LOL, so in the
Abyss
Covenant, if I die during the
Darklurker
fight I have to repeat the last dungeon? yeah, fuck you FROM, good luck with that.

Yep... I have saved a bunch of effigies in NG+ for that reason alone. iirc the woods entrance has the easiest phantom set. You can pick which level you replay, to be clear.
After you light the 3 torches, any exit sends you to darklurker.

I wouldn't pick the one that has
havel
:p

so, how many petrified dragon bones you can get?

It's only good for boss weapons, right? Is upgrading
dragonrider bow
a good idea?

Dragon Rider Bow is the only boss weapon I upgraded (and to full at that). It was the best bow I found in my play through the game as an STR/DEX-focused build.

Broadsword +10
Drangleic Shield +1
Drangleic Mail +5
Drangleic Gauntlets +2
Drangleic Leggings +1
Ring of Blades (swapped to Dark Quartz Ring +2 for final boss)
Ring of Steel Protection +1
Cloranthy Ring +1
Life Ring +1

I don't understand why people are playing with no attunement slots at all. The 10 more points in ADP give you 4 Agility. Instead you could pick up 2 pyromancy spells.

Using the
castle entrance
takes 3 minutes top to get to the boss. Come on.

I don't understand how the summoning in doors of pharros works. Out of the blue I get summoned and all the statues around have traps enabled? So someone is randomly summoning me and I don't have control over it? Is it people of the rat covenant doing this? It's like getting summoned into an elaborate trap, pretty hard to come out alive.

Sucks because I nearly killed my full havel wearing summoner (who hid behind trap statues) with soul greatswords. Would've felt so good.

I have the 4 great souls in my NG+ run. Trying to do as much spell collection as possible, but some are going to be a pain. Random
Freja
appearance was pretty weird. Unfortunately, not enough surprises like this in NG+. I like what the idea was here, but I don't think they had the time to flesh it out accordingly. At least they made the effort to change your experience somewhat.
Respec for new game + is great though.

You're getting summoned into their world and those guys have the Pharros locks open, which contain traps. I assume they're summoning you themselves, but I don't know exactly how the covenant works, other than there are traps for you and enemies will aggro you and never them.

Also, curious, what changes have you found in NG+? Using an Ascetic I noticed some
red phantoms
in Heide's Tower, and I know in Drangleic Castle, you can
fight two Pursuers
. But what else? Where did you encounter
Freja
too?

Is there a shortcut or a bonfire on the ship in No mans wharf? I called the ship in but to get to it from the No Mans Wharf bonfire takes me forever and I end up on the ship with no estus and almost no health.

There's the one shortcut you can open in the area but no fast shortcuts to the actual ship.

I am getting ready to head back there. It's really bugging me that those Gargoyles are in the way of me getting the Bastille key.

Hai guys, I got my first Fragrant Branch of Yore,
who should I use it on first? The girl next to Majula, or the person in the Bastille?

Thanks

Does sin carry over to NG+? Is there any counter-indication against murdering all the NPCs for their loot before moving on to NG+? I think I'm ready now.

Sage to say that Drangleic Shield is the Drake Sword of this game.

Not for very long. You can buy a better shield not even halfway through the game.

Yes it carries over and you can get rid of it by paying souls just like in DS1.

Depends. If you are stuck and are looking for another way to progress use it on the girl in Majula. If you know where to head next you can use it on the person in Bastille and get
boss weapons
.

Yeah, that and wasting Effigies is a pain

Havel
is a dick. I dont even feel motivated to try it. I think Ill just move on to NG+

Do you use resin on top of that most of the time? Damage output seems low.
Huge lifebar and stamina though.

Drangleic Shield for life.

Only when I feel it's necessary. Didn't buy any resin throughout the game, and it rarely if ever seemed to drop. I did use various resins but not often. With the exception of bosses and enemies with crazy physical defence I never felt my damage output was an issue, but mostly because the broadsword swings fast. Easy to get into a handful of shots during windows, and that adds up. Resin did help, but the output as is never seemed to be a burden. Looking at other final stats posted here similar one handed weapon builds are around the ~329 damage mark.

