Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Lost well over a mill on a low lvl in DS1, didn't care because I had no need for them.

Losing the 99 humanity though...

With no humanity stacking in DS2, no big cares given for losing souls. It's more the BS deaths that are the problem.

Anyone? I'm doing 83 damage per Soul Arrow on the iron knights at Heide's right now and it is taking so many uses, could really use some help since I never paid much attention to magic during my first playthrough.

That was an interesting write up! My second character started off as a sorc, I was initially going for a sorc-hex-pyro multicaster but I just respec-ed to a pure sorc. Dark orb is a really good spell though, but I decided if I wanted the final sorcery spells I couldn't invest in FA. Maybe I'll play a hex caster next.
I had a Sorcerer's staff + 10 very early on. This build has no weapons other than the starting dagger (which does insane backstab/riposte damage even without upgrades.) I took 7 STR for the leather shield though.
Stage sequence:
Forest of Giants (has a titanite slab)
Heide's Tower (for the ring that gives you more health when hollow, just kill the knights that you can't evade and need to kill for the switch up to the Old Dragonslayer)
No-man's Wharf (for Carillon)
Lost Bastille (farm Bell invasions for titanite chunks)

Finally beat the game. No matter how hard I try, though, I can't kill the
Ancient Dragon
or
Vendrick.
Seriously, I spent an hour on AD. All enemies are no longer respawning so it's a straight shot to the door and I just die. I've gotten his health a little over halfway down, but that fire...

I only got 450k on me right now in DS2.
You can farm quite easily on infinitely respawning enemies in the U
ndead
C
rypt
. Only 3000 souls per run, I can do an average of 5 runs before I need to go back to the bonfire.
Not the quickest way to grind but at least the enemies don't stop coming after 15 kills.

Ok so I need some advice.

I've defeated two of Lucatiel's bosses with her alive still now, Sinner and miraculously I did Smelter with her living with like 1hp left lol. :D I knew I could do it!

Anyway, I need to use an ascetic now to do one more boss cause I already killed the others. :(

Which would you guys recommend is the easiest in NG+ difficulty, keeping in mind ease of keeping her alive during it too.

Yea, losing 99 humanity in DkS1 is FAR more biting than millions of soul currency. Souls really are meaningless after a certain point in all three games.

DkS1 at least had easy grinding for humanity in the final DLC area.

Probably
The Rotten

End of game spoiler and question:
Credits listed a voice actress for "Shanalotte(child), as well as Shanalotte. Did I miss or forget something? Don't remember a part with her as a child.

Yea....I always rock that ring of protection (got 2 of them actually) nowadays. Mainly for humanity

Same. One breaks, switch to the other...that breaks, go back and repair both for pretty petty soul change.

They're kinda way too good, but I cannot bring myself to not use them.

I did Sinner and Smelter and she didn't appear at Gulch. Her quest line is buggy as hell. I've had a few times where I entered the boss gate and the message showed that "phantom has left".

will activated lockstones and lit torches carry over in ng+?

btw, i hate how sometimes you can't lit torches. especially when some of them were already lit by from.

Man are all pvpers basically super overpowered? 1H dex swords suck ass, it's just not fair. We have no reach, low damage. Every str guy wielding a giant sword is easily able to wreck my shit.

Gaf, what's the prescribed PvP level, out of curiosity?

I've stopped levelling at SL145 on my first play-through, mainly because the last few bosses have made me feel a tad overpowered; especially as a pure STR cat with enough VIT to wear a house. I did just lose 150k souls in the
Memory of Jeigh
(curse that place) due to a combination of some serious hoarding, cockiness and completely forgetting about my Ring of Life Protection, but eh, 'chu gonna do? #DarkSouls

Yea because it's probably their 2nd character after already steamrolling through the story so they now know what to max/min.

But, I like to pvp...that's the whole reason I play Dark Souls. Fighting the AI is boring, humans are unpredictable.

Adapt to it. The problem with the greatsword is they have to hit there target within the first 2 swings or they get caught. It's more about waiting for them to blink first

Really if they miss their fist swing you could go to town on them.

I do fine in pvp falchion 2h, but it annoys me that the axe inherited the 2h swing motion of the DS 1 flachion. Just gotta press their shields until they're staggered and dodge the heavy swings..

I am just about sick and tired of these goddamn spear and shield knight enemies. I literally attacked one while he had his back to me and was in the middle of his attack animation: my attack still somehow bounced off his shield and stunned me enough so he could do a full 180 degree turn and stab me and kill me.

Also what's the point of being able to aim your arrows and hit non-shielded body-parts if the shield is still going to absorb the damage?

Ugh, I swear the regular enemy mobs piss me off in this game more than any of the bosses.

Just keep spinning until you can back stab.

I do with guard breaks would work on them though.

Help on what to do, late game spoilers

Butting my head against Ancient Dragon, everyone says hes optional but I don't see a way to continue with the game. Killed the Throne Watcher/Guardian so where do I go now?

There are other King's doors. Go find them.

That's what I tried but I must not have been in the right place because my backstab just plinked off his "shield." These guys and the hammer dudes earlier in the game have been the only enemies that their attack movesets just piss me off. The hammer guys recover entirely too quick for carrying a "heavy" weapon and these guys manage to pull their shield up almost instantaneously after their attacks.

On another note, what's the scale for breaking poise? I'm using Dex over Strength so I'm assuming I'm on the low end of poise-breaking, even with the ring that adds to it.

Just circle around until they attack and than backstab when directly behind them.

As for poise, it's currently completely broken and pointless.

Even with 140+ poise I was getting stun locked by small sword R1s...

For mobs though, they usually need larger weapons. I'm pretty sure the "poise" damage is stated on the weapons stat sheet. Left side, 3rd from bottom.

I think poise is now supposed to prevent you from getting staggered once your attack animation starts up, not prevent a stunlock.
