Which was the individual's choice and had nothing to do with that Nintendo did or didn't do.
We knew weeks ahead of time that the Direct was happening, what time and where to watch it. It was promoted on major gaming sites and social media.
If people missed it, it was because they wanted to. A stage presentation wouldn't change that.
Is this why people bitch and moan if a new game isn't shown every 5 minutes? Why on Earth are people moaning about the perception that Nintendo weren't at E3 last year?
E3 is literally all about the perception over the substance. No matter how noble the aims of the E3 Direct were, if the perception was that Nintendo simply weren't bothering it was a bad strategy.
Hell, if people only care about the info, just put it out in a press release and be done with it. E3's about more than that.
And dates and times were on all major video game sites. As well as hands on and videos. Again if people missed it, it was by choice.Wrong. If a stage presentation happened, a lot more people would have seen it. Especially on TV.
This also applies to your assertion that everyone that missed it did so by choice. We knew about it because we read about this shit all the time. There's a lot of gamers that don't go anywhere near message boards or Nintendo's facebook page. But they might stop by Gamespot a few times a week.

Zelda Wii U will be anounced; it will be like an HD version of a Link Between Worlds. Nintendo phoning it in again.

I agree with with most. Nintendo isn't developing anymore games, no surprises coming just a very token E3 appearance consisting of the remaining games they have announced and not released. It was clear from last year that they don't care and Iwata has given every indication of transitioning the entire company over toward their QoL venture.
Honestly I like E3 better when it's about graphical trailers, if I can't play it might as well give me something to look at and compare on NeoGaf. Nintendo just cannot provide.

Nintendo is more and more on the path of irrelevance in the gaming industry - the absence from E3 last year and the lack of short term positive outlook this year proves it.
Wrong. If a stage presentation happened, a lot more people would have seen it. Especially on TV.

And that's exactly why they're moving resources away from gaming.
I wonder if they actually talk about the QOL shit at e3
If so, the conference will be 5 min of Zelda and 55 min of QOL.
Really?..what were the viewing figures for the E3Direct in 2013..vs the press event in 2012.
You seem to have clear knowledge of the worldwide viewing figures ..so please tell us.

What the hell is this? "Absent from E3 2013", "Abandoning gaming for QOL"
The fuck are some of you guys on? They WERE at E3 2013, the only thing that changed is they didn't do a conference (which ISN'T technically part of E3, btw) and they never said they abandon gaming for their QOL strategy.
What the hell, seriously?
Do you think there's a chance for another 3DS revision? Maybe one replacing the regular 3DS? I'm always excited about new hardware, so it would be something interesting to see.
QoL, when it was talked about by Iwata was pitched in such a way to make on think it's non-gaming related. Or at least not focusing on gaming but another type of entertainment. Then there is the comment from Iwata that they will continue to make games. This new direction for the company is them moving resources away from video games. Be it talent or just money and focus.
Yeah, and it's quite a common thing. The confusion, misquoting etc. is why Nintendo came up with Nintendo Directs in the first place, so the gaming media wouldn't twist or ignore things and the consumer would get all the facts delivered directly to them. The idea that Nintendo wasn't at E3 2013 is really frustrating. This was one of the situations where I like to point to where some ask if there really is a bias against Nintendo. Nintendo couldn't have been clearer when they announced the Nintendo Direct. They said there wouldn't be a stage presentation but they would be there on the show floor as they always have been. Gaming media people right away said that Nintendo was skipping E3. Period. This is where the idea came from that they were skipping or not even at E3. It was complete BS at the time and people were confused as to why it was happening. This wasn't a situation of Nintendo not being clear. They were as direct as one could get yet it was still spun into something else that produced confusion everywhere. The confusion did not come from Nintendo in this case but from the gaming media that watched the same announcement we did and purposefully spun it as something else on gaming sites, podcast, etc.
Nonsense. Sony had a decent showing last year that was heralded as a masterpiece because of the presentational flourish of stopping Microsoft's DRM strategy dead in its tracks. Microsoft unveiled more core games, but the perception was that they lost.E3 has nothing to do with perception. You either deliver the goods or you fail.
Because that perception was really only cause by misleading journalists apparently nursing sore ego's since they weren't invited or something.
I do think Nintendo needs to do a real conference though, because it's obvious the press will retaliate if they aren't given that ego stroke.

What's stopping them from just hiring new people or moving the Wii Fit/Brain Age people to this platform? The idea that Nintendo wasn't at E3 2013 is really frustrating. That's what they're doing.
Are you saying that not having an E3 presentation resulted in more people seeing their products?
Sure they are expanding but have we really seen any positive outcome of that? I haven't. Game releases on the WIi U have suffered as they still can not focus on their home console and hand held equally. I.
