Is it true that you can (Earthen Peak boss spoiler/question)
drain the poison from the arena of the poison princess boss (forget her name)?
My friend hinted that it was possible but I've been scouring the area and have yet to find any kind of switch or anything.

Any hints would be appreciated.

Didja read the messages in the ground as you went up?
torch something moving
that's how I inadvertently found out about it.

Yeah, you can drain most of poison in the boss area by lighting that giant windmill with a torch.

So is there any good swords or anything for Dexterity? I typically build a high strength character, but after Dark Souls 1, and having to basically be tied to big, giant weapons for the most part, I decided to change it up this time. I wanted some faster weapons and so far I'm still just using the fire sword you find.

Haha I'm a Strength build and am still using that sword too! Got it to +5 now and it does work. I still have my Guts sword when I want to feel like a badass though.

Walk from the second bonfire straight out into the room with the three enemies. Near the large windmill there is a part you can set on fire that burns the windmill and stops it from supplying the area with poison.

I fought that boss for 2.5 hours yesterday not knowing this was possible. I am extremely stubborn so I figured it was just me not being good enough, but I honestly don't think I could have pulled it off with my current equipment/level no matter how many times I tried.
Drained the poison after getting mad and consulting the guide and I beat her in one try, haha.

yes, you can. it involves fire and a thing that spins

Thanks, guys. I would've never pieced that together.

Yeah poison has been kicking my ass so I know there's zero chance I'd be able to do that fight with my current equipment. I feel for you.

Go to the second bonfire that was behind the fog door, take a torch, walk down where the enemy is from the bonfire, go up the rocks on the right. You can torch the windmill then.

So I'm in the
Shaded Ruins
and like a bonehead, totally killed that
scorpion guy
that apparently helps you in the boss fight. Am I screwed? Was he super powerful? Or, can I just summon some real-life dudes to help me out?

Also, been on a super kick with this game over the weekend. Took down the
Baneful Queen, The Rotten, Flexile Sentry, Skeleton Lords, Covetous Demon and Executioner's Chariot
. A buddy of mine has been griping about how difficult
The Gutter and Black Gulch
were, so much I was literally dreading going down there. But man, wasn't that hard once you realized the
poisoned statues
needed to be destroyed. Any areas you find particularly easy?

Ok, I lit a Primal Bonfire last night at the place with all of the poison-spitting statues with green shit on them. Can't remember the boss' name, but it was the one
that looked like it was made up of a bunch of writhing corpses and had a cleaver-like weapon/ There are fire-pits all over the battle area
.

I think something bad happened, though, and I need confirmation.

I summoned Lucatiel (sp) and, naturally, she got vanquished because all she did was stand right next to the asshole whacking away. Does this mean I can't complete her story arch?

That would bum me out, as I was really fascinated by that character and I can't think of a way to beat that boss without
her being pummeled to death
.

You'll be alright.
You only need to keep her alive for 3/4 boss fights where she's summonable. If it's too late to hit 3, you can also use a Bonfire Ascetic to respawn the boss and summon her for the rematch. On a related note, the Redeye Ring helps a ton for keeping aggro off her.

You can. I've noticed that, with the exception of the main blocks in the game, most people tend to put their sign next to the bonfire, instead of outside a boss, so you may need to take someone all the way there.

Thanks for that!
I'm pretty sure I met that requirement (phew!).

?

You can summon real life people. I'm pretty sure you can revive him if you want.

People who put their messages and die around NPCs and bonfires are dicks. I'm sorry but they are... making me accidentally click on their stupid blood splatters just so I can watch them leap of the cliff when trying to access my inventory and having to read PRAISE THE SUN! for the 50 millionth time when I just want to level up. Annoying as all f#$%.

You can never read enough "praise the sun!".

I purposefully make tricky jumps to hard to reach places just to leave douchy messages.

Beat
VENDRICK
last night. I have only 11 pumped into vit, so I couldnt make any mistakes. Took about 40 min trying different tactics and finally got one down.
hug the shit out if his back ledt leg, and lead him to constantly do broad sweeping swings to keep hom in the center of the room.

Received over 100k souls fpr the fight. Felt good :)

I still keep the mace around ~just in case~, but the halberd really is the new BKGA.

Also playing this tank build is making me worse at the game. Don't need to dodge shit when I have an upgraded Havel's greatshield.

Upgraded to +10 lightning you bet I'm keeping mine around. Plus it helps to have a close-quarters weapon lying around.

I love how EVERY SINGLE chest has a message and blood stains surrounding it. I completely gave up trying to use other people to help me avoid trapped chests.

Got the mist heart in NG+, did Navlaan's quest. just a few quick areas left then the last boss. Then speedrun to drangleic for bountiful sunlight, wrath of gods and chaos fireball in NG++.

Will probably cancel my PC preorder as i'm thoroughly saturated on dark souls 2 now lol.

The (late-game boss)
Looking Glass Knight
seems to more or less ignore the Redeye Ring. Been trying to help people keep ol' Benny alive on that fight but sometimes he just kinda goes "No trophies today, suckers!" and murders the shit outta him while I'm all glowing red and ramming my face into his crotch to draw his attention.

It's unbearably rude, is what it is.

I'm quite liking the Longsword. Is it worth to spend some Large Titanite on it?

That's my go to weapon. Have it at +10 and it's been good to me so far (working on drangleic castle now...) - I've beaten all required areas / bosses with it without summons, and some optional areas too, so it is good.

Also, you'll get plenty of upgrade stones eventually, do not worry about upgrading a weapon that you like.

Is it possible to coop Vesdalt? I barely remember this fight at all (some of the late game is just a blur for me)

Yeah. Probably one of the fights more trivialized in co-op.

Ok things are not going my way I am going to ring my bell and buff OH NOES EVERYONE IS GANGING UP ON ME WHO COULD HAVE FORESEEN THIS #dead

zip line jump cool kids club right here. First try even, felt like a boss.

Haha. Nothing like a dumb luck of the draw landing in a place you shouldn't be to present an opportunity to piss people off.

so i beat V
elstadt earlier. cool fight. after him i went into the next room and got the ring. the undead king was prowling, but didn't aggro. i decided to attack him for one minute but nothing happened? is that normal?

He seems to only actually attack you after you do a certain amount of damage to him.

You're better off just walking out of that room.
The king has 32x normal defense until you get giant souls(the literal item name) in your inventory. It's not wise to take him on yet. Just talk to the emerald herald. For reference, a weapon that I use that normally did 300+ damage did 16 damage on him in this state.

My second highest rated message is "shortcut" in front of a ledge shortly before you reach the
bridge to the final bosses
.

It's a shortcut to death

I left a message in front of the altar of burning bodies that read "Hurrah for Pyromancy!"

I'm obviously incredibly witty.

Honestly, I don't even really notice a difference in quality. The animations simply look different to me, rather than better or worse.

The only really bad animation I've noticed is the Heide Knight or whatever they're called. Those Solaire looking guys. When they swing their sword it's like they're floating around. It's so bad.

For me the difference is abysmal, not only they are wose but they are also fewer; BK ones were amazing and unique and now they are... bad and identical to almost every other weapon of the same type.