The entire Drangleic set seemed basically perfect for my build. I only used it and the Falconer set for the whole game, moving from the latter to the former once I knew it wouldn't weigh me down.

*shrug* I rolled axe melee pyro in Dark Souls. Decided to go pure sword + shield here. ADP scales alongside END. By the end I was just sticking points wherever, so most probably went in ADP. I'm not going to take this character into NG+ as I'm waiting for the PC build.

I did Straid first, as he has some nice boss soul trades. But the girl (Rosabeth) blocking the gate is going to be mandatory in order for you to get to the Shaded Woods. You will find enough Fragrant Branches of Yore so that you can do both, plus a few others.

What build are you playing? He has a very low poise rating. You can easily stun lock him with a good 2 hander. Emptying your stamina bar twice on him should be enough.

Magic should easily kill him from range.

And if everything fails you can push him off the ledges.

There's the one shortcut you can open in the area but no fast shortcuts to the actual ship.

I'm going to list everything from memory here, NG+ changes in the world I've noted:

- New Falcon enemies right off the bat in the first seconds
- Black phantoms in a lot of places. Most annoying in Heide's, and 2 get added in the Sinner bossfight.
- 2 big scythe giants near the lights for the lost sinner fight
- A firekeeper Anastacia phantom in the grave of saints that gives you the dingy set +5. Biggest surprise so far. Another addtion to the DkS phantom list (already included Havel and Ricard, Oscar too I think)
- The flexile sentry in the wharf has a new enemy type guarding him.
- Freja showed up right when I entered the brightstone cove proper (in the area with torch wielders) I ran away and she disappears eventually. I wonder if you can beat her there, because she gets a lifebar...
- giant boars in brightstone encapment! These behave exactly like the armored boars in DkS.

I managed to work my way through the fire lizard area with a
level 70 sorcerer using long distance magic spells. I killed the lizard standing out in the open from the upper level, dropped down from the left of the bridge at the far upper side where the floor rises the most, killed the lizard near the passage leading in the floor from far back using the rising top of the passage as defense from the spitting flames, then carefully made my way through the underground area luring the lizards out and using the curvy wall on the right side as a means of keeping the lizards at a distance. If at risk, run.

I was pretty disappointed there literally was no good treasure in that area considering how dangerous it is. Just some souls and red eye orbs.

What is the first shield you can get that blocks 100% damage?

i got the one from the enemies in heide tower but the stat requirements are too high for now. I think its 20-something strength

Drangleic Shield
You'll find you'll prob be using it.for quite a while.

Buy 100 poison arrows, breeze through Amana.

Noob question: Is there a vendor somewhere that has unlimited poison arrows?

They are insanely handy, but I cannot find anyone to sell me more. I found that Gavlan (sp?) sells some but only in limited quantities, something like 20 from memory.

Make sure you exhaust Gavlan's dialogue in No Man's Wharf. Then he will move to Harvest Valley, where you should do the same. From there you will find him in Doors of Pharros, where he will stay and will have an unlimited supply.

I used that the WHOLE game and still used it. Stone sheild is OP for high str users.

Higher stability than dragleics. I think it has the highest stability and best overall stats of any sheild you can still parry with.

Only issue is low durability. But my shield has only broken like twice in some 80hours. And only in drawn out pvp fights. Usually it is not an issue. And I have battled hundreds of pvp at this point.

100% shields suck anyway Throne Watcher's shield for life~

Finally beat it. While easy, the final boss is a real pain for
melee users.
I invested
zero points into magic,
so it was a bit of a struggle for me.

Well I got the hang out of him by 2-handing my claymore, but as a meele with 0 magic user, the boss brutally rapes me lol

Has anyone else been having problems summoning/being summoned on ps3 since the 1.02 patch? Every time I try to place a summon sign I 100% get the error "failed to create summon sign", and I don't see summon signs anywhere whether I'm alive or dead. I tried looking around and there's not much I can find about it.

