Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

I'm gonna probably just make a new character for her trophy. NG+ sounds much tougher to deal with with her.

I'm in the same boat. I didn't even bother with NPC summons the first time around. I think my second build will be a lot more suited for tanking boss battles anyway. I think I'm gonna go for a dark paladin type. Heavy strength based with miracles and hexes as support.

Question for people in NG+:
Is Ornstein's armor in the game in any fashion? It was my favorite set in Dark Souls and I was wondering if there was a version in this game.

Yea, I'm more of a balanced STR build but I'm gonna go fullbore tank with 2nd character. TANK DAT SHIT

Man I was really excited when I just killed
The Duke's Dear Freja
on my first try. It was a long fucking level and I feel like I missed a bonfire somewhere so it was just fucking awesome until
a baby spider killed me at the same time.

Fuuuuck. And I need to go to bed :(

I'm fighting this right now. There's a somewhat closer bonfire on the ground floor of the sand whirlpool area. But every time you die you have to run through the spider infested webs again. Such a goddam pain.

I swear FROM made Lucatiel useless on purpose to add another layer of challenge. Trying to keep her alive makes me unbelievably reckless.
I had the same issue before, but yesterday someone here tipped me about using the Redeye Ring. Then the boss will pretty much only go after you. It makes it a lot easier for the NPC to stay alive, especially if you have summoned another player as well. One of the boss,
The Lost Sinner on NG+ and above, can still be hard though even when using Redeye Ring because of those spawning pyromancers.

Don't you need a key that you can only get from beating
Freja
to access that bonfire, or am I mistaken?

Invader comes in, stands by 3 enemies, doesn't move. Waits until I have to pass him, then just runs and lets the three enemies kill me.

Skill.

Nope, you don't need the key. Greatsword takes care of the room full of spiders easily, and then I just ran through the webs into the fog door, no need to fight all of them.

Goes both ways.

Invade someone.... they hide for 5 minutes... next thing I know there's 3 people bashing my head in.

I came in through the ceiling from a different location with the spellcaster enemies. It was at the bottom of the ladder. Then to get back to Freja you have to roll through a hole in the wall.

It's a bit confusing to put into words, haha, but I was literally doing it for 2 hours last night. Freja has been kicking my ass.

If you're going for the platinum trophy, i think it would be much more time saving to do it in NG+ than to create a new character. You need to beat the game
at least two times if you want the platinum trophy, since there is a spell that cant be bought before NG++. Well, it is possible to get this spell if you win 500 duels while being in the Blood covenant, but that would take a long time.

Speaking of Lucatiel when you meet her for the last time,
i just noticed now that she doesnt wear her mask at this place.

I just wait if that happens. He's the one invading so I make them work for it.

Oh right. Another Gaffer mentioned that too. Looks like I need to do NG+ then.

Man I got invaded by two bell tower jockeys last night in the iron keep. They chase me up a ladder and I managed to knock one down and kill him in one shot. They other survived our melee with a sliver of health. I was so drunk and so mad but so happy that I got that one guy. SCREW YOU one guy.

Yep. I make them come to me. Usually in an area where they are at a disadvantage. Like in the Gutter, invader came in while I was kinda isloated in the upper level of the area that required him to use the ladder. I halfed his health while from above. And killed him off when he got up the ladder. Never stood a chance.

Can anyone one of you gentlemen's take a screenshot/camera pic of decent quality of the
real Moonlight Greatsword (not the Bluemoon Greatsword)
for me?

Also, I'm currently at the
Shrine of Amana/Demon of Song.
Lost my first attempt, but I'm sure I'll prevail on attempt two.

EDIT - And if you can get the requested weapon's description aswell!

It's very trollish. Her dumb AI doesn't help. Even ENB who worked on the guide said it's extremely hard to get her to survive through the boss fights if you don't prepare for it.

Most of my Lucatiel fights went as follows.

1.Summon Lucatiel plus a human
2.She dies because she sits right on top of the boss and takes most of their hits.
3.Feel like a dick for using the separation crystal to send the player home
4.Quit or use Homeward Bone
5.Repeat.

The ring that caues enemies to focus on you helped with the Sinner's Rise boss at least.

Does anyone else think that [late game spoilers]
the Soldier's Rest bonfire will be the launching area for DLC? That's the only reason that really makes sense to me, given that there's a bonfire there and the only Ancient you can't access (yet).

Ah yes, the Homeward Bone method is a good way to save her. I'll need to remember that when i retry.

Quitting is actually better - with the exception of one
The Rotten
it seemed pretty much impossible to get through the Homeward Bone animation before taking a hit.

Its not really that much harder on NG+ in my opinion, especially if you find a good player to summon for the bosses.

Do Majula vendors restock their wares? I need more arrows...
Not in Majula, but other NPCs will have unlimited arrows. Those are
Gavlan, Ornifex, Chancellor Wellager and McDuff.
There might be some others too, but those are the ones that i can remember right now.

Does anyone else hate the first-person archery or is it just me? I hate seeing an arrow fly out of a reticle. So immersion-breaking.

I wish it was still the old over-the-shoulder view.

I thought we had the same thing in every Souls games. Or is my memory shot?

I look at my playtime on my character screen and think "aye but half of that is sitting waiting for a summon sign to appear and then waiting for another because that one failed."

Summoning in Demon's Souls was garbage.
Summoning in Dark Souls was garbage.
Sumoning in Dark Souls 2? Garbage.

No, I think its always been the reticule. Want immersion breaking? Try your arrows getting stuck in mid air because you shot a foot too close to a railing or wall. That shit always pisses me off.

I'm at about 30 STR and 29 FTH, which is better to pump for Lightning infused weapons? I'm guessing I should pump FTH either way because there are better spells to get that need better FTH?

Sidenote, should I level up the Cleric Chime, Priest Chime, or wait for something else?

Also, is the Bell Covenant all that difficult/complex to do in order to just farm Chunks? I could really use some to upgrade my stuff, and I barely have any...

How am I supposed to
light torches on the 3 dark places before reaching the Darklurker where some strong enemies are? I admit I never used a single torch on the game but if I light it on the bonfire before entering the dark, I don't have it anymore once inside... help?

Summoning in Dark Souls 2 was a little less garbage than Dark Souls, which was super garbage. Sometimes that Name ring thing actually works, which is pretty damn shocking.

Nope, just wear the ring and stay somewhere outside of the bell areas and you'll get summoned to a players game and kill them.

I've been defeated... Not since my first run through Demons' Souls have I had to summon help just to get through a boss fight. I'm not sure if its just how I built my character or if I missed an obvious aspect of the fight, but after three straight hours of death I finally gave up and summoned an npc phantom and another player to help me bring down the Ruin Sentinels... Fine work Dark Souls II, you have successfully brought me back down to the level of preparedness I was at back in the old days......... just as I would have hoped :)

try the flame butterfly thing?

that is from, telling you to get gud and beat that boss alone.

The old angle might have been more immersive, but using a bow or crossbow feels way less clunky than before.

Agreed on Dark Souls for sure. It could just be my luck, which is normally quite shit, but I have had zero issues with summoning in this game though. Either randoms grabs, people summoning me for help, or specifically with friends using the Name-Engraved Ring. We were just talking about how great it is to be able to jump in and out easily. We have our solo characters and then characters that we have been keeping in Soul Memory Range and duoing everything. It is a blast, painless, and working far better than any Souls game has before.

I really wonder why some people, like yourself, are still having issues. Outside of having to run "10 feet away" in game and back to refresh summon signs, I really am surprised how few issues I/we have had.

I get summoned only a few seconds after putting my sign down. I think it's mint.
