Does anyone know, if there is an option to switch subtitles off?

Dark Souls had an option in the game menu. Strangely Dark Souls 2 doesn't have such an option in the main options menu.

Dark Souls 2 game options menu is:
Camera: Flip y-axis
Camera: Flip x-axis
Camera: Reset y-axis
Camera sensitivity
Vibration
Camera auto-adjust
Cinematic effects
Toggle auto lock-on
Auto-target
Jump controls
Voice chat
Cross-region play
Music volume
Sound effect volume
Voice volume

Where is the subtitle option?

I'm still really f'n bitter about being labeled a sinner for killing a certain traitor NPC. The game pretty much instructs you to kill that NPC...and them I had to pay a fuckton of souls to abolish my sins.

I did this after every boss was dead and all areas explored, but it still pisses me off...

My favourite skeleton-related message was in the Lost Bastille, from the Wharf entrance bonfire towards the direction of the
Heide Knight
, you see wheels laying across the ramparts. First time I ever got there, I saw in front of one of those wheels the message: "Vision of skeletons..." Hahahaha
Very fitting.

I still have not figured out how to leave adjoined messages...PLEASE? anyone? I feel I could do better and be more creative with this knowledge and appear to be inept. Is it only for XBOX or something?

You mean like "... and then ..."? You fill in the first ***, then press X again and you'll get another list with phrases to choose from. Two parts are max though.

The game or another NPC? If you're speaking about who I think you are
Pate
, it's just two guys telling a different story. I wouldn't know who to trust.

so, how many petrified dragon bones you can get?

It's only good for boss weapons, right? Is upgrading
dragonrider bow
a good idea?

I'd really need some help with my Hexer Build. I'm halfway through the game (second playthrough) and having recently obtained the ember for infusion I would like to decide on a good weapon to bring to endgame. Until now I've used a fire longsword and a magic mage.
So my questions are

1) What is the best infusion for an Hexer? I'd probably end up with 30/30 INT/FTH, a bit more maybe. I'm debating between Fire and Dark but every help is appreciated

2) What weapon should I choose? I'm not planning to put a lot of points in STR or DEX, but ideally I'd like a weapon with A/S scaling with fire/dark or whatever is the best way to go with an hexer

for anyone who has used them, how are cross bows in this game? I have only use bows. Are them comparable in damage?

They're pretty much perfectly functional as full-on bow replacements now that they're aim-able just like bows. They take longer to reload between firings (by about half a second by my testing) but you can shoot them one-handed in case you get anxious when you haven't got a shield between you and the enemy. They've got generally shorter ranges (though comparable to the lowest-range bows) but in practice there's not a crippling difference between, say, a 35 range bow and a 45-50 range one. They'll both do the job. Bolts cost more than arrows, but ammo's not really all that onerous of a cost even going the crossbow route.

The main disadvantage crossbows have is that there don't seem to be any poison bolts, whereas poison arrows are both plentiful and awesome. The main advantage crossbows have is that they've got goddamn Avelyn.

Re-asking from an earlier page:

For people doing NG+, do you still adhere to the soft cap of 40 in your skills, or does it become necessary to go past that? Also, is going with a high scaling weapon in your stat of choice still a viable strategy, or do you have to start getting funky?

Shirne of amana fucking sucks so damn much, lost so many souls there. The 3 assholes right before the fog gate fucking destroy me so pissed :(

1. well, hexes are Dark. The two best hex catalysts are Dark. So Dark.

2. hexes are one casting discipline where you don't need melee weapons, if you don't feel like it (point blank dark bead is going to outdamage whatever your puny weapon is, and you can stunlock just about anything with dark orb spam in PVE). Can't go wrong with maces if you want minimal stat investment, though.

Figuring out you could manually aim the bow changed the game from "omfg this is stupid hard" to "I feel like a dick doing this...."

I don't think there's anything nearly as bad in this game as cheesing the False King in Demon's at least. That was just ridiculous.

My guide has finally been shipped out by Amazon this morning and I should get it tomorrow I hope.

I was holding off on NG+ until I was sure I found/farmed everything I could in NG first, so the guide is going to be of help comparing my inventory with their listing <3

Try sniping them. Use a bow and shoot 1-2 arrows, then hide behind something. Those 3 block the next bonfire, its literally in that cave they are standing in front of.

Got my katana character going the other day, speedran to my trusty Chaos Blade at SL50 (fuck you Bonfire buffed L
ost
S
inner
).

