KV isn't hard until he jumps against a wall. Then you'll need to readjust and hope he ends up being back in the center of the room for easy evasion. He kept fucking jumping when I fought him. I checked YT and e didn't do it that much. I wonder if a patch changes his patterns.

Stamina was an issue so I just fought him naked.

Anyone else running through the game completely in offline mode?

Makes the game more satisfying and atmospheric personally. I'll probably get gold again for the 360 for a few months to start PvPing in Dark Souls 2, but the game world lacking humanity makes things feel more desperate and empowering at the same time.

Plus learning the best builds and weapon upgrade paths without people fucking up your day is nice.

I got it early so I played through it the first time offline. It was definitely awesome not knowing what to expect. I didn't find
Heide or the ring of binding
until way later than I should have, and I beat my head against
The Lost Sinner
for far too long before I realized I could go somewhere else.

It'll probably be a while before I do another single player only run because I really enjoy the multiplayer, but I want to kill the optional bosses I haven't fought yet solo.

So, what is everyone's experience with adaptability/agility? I'm still new to the game, and haven't made the decision yet on whether to pump it or not. I know it's effective for estus chugging and maybe shield raising, but I want to know whether it helps with stuff that is actually useful in PVP, i.e. dodging.

There seems to be conflicting information out there regarding this. There is this topic on the FAQZZZ and this video that suggest it's useless for dodging. The video just show roll speed, but the gamefaqs topic takes into account both speed and i-frames.

But then there is this video, which admittedly uses a rather imperfect testing methodology, but which suggests that, while dodging speed is not affected, i-frames definitely are. Judging by this video, agility of around 93 should be ideal.

So, again I ask, what is your experience?

edit: fixed the second link

I am doing quite well in PVP with a STR/Pyro build. My ADP is 20 (i highly recommend getting it to 20 and stopping) and i ALWAYS keep my weight under 50%. There is a huge difference IMO in roll distance, i-frames and most important stamina regen if your weight is over 50%. I think stamina regen/dodging is key if you are going for a STR build.

All 3 are amazing and worth playing. Play them in order imo and take your time.

EDIT: Actually it may be better to play DS 2 now since it is very active right now.

Yes Definitely play all 3 games if possible

I really hope all of these games get redone for Current Gen so that they look and play better as well as revive the online play

Anyone have advice on a nice DEX finisher weapon for pvp? I'm running dual spotted whips right now which can reliably poison, but I keep running into these guys who just run away and heal. I can chase them and follow up, but my weapons aren't doing enough damage to stop the heal. Maybe the best way is to get a dagger to +10 just for the backstab finish? Basically I'm looking for a weapon that will do huge damage up-front for the finish while the guy is poisoned.

At this point I'd recommend people play DS2 before 1 as training wheels for character building. While the stats do work a bit differently, being able to respec in 2 is a good learning tool.

I'm actually going to be offline on the PC version eventually. For Dark Souls, I was strictly offline so I wanted to swich it up for DS2 on my first run. Its been slightly less atmospheric as a result, but I do like helpful messages especially for things I'd miss entirely, like hidden walls. I've only been killed by another player twice so far in the Grave Of Saints area, where I was summoned and promptly slaughtered. That's my biggest hurdle there--never dueled anyone at all. They were doing shit that I'd never seen as I'm always melee and have no familiarity with spells, etc.

Quick boss question (I'm before the fog) :

if I leave the
vendrick
room without
killing him
the first time I see him, can I come back later ? I have only one giant soul...

Haha, so in a place where you can barely see ahead of you, the game places
invisible enemies
... figures

If you hit them, they become easier to see via the health bar above them. Plus they shimmer. So just look for that slight off-set.

Yes.

I found it to be a good bit easier as well, I don't see how going from 2 to 1 would be a huge deal. But definitely play them all.

Color me psycho then, I thought the last third of the game had some of coolest areas and bosses of the entire game, maybe series.

You are psycho. Last areas are just tubes funneling you to the next area, and only the D
ragon areas
look any better, and even they remained pretty straight forward.

I think some of the end game looked nice, but the level designs - layouts and such - were boring to playthrough imo.

Exactly. A few directed areas are fine, but the last ones felt very "video gamey", instead of like the world that DS1 had. It was only the earlier areas that had a more world feel, Forest of Fallen Giants, Lost Bastille, and a few others.

you can't respec in 1? And what you say is true. I respeced a few times already. I have a better idea of what I want now in leveling.

