the gap.

They will more heavily tease their next "QOL" platform instead of pretending the Wii U has a future.

NFC titles are announced. But whatever.

All I hope is that they have a presentation, the direct lagged way too much. Also Zelda was already basically confirmed, and I think they'ed talked about the problems with having a direct, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had a presentation this year.

But Anouma already confirmed Zelda for E3.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/10/15/zelda-wii-u-info-coming-at-e3-2014

Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has teased that more information on Wii U’s HD The Legend of Zelda will be headed our way next summer.

When asked by Mashable when we might hear more about Wii U’s original Zelda debut, Aonuma simply said, “I'll say more at E3 2014.”

An HD prototype of Zelda on Wii U was first shown back at E3 2011 but a full game has never been formally revealed. Series creator Shigeru Miyamoto said at E3 2012 that the team had “a number of different experiments going on,” but didn’t offer any additional details.

Yeah, I have no idea why you guys keep thinking Zelda U isn't going to show up at E3.

Miyamoto will hit the stage and dance around with a sword and shield, announce a Wii U Zelda game that won't hit retail for a year and a half.

Nintendo announces the Wii U beanie. Wear it on your head, when you get an achievement the propeller on the beanie will spin.

I saw a dream about it last night.

So basically the following is basically confirmed...

- Kid Icarus: Uprising 2 for Wii U (release trailer is tied in some weird fashion to SSB4 trailer)
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze 2 made by some Norwegian indie company (as a weird detail they actually got rid of the good looking fur and are using the SSB4 model now)
- new DLC for NSMBU (full priced, features challenge, you can behind the scene like you could in SMB3)
- oh and some weird cross IP Doshin the Giant type of a game (I only remember seeing a giant creepy Ness)

At this point, the only thing Nintendo can do is announce new hardware. Let's face it, WiiU is a failure, they should scrap up what they can for their next system thingamajig. I don't think they should hold a conference for just the 3DS. They could and should announce iOS titles.

GTAV port for WiiU would be a nice surprise.

Add a new Excite game, Endless Ocean 3, Kid Icarus up-port and GC Star Wars HD remakes and call it a day.

At the very least they can link their Youtube channel from their official site which sucked donkey balls at trying to stream their E3 Direct.

They can't go wrong as long as they show an epic Zelda trailer accompanied with a playable demo. A Zelda Developer Interview much like last year's E3 games would be greatly appreciated.

Nintendo has gotten away with just bringing a picture of a game "cough skyward sword cough"

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they did this again with Zelda U..

Yeah, I have no idea why you guys keep thinking Zelda U isn't going to show up at E3.

It's simple. People want to trash Nintendo. Despite them saying numerous times that they will be at E3 and will be showing things such as Zelda and their NFC game, yet we get comments flooding the first couple of pages of "they won't even go". I mean hell, they were there last year, they just didn't do a conference, which is somewhat irrelevant to the people at home. They provided a Direct that provided information in quantity akin to a presentation of twice its size.

If you're a journalist and at E3, then them having no conference is a bit stupid, though they did have press meetings there, which people keep forgetting. If you're at home, it actually doesn't matter if it's a presentation or a Nintendo Direct. There's no difference except Nintendo Directs are more condensed, with less pause for the need to applause everything and less spouting of buzzwords to try and get journalist's attention.

At this point, the only thing Nintendo can do is announce new hardware. Let's face it, WiiU is a failure, they should scrap up what they can for their next system thingamajig. I don't think they should hold a conference for just the 3DS. They could and should announce iOS titles.

Maybe if Nintendo want to, you know, destroy their entire business.

Na. They mentioned last year that they were thinking about showing it at E3 last year, and then at Comic Con last year, so it's logically at the point it can be properly shown.

=====

Anyway, Nintendo has said that they are doubling down on the Wii U and the GamePad so we're going to see many of these. Maybe a 3DS revision too since it needs a bit of a restart

I would like to hear any of the following:

- Gamecube and NDS games on Wii U e shop.
- ANY news on a new Metroid game.
- An interesting looking Mario (a new interesting art and music style would be nice)
- Unified Nintendo account.

There will be a Kirby game on 3DS soon, so that will satisfy my Kirby itch.
I know a new Zelda is coming already and expect news on it.

