I feel that the Lost Bastille~Sinner's Rise are the peak of the game.

Most people tend to think the best stuff comes toward the end of the game.Which I don't really agree with.

Forest of the fallen giants is really well designed but underwhelming graphically.

Yea I would disagree with that and I'm only half way through... I thought Lost Bastille-Sinner's Rise were kind of annoying. Not bad at all, but definitely not a high.
Iron Keep
for me so far has been the high... Really cool place even though it has its fair share of annoyances

Yep, I had to slap some skeptic's spices on that one.

Re: the patch, awesome to see that co-op now turns you human! Wise decision.

Yes, but you can use some Skeptic's Spice on it (Max 10 I believe, so you can get it down to 45), then invest some points that you put in faith in more health or something.

Ahh I totally forgot about those! I'll have to whip those out and respec again once I recruit the guy in No Man's Wharf in NG+ (screwed up that trophy my first time) and can dump my INT points.

Neo VS

Pursuer fight on NG+++++ done with fists only, no damage. This was an absolutely BRUTAL fight, all their attacks would 1 shot me on that difficulty and the bare fist moveset is complete shit. No shield either, all dodging and parrying, just finding an opening to attack is a process in itself.

I went to town on them though, I think it's worth a watch :)

Nice :) How do you do that much damage with just punching?

Lost Bastille was definitely boring and irritating to me. The area is so gray flat. And the mobs of exploding guys and Royal Soldiers were super annoying. Not a fan of simply being overrun instead of fighting strategically. Didn't like that area at all.

My favorite area was Shrine of Amana. Had to take it slow and methodical. Was so much fun. Reminded me of how enemies were placed in Demon's.

Vanquisher's Seal ring, it's the level 3 reward for the Champions Covenant. Makes your fist do more damage. Oh and 99 STR + Ring of Blades +2!

This fight was seriously one of the hardest things I've ever done in a game, it was absolutely insane. The bosses were so aggressive and relentless that lock-on would get me killed so I had to manually control the camera at all times.

That is pretty damn impressive, my friend.

I finally got to the demo area last night and I must have been severely over-leveled for it because it was a breeze. I went in there around level 100 but I think the reasoning for that is I forgot about the entrance and didn't realize there would be a person there waiting to open it for me later on. Pretty cool additions to the area and the
chariot
boss was just as cool as I remember.

Will end up finally beating the game tonight. I will then look for what tropies I can possible achieve before going onto NG+. It's funny, I have like 22 bonfire ascetics and yet to use any. Mainly cause I know I'll be going into NG+. Anyone else end up not using any? Since I will likely need to go all the way through NG+ to get to NG++ for those extra spells that that one guy in a certain castle sells, I may not use it on some of the NPC summons.

Same. I'll use end for more challenge if I make a new build though.

I may just go NG+ too. Should be way faster now that I know the game's areas inside out. We don't lose any souls or boss souls right? What do we lose?

These people are called psychopaths.

The 2nd half of the game was lousy, IMO. Uninteresting areas, characters and bosses that have (as far as I can tell) absolutely nothing to do with the story, and then a soupy turd of an ending.

Game's still alright, though.

Don't sweat it,
she's
a pushover even when fighting
her
solo.
Fixed :p

summoned players no longer fall under the ground at Earthen Peak
lol, would've liked to see that!

you will no longer be able to take off Covenant related rings while being summoned
Well that sucks. I'm guessing atm you can switch out rings when being summoned like with the forest covenant ring in DS1, but they're now making it so you can't? Silly.

Ah ok, i see.

HE WAS AN NPC?
DAMMIT
I wouldnt worry that much about it. He doesnt give anything of that big importance, and he sucks when being summoned for that particular boss, at least from my experience. There is always NG+ too, so you can get his rewards then if you want :)

He gives
Second Dragon Ring
though after you beat his
Master Freja
. I found that item to be quite useful for me, at least until I got
Third Dragon Ring

i didnt know i could lol
i come into a big area with a scorpion monster. first thing i did was shoot an arrow at him.
womp womp

If you're a Dark Souls veteran, you should know by now not to kill something until you know it's hostile. Heck, in the first game there were NPCs that used the exact same model as enemies. Whoever thought that up was a jerk.

I think he drops that upon death anyway. You'll just be robbed out of a
Fragrant Branch of Yore
. And one of the best gestures.

Why would I be robbed of a
Fragrant Branch of Yore
? It doesn't take one to get to him. (there are two paths, I always used the 2nd path)

oh yeah, totally. i almost always try to lock on to enemies but for some reason this guy just looked...so obviously like an enemy i didnt even bother and went straight to shooting him with an arrow to see how much damage it did lol

Best gestures in the game go!