It's even better than the DS version. Longer (damn near a Washing Pole at this point), has an actual good R2 and you can parry two handed unlike DS. And of course, it hits like a nuclear missile.

The HP loss per hit is even more manageable due to Lifegems and more ring slots. Good times.

Buy 100 poison arrows, breeze through Amana.

Yeah that place is free to Hunter's Blackbow.

I managed to work my way through the fire lizard area with a
level 70 sorcerer using long distance magic spells. I killed the lizard standing out in the open from the upper level, dropped down from the left of the bridge at the far upper side where the floor rises the most, killed the lizard near the passage leading in the floor from far back using the rising top of the passage as defense from the spitting flames, then carefully made my way through the underground area luring the lizards out and using the curvy wall on the right side as a means of keeping the lizards at a distance. If at risk, run.

This game is really starting to give me Banjo-Tooie vibes; it's just more of everything that made the first one great. Sure, the quality might not always be as refined as the first one but that's not why you're playing the sequel. You just never want the Dark Souls pain train to stop.

(Ending spoilers)

This game really should have ended like this.

the doors to the throne of want open to reveal a man with a curious bearded sculpture as a helmet. He reaches to his side, and hoists a huge two-handed sword over his shoulder as he stands up. Arms outstretched in mockery, he strides across the bridge of golems to the central arena. A massive health bar appears at the bottom of the screen:

ＴＨＥ ＬＥＧＥＮＤ

I lolled.

Got 300k souls from NG+ Lo
st Sinner
coop now, can only spend them on levels because I don't have any of the good merchants yet. I hate the idea of overleveling, stayed mostly below the average throughout NG, but who am I to complain.

Now back in Majula the fucking armorer is acting all high and mighty: "I've got new stock, but I'm afraid it's a bit out of your reach" - bro, I could buy ten of your shitty Alva sets if I wanted

Reposting:

Bunch o' Questions:

1. What are the good Faith spells for a STR/FTH user? All I have so far is Lightning Spear

2. Where can I find better chimes? All I have is the starting one you can find in Majula

3. Boss weapons that are good for STR/FTH?

4. For the Bell Covenant/getting Chunks, is it an easy process to go through? All I really want is a bunch of chunks but I haven't even gone through the area yet to get to the covenant. Is it worth the effort?

5. If I'm using lightning weapons, am I better pumping STR or FTH? Also, any general stat advice on where to go from here:

VIG 15
END 20
VIT 20
ATN 13 (? I think, I know I have two slots)
STR 30
DEX 13
ADP 20
INT 3
FTH 26ish?

Do you use resin on top of that most of the time? Damage output seems low.
Huge lifebar and stamina though.

Drangleic Shield for life.

You can run past them pretty easily. Just make sure not to fall into the water.

Not worth it to fight them each time, nor is it necessary.

How werid is it that there are zero summons in front of
rat authority?

I don't think you can summon for that boss for some reason.

i need a pyro build for the D
arklurker
fight.

i'm level 89.

thanks.

I beat it at lvl ~150 with my great sword build. And it was damn hard! Second half is hard!

One of the best things I figured out is not to use the lock on for most of that fight. And just keep running. Rolling is not fast enough even with a fast roll.

I don't understand how the summoning in doors of pharros works. Out of the blue I get summoned and all the statues around have traps enabled? So someone is randomly summoning me and I don't have control over it? Is it people of the rat covenant doing this? It's like getting summoned into an elaborate trap, pretty hard to come out alive.

Sucks because I nearly killed my full havel wearing summoner (who hid behind trap statues) with soul greatswords. Would've felt so good.

I have the 4 great souls in my NG+ run. Trying to do as much spell collection as possible, but some are going to be a pain. Random
Freja
appearance was pretty weird. Unfortunately, not enough surprises like this in NG+. I like what the idea was here, but I don't think they had the time to flesh it out accordingly. At least they made the effort to change your experience somewhat.
Respec for new game + is great though.

LOL, so in the
Abyss
Covenant, if I die during the
Darklurker
fight I have to repeat the last dungeon? yeah, fuck you FROM, good luck with that.

Is there a shortcut or a bonfire on the ship in No mans wharf? I called the ship in but to get to it from the No Mans Wharf bonfire takes me forever and I end up on the ship with no estus and almost no health.

How werid is it that there are zero summons in front of
rat authority?

I never saw that boss in my first run.

Now I got to it in NG+ and it is invencible.

If it was obligatory I'd quit the game. The boss can two hit me like ultra easy no matter what.
