NG++ Looking Glass Knight is seriously driving me insane. I'm using redeye ring just dodging like a pro, practically leaving LGK open for another phantom to attack yet they all end up getting killed. Dudes just suck. Even fucking Benhart lasts more now.

Ughhhhh.

Well, after beating the game with beating every boss, I have to say the two hardest bosses in the game are:
The Ancient Dragon
and
The Darklurker
. The first one is easy to see but no matter what you do if you fuck up once he will one shot you. The other is just annoying because of the
Magic/Sorcery
he uses on you, and also he
Splits into two bosses when he hits halfway point in his health
.

Still, I love this game and its fucking amazing!

Haven't beaten either of these bosses yet. Never even found the second on my first playthrough but now I know what to do. I'm scared to fight these bosses as a caster with 10VGR :(

The DL is piss easy as a caster/miracle dude/pyromancer, I killed him with 5 flame swathes (which is super OP by the way).

Man, guess I should've checked the stats for the Allone armor. I have the full set and they look cool. The helmet is neat.

I only use the Armor and the leggings at +10 With a mad warrior mask and lost sinners shackle. Makes your dude looks skinny as hell thats the only downside.
My bloke dont look like he should be able to lift a drakekeepers shield but he rolls with it like a ninja.

Yep. I did 5 or 6 shots with my Sunlight Spear before he went away. He did do one final shot at me that left me so close to being dead. Got lucky there. lol

So is there some item that blows up when you die? I got invaded by a red for the second time in the game and was able to kill him at a distance. Then he sorta blew up and then I suddenly died for some reason. The fuck?

Yeah I looked up what treasures they were and just don't care to go through it all to get them. It's nothing I need and just too much of a hassle.

What are the treasures for running around in the lava? I always figured there'd be a lava ring like in Dark Souls 1, but alas.

Old Sun Ring - blows up at a low health threshold, not necessarily at death. Awful item. I've never had it used against me, though.

Welp, the last boss is in the can, I cleaned up some stuff around the game world, bought up lots of limited-stock items to take with me, and launched into NG+1.

Overall feeling at this point: I like parts of it more than DS1, but like a number of the DS1 bosses better. DS2 crafting and stat system are better for me though. The variety of armors in DS2 are better.

I think I'll spend a lot more time playing around with various PVP covenants in NG+ and see how that goes as an end-game.

It is actually a very good PvP ring. With poise being worthless no one is really running any and the explosion will damage someone enough to stop them from comboing you out with R1 attacks because it breaks the attacker's poise and stops the combo.

Oh I'm aware that it's very good for PVP - it just feels kind of cheap to me. If the game had fewer ring slots it wouldn't be so big an issue, but exchanging 1 out of 4 ring slots for a cheap shot on your enemy doesn't seem like so great a sacrifice. Nothing that can't be negated by killing those people at range I guess.

finally beat this game.

i beat the last boss naked :lol

Also prob good against damn campers that stand over you while you spawn too I bet.

With the rings that say they can break in their descriptions, do they break permanently or can they be repaired?

can be repaired at any blacksmith.

Flash Sweat
Orange Burr
Alonne Knight Armor
Flame Quartz Ring
Crush a lifegem first, and chug estus before long pickup animations
Roll around in water first (barrels, or the phaross lockstone)

That last one seems important.. flash sweat doesn't do much.

I crushed a Lifegem but never thought to chug an Estus. I'll try that. Lifegems didn't seem to do shit though.

I like how your character has to take his sweet ass time opening a door or chest. At least for some doors, you can roll and they'll be wide open.

Even if you melee them, there is an animation before the explosion happens so it is easy to dodge.

I think it's great because it forces your opponent to change up their game slightly.

If I see that orb pop up, I know I can't commit to a long combo anymore and I need to save extra stamina to roll out of the way. Normally, I'd expend everything (not safe, I know) and my opponent will more often than not opt to escape a follow up rather than counter.

Would you people agree that the Cleric is DS2's Pyromancer/Royal, i.e. the most beginner-friendly class? My friend is about to play DS2 as his first Souls game, and I've been wondering what class to recommend. I'm inclined to say Cleric because:

-Starts with acces to the Heal miracle, which is really useful early game when healing resources are scarce.
-Starts with the Mace, arguably one of the best STR weapons in the game.
-The Heide Knight Sword can be found early on, which scales with FTH (lightning). Same for the fire Longsword to a lesser extent.
-The Lightning Spear miracle can be bought early on, which in my experience does much more damage than the Sorceries/Hexes/Pyromancies you're going to find for a while.
-Some tough enemies are specifically weak to lightning, including the infamous R
uin
S
entinels
.

