opend some doors now.
behind the one in the forrest of giants was nothing I could do.

now I am in Aldia's Keep.
Exactly where I am. I didn't understand the one in the forest, feels like I'm missing something. Maybe the
giant
, I still haven't activated one of those.

I got one shot by the
bone dragon
in Aldia's Keep, went back and it's not there. Oops? Maybe it's meant to happen?

Is Dark Souls 1 worth my time now that DS2 is out? I own DS1 (360) but have yet to even try it out. Not sure what to do, but it would be nice not having to spend hard earned cash on DS2 just yet.

I have souls from
Iron King, Lost Sinner, and Rotten
Where should I be heading next for the fourth? If it involves me defeating
Royal Rat Authority
then that will suck. Hoping that one's optional.

People though the same about Dark Souls 1, but when the PC version appeared, people hacked into the files & were able to view all the levels & they were indeed all connected.
Can't find that video, but it was something like this

I wouldn't doubt Dark Souls 2 is the same, after all, there is no load times whatsoever if you were to walk to all the areas.

this thing showed up before the PC version was even out yet:

So i'm reading through the guide book and who though doing all that shit to get the pickaxe was funny? how can anyone in their right mind think putting something at
1/1000 chance to get an item assuming the pig doesn't die
is a good idea?
Can you elaborate a bit more on this? Which
pig doesnt have to die?

Definitelly, in my opinion. Dark Souls 1 is also an excellent game.

the

became alive, I walked up the stairs and it was gone.

do you have to beat that boss to exit the area?
but yeah, you have to beat that area an move on to the last primal bonfire.

DS2 isn't Madden 2014. It doesn't replace the previous title. Get it, and play it. I wouldn't even recommend playing 2, until you have played 1.

Good thing they didn't go the Phantasy Star Online route. The original Dreamcast versions (at least version 1), had a drop rate for low tier rares (aka crap rare items) at like 1/65,000 with the good stuff at like 1/250,000 and beyond. The GameCube/Xbox versions fixed this absurd rates to be a more adjusted 1/500 or so for low tier rares.

So, could be much worse. :P

In Brightstone Cove, at the first bonefire, near the campsite, there is a 1 in a 1000(?) chance a pig will spawn. You can keep resting at the bonfire over & over to make him appear.
When he does, he will not be hostile, but will follow you.
Take him to the mushrooms near the bottom of the cave & inside a building & he will eat them & give you a pickaxe.

The draw of the weapon is that it is lightweight compared to the other great hammers (only 8 instead of 12-18 weight) & the base damage (150) is better than the lightest Great Hammer (110 base damage).

Spoiler dat!

Wait lucatiel
shows you her face
at the lost Bastille? How'd I miss that >.>
I think it might just be the second encounter wherever you meet her.

Got a slab drop from one of the
animated statue soldiers in Drangleic Castle
. What are the odds of that happening again?
I don't think they're super, super rare because I got at least 2. I meant to go back and farm them.

The guide says
"*There is a 1/1000 chance that a special piglet will spawn in Brighttone Cove Tseldora's Royal Army Campsite. If it doesn't appear, resting at the Bonfire or other wise resetting the area will give you another chance to find him. This piglet is not hostile and will follow you. If you can take the piglet all the way to the mushrooms in the bottom of the Cove, he'll eat the mushrooms and you'll get the Pickaxe. The mushroom as in the building following the crystal damage floors."only way to get it
The pickaxe was my best bro.. why did you do this from ;_;

I burned an ascetic to get Flame Weapon pyromancy and now I am Jesus.

My Flame Greatsword 10+ with Flame Weapon kills people in two hits and does 200 + damage on block HAHAHAH. I killed two invaders at the same time in Belfry Sol. I bet those guys felt bad :)

You can buff infused weapons now?

Holy shit, I thought I'd have to choose between my lightning mace and buffing a normal mace. This is excellent news.