My personal favorite is
Mercy
tumblr_mb3y6xy9Nq1qa0z1ho1_1280.jpg

War Cry
is pretty aces too.

I'm so sorry. >_< It's early.

If it's any consolation, and hopefully not another spoiler, the notion of "final boss" is very nebulous in this game.

War Cry, Pumped Up, Warm Up are my staples.

In every game I get summoned into I cast Warmth and then immediately praise my own sun by using
Mercy
. I laugh every time too!

Also, It's All Me when someone else uses No! never ceases to amuse me.

I quit, I saw him fist the
Dragon
to death too. Nooooooooope

A Sorcerer with a Blacksteel Katana? Who doesn't even bother using Sorcery anymore? How badly could I have screwed up this build? Oh wait, is that 9 Flame Swathes in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

I'm probably doing it wrong, but with Pyromancy as a secret weapon it almost feels like nothing else matters. Besides, love that sword.

So I finally got White Ring yesterday. Is it true that placing down a red summon sign will make it turn white? Or was that just a rumor?

There was also a rumor that Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring would not alert the host if you were trying to invade them. Though I'd guess that one is for sure false.

Also a gesture!
Hm, seeing this, maybe more important that i gave it credit for, yeah :) I didnt kill that NPC, but i didnt speak to him before after i beat the game, and still i managed fine. Getting the
2nd Dragon Ring
can be nice to have before you get the
3rd Dragon Ring
indeed, and learning the gesture is essencial for getting a trophy. Luckily NG+ is always an option =)

I dont know about the white ring, but i've heard that the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring thing is false.

I managed to
finish the game
and kill
Vendrick
, now I find myself at an impasse (cit.): there's plenty of stuff I didn't do, areas I didn't visit, bonfires I didn't know how to reach, so I'm going to explore and get some lore, but should I
do it in NG+ or stay in NG and throw some ascetic at bonfires?

I started running around the rat area last night on my new str/faith build, running up to the host in heavy armor and havel's shield and taking a few swings with my great club, he starts circle strafing and then oh wait Sunlight Spear dead because I'm a caster too! I'm still terrible at real pvp, but it's fun to mess with people's expectations.

The non-alert affect of the Dragoncrest Ring is for sure true-- I experienced it myself and had the shit scared out of me. A message never appeared, my controller never vibrated, and it definitely was not an NPC as it was a blue phantom in Heide's Tower.

edit: Although I guess that doesn't prove it was the ring's doing-- could have been a bug, and I've only had it happen once.

Not sure about the white ring, but I recently got one and am eager to test the effects.

What i did personally was that i did everything i could do before doing NG+. I dont think there is any need to use Bonfire Ascetic. If you're going to get the platinum trophy or all achievements, you need to go into NG+ anyway.

Fascinating take, I'll guess I will have to wait and see... Just arrived in
Grave of Saints
for the first time... This game is growing near DS1 status for me. So much variety and I love the feeling of going deep into the earth into terrifying places. Hopefully this bests valley of defilement and Depths/Blighttown.

Question, should I do any of the Pharros Lockstone's in this place, there are like 10 of them??

So I think I'm SL154. NG+ should be no problem for me right? I also have my Bastard Sword and Zweihander both at +10.

I guess I'll try infusing another weapon for fun.

Strange thing happened to me on my NG++, don't think this should be spoilered: So I rested and selected to start a new game, it sent me to Things Betwixt, but realised I'd forgotten a couple of things so I quit out as bit hadn't autosaved. When I reloaded it I was back in Majula, in what I guess was my previous playthrough, but with the bonfire unlit. I activated it and everything then reset for my new game, but with me started in Majula. Unfortunately I didn't realise it would reset so I didn't take the time to run around and see what had reset and what had before activating the bonfire (the old woman merchant was definitely there, and disappeared after activating the bonfire).

I read somewhere that you still get notified, but its kinda crazy that you wont get notified. I wonder if this will punish you if you disconnect then, not knowing that someone is actually connected to your game.

YOU DEFEATED.

Beat ze game. Last two bosses weren't that tough but I am surprised I did it in one go. Really loved the model design of the last one. Creepy stuff.

Curious to know how the bad ending played out. Unless I got that one, considering I
just walked forward
.

Dark Souls 2 definitely had a stronger end game than the original DS and the areas were much more pleasant to visit. Lotta group bosses though.