The patron saint of quality characters, the Bandit, ironically ends up being a more efficient STR/FTH class, as it wastes less points in INT (you still need 3 to talk to S
traid
, but those
could be removed with a Soul Vessel
if you want to be really efficient) and ADP (people still haven't decided if it's amazing or shit, but at least you get a decent agility stat via ATT), but picking the Bandit would probably mean a rougher start for my friend.

As a pyromancer, I haven't been able to find much discussion on here about the P
enal
H
andcuffs
. By how much do they increase your pyro damage?

In NG+, do your soul rewards go up to scale with your level? Ie: if I fight the first boss again will I get more than a couple thousand souls or will it be the same as my first run through?

This is my first soul game and I never play the previous one but I really love the game
The question is I cant find a new way :| I just killed the Last Giant Boss and now I dont know where should I go?
I am level 25 so please give me easy place to discover lol

Check out the church in Majula. It is not a dead end.

What are people's overall impressions of this game? I felt like the bosses were a bit of a step down in terms of art and design of the encounters. So many of the bosses, if you just circle strafe around them, you can easily beat them. I also didn't like how many of the bosses were human or humanoid this time around. Nothing felt quite as epic a fight as, say, Gaping Dragon, Ornstein / Smough, Sif (so epic!!), Kalameet, Artorias, or 4 Kings (despite the mechanics of this encounter).

I also really miss the tail-cutting mechanics of the first game, and even if they couldn't make that work with less dragons, why not put something else in the game to compensate...something that makes fighting bosses a further challenge while also giving you something extra for the effort.

I think environment design is better in DaS2 vs DaS1. Bastille, Heide's Tower, Dragon Shrine / Aerie, and Drangleic Castle all have their own unique atmosphere to them and some really cool vistas.

Overall, I think i come out liking this game just as much as DaS1, though I wish some of the boss fights had been a bit more epic / interesting than they were.

There's another boss in the forest, you should of gotton a key from the giant that can now unlock some doors in the area.

I swear FROM made Lucatiel useless on purpose to add another layer of challenge. Trying to keep her alive makes me unbelievably reckless.

It's very trollish. Her dumb AI doesn't help. Even ENB who worked on the guide said it's extremely hard to get her to survive through the boss fights if you don't prepare for it.

Wonder if going Faith build to mass heal would keep her alive easier.

I've just tried Cleric and Sorcerer, and Cleric is far easier. Much better starter weapon, reliable healing at the beginning, and has the attributes to use most lighter shields from the start.

Having Lightning Spear available earlier is really nice, but you do need to invest quite a few points to be able to use it. Even if you rush it, you have to do some co-op to have the souls to level + purchase it for the first boss of Forest.

Man I was really excited when I just killed
The Duke's Dear Freja
on my first try. It was a long fucking level and I feel like I missed a bonfire somewhere so it was just fucking awesome until
a baby spider killed me at the same time.

Fuuuuck. And I need to go to bed :(

Just beat the game, loved it. Although the final boss was kind of disappointing because great lighting spear destroyed it. I assume you could
choose to leave the room or enter the throne room after the fight? I just walked towards the throne room thinking it was going to be a new area/another boss lol.

Yea, I'm in NG+ and I just can't nuke them down faster than she wants to just sit there and take massive damage. I've only beaten one boss with her tagging along so far. I'm stuck at the others atm. If I could somehow keep them aggroed on me, that would be nice.

and then that Jester is ridiculously helpful :p
God that Jester is amazing!

I have the key but I cant find the door (Shame) :]
where is the door?

From the 2nd bonfire, go down the ladder. Head out to the balcony where that huge sword structure was (you know the guy that stands at the top of it with not much room and easy to fall off of). When you are outside, turn right. Near the end of the room, you will see a door next to a staircase that goes nowhere. there you go. :)

Nearing the end of the game.

I really really think they went lazy with the level design in this game. I mean, in DaS, it felt like everything was connected.

And fuck fast travel, good level design is so much better. Too bad that when people implement fast-travel options it's too convenient not to use.

My god Dargon's Aerie is beautiful.

You can, to an extent. Buy the Redeye Ring from the cat in Majula.

Also summon someone in the Sun covenant so they can spam their lightning spear.

I'm gonna probably just make a new character for her trophy. NG+ sounds much tougher to deal with with her.

I wouldn't necessarily agree. Cleric is a great starting class - it's what I chose for my str/faith build - but it's not as immediately accessible as pyromancer or royal. A complete beginner to the series might be turned off by the fact that the cleric can only wield his starting weapon 2-handed until he levels up in Majula. On top of that life gems are so plentiful in the early game that Heal's presence never made a huge impression on me.

As far as starting classes go I think the bandit probably comes out of the box the most well-prepared for ass kicking (with a bow and a weapon they can actually one-hand). For me it's a toss up between bandit and sorcerer for best class for beginners.
