Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

1) Lumiose is awesome.

2) Yesssss finally we see Pikmin on the 3DS version.

Yep. There are two hidden bonus in Sakurai's messages this week that people could overlooked.

1. 3D mode is confirmed for 3DS since I haven't heard that they would confirm 3D for Smash.

2. Pikmins finally got spotted in 3DS screen.

Well, if we don't get a character on Monday March will be the first month since announcement that we haven't got a character revealed.

Probably trying to get us hyped for the April Fools direct. Cue Anthony Higgs, Isaac, Takamaru, Chrom & Lucina, Ridley, Mewtwo, Captain Syrup, Samurai Goroh and Pichu Bros. getting announced for Smash.

Sakurai shows up after and says "two of these newcomers are real. Can you figure out which? (laughs)"

CUCCCCOOO!!

The Twilight Princess Cucco looks like it went goth.

No doubt which leaves me wondering what they'll have planned between Mario Kart and Smash. Bayonetta 2? Maybe Yarn Yoshi will reappear.

In Japan, Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2 are both summer releases. I would bet NOA is planning another completely dry summer with maybe a 3DS tentpole and then are going to try relaunching the Wii U again starting August with titles that should have come out worldwide months prior.

That's what I'm afraid of. I wouldn't be surprised, just sad.

I absolutely expect it, especially since Bayonetta and Hyrule Warriors both have release windows in Japan but not in America. Same Nintendo Direct, except our footage just says 2014.

I've been meaning to make a thread for it, but yeah, NOA is most likely just going to punt summer releases again and then wonder why no one is buying games in August.

That seems most likely, but you'd think they'd be scrambling like mad to at least make Hyrule Warriors happen by summer. That just seems like such a no-brainer in the middle of a drought.

I really don't like having no indication of when this game is going to be released. I kinda miss the more substantial Dojo site where you could go back and refer to things and everything was organised. We're nearing a year since the game was announced with no release date or window just a vague "2014, which is agonisingly tedious right now.

For Nintendo games and Smash Bros especially, games aren't ever released within 12 months of their announcement anyway but I'm just hoping that E3 gives us a solid date.

I'm sure we'll be getting something at E3 anyway. Until MK is released my Wii U is pretty much my "Netflix Machine". One of the best moment of the months leading up to Brawl was the blowout of information from the demo events Nintendo hosted and the YouTube videos people took in secret to showcase stuff like Final Smashes.

Honestly I prefer not having a release date to the soul-crushing agony of those two delay announcements.

If I had my way Smash info wouldn't be released until a month before the game drops. That way we'd get info and a release date.

Sudden Nintendo Direct in the month of ____

Iwata: You may be wondering when we will release Smash 4 for Wii U and 3DS. I would like to happily announce that it will be available for download after this Direct. Enjoy.

The delays 'were' soul crushing, but, at least we had something to look forward to and count down the days until. Right now we're pissing in the dark and when it got delayed it was kinda like "Well that sucks, but come [insert date here] I am BUYING you muthafucka!".

I'm not trying to sound entitled but I'm antsy and excited. Once we start seeing stuff like box art or store listing I MAY explode.

No offense, but that's stupid for marketing logic. You need few months to release good amount of informations before you release the game. From my knowledge, every fighting games did that.

Sakurai released information few months before Melee got released to the public because there are small contents and characters that he want to went over with the audiences.

Sakurai decided to do Super Smash Bros Dojo 6 months and half before the release because there are many contents to go over with but they had to delay the game so they had to stalling with some kind of information.

Sakurai probably want to please the audience so that's why we had daily image way early this time. People can be impatience sometime with informations. It don't bothered me because it's fun to see what Sakurai want to show us with the pictures.

Take a good look at Street Fighter and Marvel Vs. Capcom, they release informations for months, just same as Sakurai and his games.

Edited:

Summary: You really need more than a month to hyping up the biggest hit video game franchise. I can't even think of any biggest franchise that only release a a release date and informations one month before their release date.

Edited 2: I'm going to post the full list of characters reveals for last 3 games. Hopefully it would make the point for me.

I can't agree more. I don't need a definite Smash 4 release date just as long as it does, in fact, come out in 2014 as promised.

Wii u taking more L's

I'll accept 3DS only stages if the Wii u version gets every single stage from every game exclusive B^)

do it Sakurai
I don't see why they wouldn't, at the very least, release every single past stage as DLC somewhere down the line. It's be easy money, and they could release them for quite cheap since there's not a lot of work to be done on them.

I also really hope that sometime they release every 3DS version stage as HD-remastered DLC for the Wii-U version, but that's probably less likely to happen. :'s

Yeah this is gonna be a slow Summer for Wii U in North America. I'm thinking Bayo 2 in August, Hyrule Warriors in September, or maybe October. Then lots of stuff in October and November, including Smash.

I feel like life will be so much better once we have a new Smash. It'll feel good to play other games knowing that the moment they get boring, we'll have a sexy new Smash to fall back on.

It's comforting really :]

It's more likely to be slow, but I don't think it will bother me that much since I probably would play Mario Kart 8, Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, and other games that I'm behind in.

When Brawl and Mario Kart Wii's servers shut down so I think it would help me to focus on my backlog much better. I burned most of my free time on Brawl and Project M.

Plausible release date:

May - Mario Kart 8
July/Aug - Hyrule Warrior
Sept/Oct - Bayonetta
Nov/Dec - Smash Bros

I'm pretty sure that 7 to 8 months waiting for Smash wouldn't be that bad since we have daily images and other games to deal with.

I'm actually more pumped for Mario Kart 8 at this point since we'll be getting info next week on it and have a release date. Not only that but now the GBA games are coming.

It's weird to think that we're closer to E3 than we are to Rosalina's reveal, which still feels fairly new to me.

Yeah, I can see that we are getting close to E3 dates but it haven't hit me yet tho. I guess I could say that I'm anticipating for April Direct if they are going to release one rather than for E3. I guess I could get hype for E3 when we are getting very close to the date like a month before or so.

Speaking of which, I'm pretty hyped for this. Playing Super Mario Kart and Metroid Fusion is going to be really fun, especially with Metroid since I've never played it.

I don't understand the despise for "flying platform" stages. It's not as if they're as anti-mobility as Icicle Mountain was in Melee; many of these stages give you more than ample warning that they're about to move, and they provide a lot of variety in terms of stage layout within a single match as well as eye candy in the background. What's there to so adamantly hate about them?

I'm confused by the hate as well. There's no accounting for taste, and people preferring other types stages is totally fine, but I personally like them, glad to see this one!
