Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Thinking about starting a second playthrough but I can't decide what kind of build to go with. This is where it annoys me that certain weapons I'd like to try like ricards's and the twinblade aren't really viable due to low durability. First time through I was very dex focused though probably going to go with strength this time but I am also tempted by dual wielding.

They took out the auto-respawning to some degree after a while

No but enemies only have a finite amount of spawns, so if you kill them enough times, they eventually disappear. There is an item in the game that will restore them I believe. Other than that, there's no scaling that I know of.

They stop spawning after you kill them 15 times or so. Would make sense if he's dying a lot.

Most enemies go extinct after 10 or 15 of them are killed, in a given area. They can be reset by using an item at the local bonfire but it makes them harder the next time around.

Ah. I didn't like the idea of "scaling" but this sounds pretty cool.

Alright guys, as someone brand new to Dark Souls, please help me decide (and state your reasoning):

1) Play through Dark Souls on PC (already own), eventually get DS2 on PC.

2) Pick-up Dark Souls 2 on 360.

3) Wait and pick-up Dark Souls 2 on PC.

You can use an ascetic on a bonfire and the boss near it will respawn and it definitely counts towards the trophy. For Lucatiel the useless: I did this on The Rotten, which is perfect. The second bonfire is very close to the boss, and it's a small area anyway. Perfect to beat the boss twice on. Red Eye Ring is recommended (to pull all the aggro). Rotten is an easy boss.

For Benhart you can redo the congregation easily.

I think I might just do this. Does
Freya
get super hard though if you go through a third time and she'd be NG++++?

Is there any way to beat the
Iron King
? He constantly spams his fire attacks. i can't defend or run away because instantly afterwards he uses his lazer beam to knock me into the lava. This boss fight sucks ass. Tiny arena and lava everywhere, and all his attacks knock you off into the lava or burn you to death?
The first thing I thought was to
use the flame quartz ring and flash sweat
, and that worked out nicely. Also,
you can avoid the flames by hiding behind the wall
.

Reasons: DS1 is amazing and is in no way made obsolete by the sequel. The stories are barely linked on the surface, but having played the first game, you will see the connections in the second, but in no way is it necessary to play them order. By the time you've finished the first game, the second will be out and you will be itching for more.

Wait, so you can redo the same boss fights twice with the Ascetic and it counts? I wasn't good against the Rotten. :p

What's the congregation?

Just after beating
Iron Keep
and
Sinners Rise
, the game has been really solid so far. Consistently good, although not quite as spectacular as the beginning sequences of DS1. I am just entering
The Pit
sequence and I am looooving the atmosphere. Will probably enjoy this more than the Depths/Blighttown sequence. If the end game really is as good as people say compared to the lazy end game of DS1 (although someone said you have to be psycho to like end game of DS2, so jury is still out I guess...), I think DS2 will be comparable to DS1 for me. That's super amazing that I could like a game as much as the first since that one blew my mind when I rented it on a whim the week it came out. Souls series freaking rocks.

I respeced my hex caster slightly.

13ADP -> 8ADP
25ATT -> 30ATT
Fire Longsword + 10 -> Dark Longsword +10
And I got the Southern Ritual Band +2 by using an ascetic and killing
Najka again
. I highly recommend this as a great use of an ascetic if you're a caster. The boss is still easy, you get a ton of souls, and the ring gives you three spell slots!

I don't miss my points in ADP at all. I have nearly the same agility I did before (since ATT also increases agility, just not as much), just slightly less poise and resistances.

i know we can approach the game from many angles but what is the suggested progression in terms of difficulty? I managed to struggle through the Ruin Sentinels/Lost Bastille and later realized I missed out on Heide's Tower of Flame and ended up beating the Dragonrider with ease.

no matter how much I think about this sentence, It just doesn't make any sense to me. Do you mean FINDING the souls? You are getting kicked out of the memory after a while. Just jump back in and explore the rest.

i mean feeding those things that opens the doors in drangleic castle, i have no idea whats it called

You can gow the normal route in which the game lists the areas via the bonfire warp menu.

Mejula => Things => Forest of Fallen Giants => Heide Tower => Cathedral => No-Mans Wharf....

Okay, so
Freja
is going to be fucking hard. Those little spiders kill me too fast. By the time I even get near her I'm already dead.

if you summon the npc phantom it will take care of the spiders, just circle the boss and be aware of the lazor, that's the only thing that was annoying to me

I farmed them untill I got their full set. No, they should respawn infinitely. Just do the left statue first (to prevent the bug that rarely occurs) and then proceed to farm to your pleasure.

If you have a bow, you can also easily cheese her to death. She won't do anything but laz0r which you can easily strife

I've been cooping the shit out of this boss. I use scraps of life to kill some of them, but didn't even worry about killing all of them when I did it solo. Hit her in the face after she whiffs a normal attack and run straight to the other side and attack once you see the tell for the laser attack.

I also experienced a glitch where the boss fight triggered before I went through the fog door. I got killed with that laser outside the fog!

My concern is that I'll miss out on the zeitgeist of the second game by the time I've finished the first. I game maybe 1-2 hours a day at best and at that rate, it could be a good while before I can get around to the second title.

Color me psycho then, I thought the last third of the game had some of coolest areas and bosses of the entire game, maybe series.

Zone Spoiler:
Forest of Sleeping Giants > Bastille > Belfry Luna > Sinner's Rise > Heide's Tower of Flame > No Man's Wharf > Backside of Bastille > Huntsman's Copse > Undead Purgatory > Harvest Valley > Earthen Peak > Iron Keep > Shaded Woods > Shaded Ruins > Doors of Pharos > Brightstone Cove Tseldora > Drangleic Castle > Shrine of Amana > Undead Crypt > Aldia's Keep > Dragon Aerie > Dragon Shrine > Memories > Throne of Want

Really? Those lil spiders go down in one hit each for me. Tried summoning for help?

I kill the spiders in 1 hit, but, they stun lock me or I get hit by the boss fighting them. I run away from them and theyll pop up behind me and do a ton of damage, or I get killed by the boss.
