Only way you will know if the person you invade is hollow is if they aren't wearing armor. They'll still show a full health bar regardless if they really are at 50% or not.

I've been invaded A LOT while hollow. I think you don't notice it as much because of the Life protection ring nowadays though.

Wait, so you guys are saying that someone can in fact get straight up invaded if they're hollow? I had absolutely no idea if that's the case.

Just beat that lame ass boss dragonrider. Easiest boss ever...and I used the same "stay behind him" strategy as I did on the giants. So far dark souls one is far superior, but I still have a lot of game left.

If the game were a loaf of bread, you haven't even taken the twist tie off yet.

It is. I don't mind personally, I just don't use human effigies often and don't use the ring, but I like being invaded. I can see why it bothers some people though.

Though the 2nd time I was ever invaded in this game was when I was full hollow 50% health. Was pretty satisfying when I won though.

i'm SL 150, SM almost 4 mil and can't see any summon signs around sinners in ng+. pretty sad. i'm sure i could find plenty in ng.

weird, I'm 150, with like 6 million soul memory and it took me like 5-6 attempts on NG++ and I summoned multiple people outside the boss fog (PS3)

Took me a bit to warm up to the game - thought it was 'good but not great' at the start. By the end of the game - it's kind of amazing.

The hit boxes for the soul arrow things the sorcs use in Shrine of Amana is fucking rediculous. You get hit mid roll sometimes.

I kind of love/hate
The Vendrick
fight.

It's the kind of fight that you know is kind of stupidly easy, yet at the same time - can get killed really fast if you fuck up. The room for error on it is very low.

Had a few fights of just getting creamed - sometimes not getting in one hit. A few fights of 'trying to be fancy' with hexes / etc - doing well, but then messing up.

Eventually, just slowed my pace - calmed down, took it easy, and took him out without getting hit once.

So..I was having some trouble with V
endrick w/ 4 Giant Souls
.

I was having no luck with my usual combo of Large Club/Pyromancy and Tower Shield. I just wasn't able to stay behind him using the club plus blocking one handed would just cause me to stagger so I figured just for fun I'd try 2 handing the Tower Shield.

Beat him in 3 attempts using the jumping attack doing 228 per hit.

Do you have cross region play restricted? I live in a region where barely anyone plays this on the xbox, so I set it to allowed and did all 30 summons for the sun bro covenant in a few hours.

So what are the most active coop spots???
Bonfires which lead to multiple bosses. Huntsman's Copse's Undead Lockaway is my personal favorite. 2 bosses, both considerably easy and short routes to both.

YES! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

Darklurker
is dead. D-E-A-D!

Nothing can stop me now.

Yeah, I turned on cross region and I'm getting summoned as a SunBro quite a bit at SL150-ish. Didn't go into NG+ yet but I've gotten summoned into a few NG+ versions of areas (No Man's Wharf, Iron Keep).

Oddly enough I didn't start getting human invaders until after I saw the end credits and was trying to finish getting Sunlight Medals.

Currently farming the Mad Warrior to level up the Bell Covenant in offline mode. Should he be dropping titanite chunks as well, cause I'm not getting any from him?

Edit: On first playthrough if it matters.

At
Tower of Flame
now, but struggling way more than I did in the first game. Not enjoying myself that much as a result. Haven't played in a week actually. I picked Sorcerer as a class and right now it feels like I'm made of glass AND my spells aren't doing that much for me in the current environment. Heard the class doesn't get much of any useful loot so I'm seriously considering picking a new character and starting over. Any advice?

I finally beat the game guy! Too the final is the worst final boss in the soul series by far, i basically shoot my great lighting spear at him until he died ZERO challenge. Also the ending is kinda vague, was the whole game about
rekindling the lost flame that i assume flamed out after the evens of DS1?
Thats umm okay, that seems kinda....bland i dunno. Yeah i really like Dark souls 2 but most of the bosses are downgrade compared to the first dark souls, still pretty damn good tough.

i lifted the restriction some time ago. didn't help much. guess i'm going to level up to 200 if i have to. doesn't matter anymore.

trouble started when i went to ng+. everything before was fine.

Spent some time as a NG sorcerer Bellbro this afternoon, and had a damn good time of it. Either I tear through them with soul spears or mess up their rolls with homing missiles.

My best round was with this guy who peppered me with arrows and knew how to avoid my homing missiles - after hitting him with a regular soul arrow I managed to run up to him while he was healing in a corner and spam one-handed fire longsword attacks 'cause he had no poise. Victory achieved.