Guys, I need yalls opinion.

Im a high INT build (50). ATT at 25.

Should I throw more into Faith to use hexes (bring it up to 30)? More in INT?

By str and dex are both at 16.

Thoughts?

I have 50,000 souls, and Im scared to use any of them until I know! Im at a crossroads.

Nope

But its also a game where its much quicker to start over and get to optimal PVP level with Multiple characters

Assuming you know what you are doing

Hell no, don't be crazy. Play DkS1.

I'd jump into 2 first just because this will be the best time to play it, live with the rest of the community. Still play the first though, you might end up enjoying it even more then.

I'm actually still playing Demon's. NG+ and doing the White and Black World Events, which I didn't understand first time around. No Plat, though--sounds awful btw.

But I am sad the Demon's community isn't as active. I wanted to do some invasions to troll.

Nah, and some people got their panties all in a bunch when it was revealed you could respec in this, lol

Hexes do the most damage if your INT and FTH are the same. If you mostly want to cast hexes and have 50 INT and 30 FTH, you won't get an additional Dark BNS until FTH is also 50.

are we talking about the same games here? I think you miht be looking at the last levels of dark souls 1 with rose tinted goggles. They were abysmal

Yes. I just started doing this 3 days ago, and I'm enjoying the game 10x more. No more annoying invasions/summons, no more temptation to summon help for a boss that's kicking my butt. Just me, my gear, and the world. It immerses me so much more.

Thats it! I want to get max level on a Covenant for the achievement but I dont want to deal with the
Darklurker
right now. So I joined the Sunbros. Commence praising!

I hope theres enough coop on NG+ SL 160 range.

Is it advisable to level in a jack-of-all-trades, master of none kind of way? I'm only level 35 or so, and I've got my STR and DEX at 14, INT at 6, ATTUNE at 10, VIT at 12, etc.

Should I ignore certain categories as I go further? I want to cast basic spells, have high mobility/roll and be able to use bows as well as sword and board. Is it a mistake to pump souls into some of those things?

And I admire those of you playing it solo, but it's way more fun for me to summon others. The other night 3 of us had an EPIC battle with Old Dragonslayer. It really took all 3 of us working together and it felt soooo good when we beat him. All 3 of us did the "praise the sun" pose at exactly the same moment. I had such a smile on my face!

Sunbros is the easiest. That's how I got the trophy.

Yes suck my dick ancient dragon i beat you! I did it by using flash sweat so i was able to survive when i couldn't run fast enough, the rest of the fight i used the "stay near his rear paws" method which only worked half the time but i made it work so happy. I also beat
vendrick which was pretty damn easy only took me 3 tries
Now all i have left to beat is the covenant boss
Darklurker
but i'm confused, i went trough the dungeon once and i beat it but when i tried to do it again i got the same exact dungeon weird.

yep. That is how I got it too. There are a lot of co-op for the boss at the 1st bonfire at D
rangleic
C
astle
. I'm like lv 200, NG still, and see plenty upon plenty of summons there.

Yeah, I checked the wiki and it seems like its the easiest to rank up
not counting the dark covenant but Im not build to beat the boss now
. Also, praising in coop is always fun

Vendrik is such a long fight and one srew up and your done.

Get the giant souls and it should be reasonable. Felt like a normal boss pretty much. Keep close and roll towards, this works for 99% of the game.

Edit: I think I quite liked the ancient dragon fight. Spent a bunch of times dying before finally nailing my strategy and it felt awesome to take him down. Big cool arena and a different fight from all the other samey pushovers.

Ancient Dragon is a dick.

:(

How I did it:

- Naked
- Gyrm Shield+10 (80 stability, 100% fire block)
- END ~32 (can take two hits to shield from fire)
- Lightning Greatsword+10
- At least one summon to keep his focus fragmented.

Was a longish fight but relatively simple. Just gotta not get greedy and keep a certain distance.

Or just continuously hug his left leg as that's a safe spot.

So what is the best way forward? 50 Faith would be me at around 140 soul level. Might be a little high.

Where would you suggest I put my remaining souls? Im about 92 now. (or should I respect)

I'm SL 155 on NG+ and seeing signs everywhere in the opening areas, and am constantly being invaded as well.

yep, I placed my sign on Corpsman and I'veen summoned non stop. Seems like leveling will be smooth
Im sure it would be even faster in the Castle but I have yet to reach that in NG+