So given how long Nintendo takes to release virtual console games, I'd rather hear news of how those are coming along because there are a lot of classics I missed or can't buy because of how expensive they are now.

Though I expect Universal Studios, Mary Kate and Ashley and Nintendogs as their launch VC games under those platforms.

I'd love to play Luigi's Mansion, Twin Snakes or Kirby Air Ride on Wii U. They were only released on Game cube and are expensive now, whereas games like REmake and Pikmin 1,2 I can play on any of the system and are relatively cheap.

Reggie will spend an hour talking about QOL, then as everyone is getting ready to kill themselves he'll say:

"Oh, btw, here's some new trailers for y'all:

  • Sin & Punishment 3 by Treasure
  • F-Zero U developed by Sega
  • Star Fox U developed by Platinum Games
  • Metroid Prime 4 by Retro
  • Metroid Dread 3DS by Retro/Monster Games
  • Zelda U
  • The Lastest Story by Mistwalker published by Nintendo
  • Pandora's Tower 2 by Gambarion published by Nintendo
  • New IP from Myamoto
  • New IP from E&D Tokyo
  • Pokelanders Wii U
  • New Wii U SKU with optional gamepad at $150
  • 3DS Lite
  • Free blowjobs for all (ambassador program for everyone who bought a Wii U within 2013)
"

they won't even go.

I'm hoping Nintendo doesn't duck this years press conference again. I mean sure if they are content being irrelevant as a big player in gaming by all means they can continue to rebel and play by their own rules by airing a Nintendo Direct from Iwata's office in Japan that will grab the eyes of thousands of Nintendo fans around the world, but will certainly neglect the mainstream media. If they are content with the direction of their business, by all means skip the opportunity to hold a press conference at E3 and continue doing what works for Nintendo.

However, I think Nintendo finally realizes how significant of a situation they're in. I don't want to sound too sensationalist, but this E3 could be the most important E3 for Nintendo in the company's history. Nintendo has been around since 1889 and didn't enter video gaming until almost a century later so Nintendo has only been a video game company for only a fraction of their timeline. They have been a card company much longer than they've been a video game company for example.

So, with this early talk of a new QOL platform they are working on, I can't help but wonder if Nintendo may be attempting to break away from video gaming...as their main source of income anyways. They could very well be testing the waters. If this proposed QOL platform becomes a wild success, why would they throw a ton of R&D into their gaming division? The Wii U's sales have shown us they lost touch with their audience and although the 3DS has been a success, more and more kids/young adults are moving to iOS and android to get their portable gaming fix so that audience is getting more and more difficult to retain. Besides, simply retaining an audience isn't good enough for Nintendo anyways, rather, we know they try to find ways to expand their audience.

In 5 years will Nintendo be a QOL company? Will they be part gaming part QOL? Maybe this QOL platorm will just be a blip on the company's history and I'm blowing the significance of this platform out of proportion in my mind. June can't come soon enough.

I honestly don't think it changed anything for anyone except the press because they had to watch the ND too and it had technical difficulties (which was a problem). If nobody told the internet, they wouldn't have noticed.

Everyone knows. While Microsoft and Sony had full conferences, it's obvious of Nintendo's smaller stage to the public. The fact Nintendo did not do a conference displays their waning influence in the gaming industry and the ability to 'shake' things up or make an impact. A Nintendo direct presentation does not get near enough attention as a fledged press conference directed to everyone. Instead Nintendo direct shrinks its reach from a mass audience to a niche audience, with Nintendo quickly being overshadowed and forgotten at e3.

Agree.

I really hope to see Zelda, another big Wii U game, and a big 3DS game. What I realistically expect (in terms of new announcements) is:

Zelda Wii U
Trailer/announcement of next metroid game (early in development still)
new casual game (e.g. Wii Party U2, Nintendoworld)
New pokemon spinoff for 3DS
Miyamoto's new IP

he said he will say more at e3, likely meaning he will say "it is going well, here is a piece of artwork i can show you, please enjoy hyrule warriors in the mean time"....

If it was ready to show LAST E3, I have a good feeling that it'd be ready to show a year later at a place where it'd ideal to show it.

The game has been in development for years.

Theres a lot of stuff I'd love for them to do, but I doubt they'd do most of it, it's not even for definite if they'll go to E3, considering the last E3 Direct probably for the the best if it's of the same quantity/quality, they really need more 3rd party on board.

