Yeah, I bought it on 360 when it released (very quietly), played a couple of mediocre missions, was appalled by the microtransactions and the game froze the console. I haven't turned my 360 since then, I guess it was the proverbial straw but that game is pretty underwhelming.

I think it's likely we will see the other Halos jumping to steam in the next year or so [At least by the end of 2015]

They'll have to make the ports/HD versions run on the XB1 which is an x86 architecture and DX11 so shouldn't be too complex to push it to PCs as well

EDIT: oh, didn't realize that this is technically the first Halo game on a not-entirely-MS platform at all. Steam no less.. Whoa.

The last thing I heard from Microsoft is that the game is impossible to play on Windows 7 because it takes advantage of all the amazing features of Windows 8.

It's a top down shooter vs First Person shooter. Very different than the other Halo's. Still, I've seen people say $5 would be the sweat spot for it over in HaloGAF.

Fully expecting the halo trilogy with full steamworks intergration soon enough. The use of steamworks for this bodes well considering MS's "new" found PC plans. No signs of anything insidious just yet