It happens in every area of the world I can get to and is supper frustrating. I'm probably around 50%ish complete if that makes any difference.

All other games and services work fine on my ps3.

It's a little annoying that there are so few weapons for Sorcerers that are easily obtainable through playing, and especially annoying that almost all boss soul weapons are for melee users.

I did him as a meele only user aswell. Given - I had flame weapon to buff my halberd

Basically two things: Go all out on him. His laser shouldn't damage you. You roll/stay behind his sword attack. If you feel that you have to switch for a shield against his fire/dark magic attack do so. You should have him below 50% once he splits - and that's the most important part of the fight. For a few seconds you can hit him and the clone at the same time. I've got him down to ~30% and then insta killed him.

You know what would have made the A
ncient Dragon
fight better? Having to cut its tail for a weapon.

Having a smaller model for him would have made the fight better. I don't have anything against his one shot mechanic if his model wouldn't be so fucking massive.
If you get unlucky and he moves to the far edge it simply comes down to luck. You can't tell if he flies to the left or right.

Where is everyone getting their dark steel katanas. I killed a ton of the guys that drop them until they disappeared now I'm concerned I cannot get one.

Bad luck. Respawn them and put on the item find items. Honestly that shouldn't be necessary tho. The drop rate really isn't that low. You sure you got the right mobs?

I killed enough guys leading up to the first boss in the iron keep that they are all done respawning. I'm guessing there are more later in the level and I do have the merchant hat that ups drop percentage.

Make one. I switch between enchanted and magic long swords, I got so used to the fire long sword and didn't want to put any more points into STR/DEX, so I just stuck with the long sword. Was tempted by the magic mace you find around though.

y'all in the
bell keeper
convanent need to step up your game

Vengarl and his army of a million dogs were more challenging

Te gankers have arrived in belfry luna! I was totally right...there was only a small window of time when chunks would rain down...gotta earn them now boys. I am devising some new strategies to get around the ganking as we speak! Tougheer than I thought, they know the spawn points now and you get blasted right out of the gate. Good thing there is small reward or would be a lot more common.

Damn, pretty much my exact character from my first playthrough! The broadsword was a beast, it's only now, halfway through my NG+, that I've decided to retire it for a bastard sword.

total shot in the dark here but you guys seem like cool people so I'm hoping you'll be able to help me out.

ever since the patch last week I haven't been able to connect to the game servers and have been stuck playing in offline mode. not a huge deal as I typically enjoy solo-ing boss fights - however I think I've hit a roadblock with the ruin sentinels.

it's really strange, the ps3 is online, I'm able to connect to the playstation store just fine but the game for whatever reason simply will not connect. I did the network test and I'm on nat type 2 and everything else says that it's connected. so what gives???

How does upping Endurance & Adaptability past 20 affect you?
Any noticeable improvements?

Endurance and ADP from 20-30 get you:

30 hp, 10 stamina, 12.5 physical defence, 7.5 agility, 3 poise(not exactly sure) and some very minor resistance.

Like I've said before I don't think that this is remotely worth it. You are better of putting those points into VIT/ATN in my opinion.

adpt is still a mystery. it has its uses, but the breakpoints aren't known yet
Like most people you are mixxing up ADP and Agility. The "breakpoints" of ADP are exactly known.

edit: For the record my stats when I fnished ng last week:

Blue Knight/Mastodon Halberd, a bow,
Havel's
Shield, Flame Weapon, Flame Swathe.

endurance is definitely really helpful depending on your weapon. with 3rd ring of the dragon even more. at 25 end you have 140 stamina with the ring.

adpt is still a mystery. it has its uses, but the breakpoints aren't known yet. Agility caps at 110 (around 38-39 adpt) but the difference between 100 agility and 110 may me almost unnoticeable If you get an addition i-frame for rolls during those 10 points, it's worth it. otherwise, I dunno.