What I'd love them to do show are:

Metroid (Wii U or 3DS or both! Just something!)

Account system for Wii U

Achievement system (Wii U most preferable, 3DS welcome)

More 3rd party games!!! Anything 360/PS3 gets Wii U SHOULD get, it should be aiming at getting stuff on PS4/X1, that should be the hard part, not getting last gen games.

Eventually I'd rather they become 3rd party.

Well, in all honesty, that would sell millions.

Would fit Pokémon and Pikachu being the mascot for the Japanese team this World Cup, too.

You do realise that they have an account system for the Wii U, have shifted it partially into the 3DS, and it will be a standard across their next console and handheld, right?

So are you guys saying "nothing" serious, trolling or doing a "expect nothing and be surprised if they do stuff" kinda thing?

It's not very clear.

Nintendo has used all it's benefit of the doubt credit over the years. Expect nothing and get a little more than nothing.

Why are people expecting the quality of life (lol) thing at E3? E3 is an expo for gamers.

I'm really just expecting a Zelda U reveal and further information on previously announced games.

You shouldn't expect much more when it comes to the Wii U side, honestly.

Nintendo's January 2013 Presentation:

"We will unveil a new 3D Mario, Wii Party, the first screenshots of Smash Bros., and Mario Kart at E3"

Nintendo's E3 2013 Presentation:

00:56 Pokémon X and Pokémon Y
04:13 Super Mario 3D World - Reveal
07:43 Mario Kart 8 - Reveal
10:56 Wii Party U - Delayed
14:52 2013 3rd Party Releases - Trailers
17:40 2013 Wii U Nintendo eShop Releases - Trailers
19:25 The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - Trailer
23:59 The Wonderful 101 - Trailer
25:58 Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze - Reveal
28:54 Bayonetta 2 - Gameplay trailer
31:50 Monolith Soft - Trailer
34:23 Super Smash Bros. - Trailer
38:33 Nintendo E3 Booth Tour

So pretty much, all that Nintendo said was going to be at E3...was actually at E3. The only real surprise (that we didn't anticipate it at all) was Tropical Freeze.

This time around we know we're going to get Zelda talked about at E3...so that's one major unveil. If you throw in the other Wii U first-party releases slated for 2014 (Smash Bros., Bayonetta presumably, Sonic Boom, Hyrule Warriors, maybe Yarn Yoshi / X), that's a good chunk of the conference right there.

This time around I expect a Zelda unveil, a 3DS surprise (Majora's Mask 3DS maybe?) and QoL at the end as the "big" surprise of the conference. I really don't expect any new, major retail Wii U games that we know nothing about to get announced, or any major hardware changes to either platform. QoL is the major "change."

I don't see Nintendo revealing QoL at E3. It doesn't really make sense to since they say it's outside their gaming focus. I'd like to think they've learned a bit.

The Nintendo Vitality Sensor for Wii was announced at an E3. So was the original Wii Fit. So was Wii Sports Resort. Last E3 Nintendo talked about Wii Party U.

E3 is a venue that allows major exposure for Nintendo products...and Nintendo has had a lot of history unveiling extremely casual, fitness-oriented games + devices at E3 in the past...so why wouldn't they use this opportunity when they have consumer interest at an all-time high to introduce their next big venture?

i've no doubt it's ready to show but i doubt that they will, at least in video form.
It will be hyrule warriors for zelda content.
other than that it will be smash, yarn yoshi, sonic boom, x and bayonetta.

Very few. Unfortunately, I think Nintendo is in a hard period for games. Everything we'll see might be something we already know about. Maybe 1 or 2 surprises... but nothing else.

For 3DS, we might have 1 or 2 small announcement, because nearly all their teams were or are busy. If we consider how big 2013 was, you'd think that for 2014, new projects have started, so unlikely to see big release.

For Wii U ? Well, Nintendo will think that Mario Kart + Bayo + SSB + X will be enough.
Then again, maybe 1 surprise big release.

Of course, we might hear about 3 or 4 smaller/eshop projects.

That's a Direct, stuff that has been shown already.

If there is a stage show, they're going to have a Zelda Wii U trailer.

I'm kind of hoping they continue what Black and White started and do sequels

It makes sense since its pretty much the exact same thing they usually do in terms of content with the 3rd game but instead of just making it one game they make two instead for more sales!