You've barely scratched the surface of the game. As a fellow sorcerer who played through the whole game magicking my way through, I'd advise sticking through it because it really pays off as you gain new sorceries and eventually feel unbeatable in PvE (except for 2 bosses which I needed to summon partners for) and, often, in PvP. I only gained a new staff in the last 5-10 hours of the game, but having upgraded it gradually as I got the necessary resources was sufficient.

I made the mistake of ignoring vigor a bit too much at the beginning of the game, though, and I found it near impossible to get through certain sections of the game when I was about SL 75 with 4 in VGR. At the beginning, I'd advise investing more in ATT and INT then anything and have less than 30% equip load while getting used to rolling efficiently, you should eventually get ADP and, especially, VGR up gradually.

Edit: I never invested in anything but ATT, INT, ADP and VGR, but if you can't get used to rolling, I guess the END and STR stuff would be important to at least manage a shield. Ended the game at SL 151 with 77 INT.

If you're gonna play like I did, get used to exclusively using binoculars in one hand and a staff in the other in order to manually aim spells. That was extremely useful multiple times throughout the game.

Use a soul vessel and just respec your points instead of starting from scratch. Add some VGR, END, VIG, STR & DEX so that you can wear some better armor, have some melee options. Playing as a pure caster is doable, but you'd need to learn how to dodge everything instead of just blocking them.

Casters are a bit of a slow start - when I was starting my hexer, started as a cleric and 2-handed a mace for a very long time. Took awhile until my spells were powerful / plentiful enough to be my primary form of damage/combat.

I just want to say, to the sunbro who did 80% of the work on the S
melter Demon
only to trade deathblows with him, I owe you some twinkling titanite.

Get a mace. Make it into a magic mace later. But get a mace. 12 strength is all you need to swing it with one hand. 12 strength, coincidentally, is what you need for the lightest 100% physical resist shield. Put some points into Vigor to raise health. Put some points into ADP to raise agility faster (attunement does this, but at a slower rate). Remember that you can respec out of all this later; but early on, being able to bash things down is a godsend unless you're completely against the idea of meleeing.

Any spells I can get at this point beyond
(Great) Soul Arrow
? Not sure if respeccing is worth it at this point. I'm only level 20 something because I keep dying before cashing in my souls. The dodging thing is a good point, and is probably what's giving me some difficulty now as I played a substantial part of DS1 with a very tanky shield. Current strength is only 7 I think.

Not opposed to meleeing at all. Until now it just hasn't really been an option. Think I have a mace in my inventory. As for defense, I played up until after the first boss without a shield so more options there would also be very welcome.

Double posted, sorry. Thought the thread was faster.

With STR at 7 you can equip the Large Leather Shield, which is free, and is a pretty good shield. You can buy better spells if you find the sorcery trainer down in
No man's wharf
. This was why I decided playing a pure caster only on my second playthrough, I didn't want to rely on guides or forums but casters are very dependent on knowing where to get more spells quickly.

Trying a STR character. Got my STR up to 40 and dual wielded clubs. Killed the
Ruin Sentinels Solo in several hits each.
Damn these clubs are nice.

Aren't most of the spells placed at pretty straightforward locations, though? The only thing I consulted for spells as a sorcerer were which boss souls I could consume right away, and which I had to keep a hold of for new spells (which was only a couple).

There is also a fire longsword in the forest of the giants which is a good low stat investment weapon. But the mace is a good choice for any class. Strike weapons are really effective in this game.

Magic is OP at higher levels.

For people having trouble with Royal Rat Authority. There is a very distinct pattern that it follows that you can dodge. Just keep at it. You'll get it.

Some keys, pretty easy: have a lightning buff on your weapon. Use the rat statues as barriers to funnel them towards you and keep from getting surrounded. Keep moving if they mount beyond that. Keep an eye on your health. Run away to use Estus as needed. Done.

I dont quite remember how the Shaded Ruins one is, but i think the one in
Drangleic Castle is the easiest. It only has 4 phantoms, and the dark portal is just a few seconds away from the bonfire.
man, I died 4-5 times there.
Havel and the guy with the short weapon
hit hard and the location has a lot of holes.

Why do enemies attack gray phantoms instead of the host? I had a bunch just stand around the host and do nothing, then whale on me.

Make sure you're upgrading your catalyst. It's very important. Play it safe, use range to your advantage. Binoculars are your greatest weapon until your spells start to 1-2 shot things.

So, 2 people can't summon one another if they've beaten the boss of an area. But, if we both (or one) uses a Bonfire Ascetic, we'll be able to summon each other right? (our levels and Soul Memory work out, we're NG).

It's for PvP in Iron Keep.