Made some good progress today by
lighting the last two primal bonfires
I had to go, first in Brightstone Cove and then going through the Gutter and Black Gulch in one go.

took me a few tries
mostly thanks to my slight arachnophobia leading me to fuck up
, but knowing what to do makes the fight quite easy.
The Rotten
on the other hand was disappointingly simple, though the visual design was cool and fighting him was fun enough.

I was actually a bit disappointed at how little trouble I had with the Gutter, I was kind of expecting the place to creep me out as much as Blightown did. The only really annoying thing down there were those
fucking poison dart statues
.

This is amazing. I need to try this. It seems so farfetched, like somthing out of an old gaming magazine, ala unlocking Shen long or something haha! But I believe it because it's exactly the kind of thing from would do!

Is anyone else having a tough time getting into it? The feel is just.. a bit off. This adaptability stuff is garbage, I don't like how pathetically slow my guy does everything at the start. I just beat Gwyn yesterday hand to hand, and today I'm getting a beating from a hollow man with a spear. I know that the games are different and there's a learning curve again, but still - it seems excessive. I mean for god's sake, they can run faster than I can.

Just another stat to invest in, like any other.

Weight now screws with your movement speed in increasing variables now.

No sweat. Sure let me know when you want it after you play a bit more. I've beaten the last boss but I'll be knocking around NG for a while to try and clear stuff up for achievements.

UPDATE!

Just burned an Ascetic there, and I was able to get the katana on my 3rd kill. I'm terrified what the area is going to be like on NG+ and beyond though.

I just realised I completely ignored adaptability in my build.

Using a bandit with hard leather armor + 4 flame longsword + 4 (and warped sword) and kite shield + 4;

20 vigor
22 endurance
20 vitality
3 adaptability
26 strength
35 dexterity
3 int
8 faith
2 attunement

Should I be updating the adaptability stat? At soul level 89. I do get knocked back a lot.... would a higher agility help this?

Thanks for the info :) That is a pretty cool "easter egg". Kinda sucks that it seems so damn hard to get it though. Kinda reminds me of when farming for a Pure Bladestone in Demon's Souls.

I'm trying to get the Hidden Weapon spell but I'm about to start New Game +2 and I have yet to reach rank 2 in the Bell Keeper covenant...

Will my rank and my number of kills since I reached rank 1 be carried over to NG+2 ?

Speaking about bosses. Regarding one NPC,
Bernhart, do i have to keep him alive during the Throne of Want fight? Or do i have to keep him alive at the very last boss too? Can i do the Throne of Want boss now, then go to the Giant Lord boss and beat him too?

I'm pretty sure it carries over. I checked the covenant stats in NG+ and they were all there. By the way, maybe you already know this, but regarding the Bell Keep covenant,
if you see the red phantom that spawn in Belfry Sol and kill him, that counts as a kill towards the Bell Keeper rank. That red phantom spawn randomly though, so you might have to go down the bonfire many, many times. But its easier, and perhaps quicker, than beating real life players.

I'm loving the sin I've racked up, that's for sure. But nah, the only covenant you actually lose anything for dieing is Rat Covenant. Unless the Blue spirits lose something. Which I doubt.

On the other hand, though, they made red eye orbs difficult as hell to get so invasions are absurdly limited(Till you murder a ton of NPCs before NG+). So yeah, as with most the pre-release stuff with this game, this too seems to be fluff. Which I'm not too pissed about because there are a lot of things to like about what they made(And I was mostly on media blackout).

Is winning an Arena match that difficult? It was pretty clear they wanted people to get their organized PvP fix in the Arena then reward them with some invasions. I'm looking forward to it because many hours spent in Oolicile just waiting for PvP. I'm hoping the Arena's don't die like they did in Dark Souls so i'm kinda glad they have a point now.

I'm not a fan of the arena because there doesn't seem to be any sort of matchmaking by level. I fought people with NG+ items and guys that are clearly SL 200 (as a SL120 guy)...

In the same boat as you. I've heard nothing but horror stories about
The Gutter and Black Gulch
, so was totally dreading going into both areas. But yeah, besides the
poison statues
, there's no real challenge. And even they aren't that bad if you just take it slow.
