Damn... Well what is the fourth great soul then? I have
Lost Sinner, Old Iron King, and The Rotten. I just beat the Song Demon and can't seem to progress anywhere else.

You're all set with Freja's Soul. You can keep progressing after the Demon of Song. Dunno if you missed it but there's a small tunnel leading out of the boss room.

Well shit. I circled that damn room twice and saw nothing. How embarrassing to miss something like that for a seasoned explorer like myself. Thanks guys!

Not yet. Didn't know where to go to get the giants souls so he wiped me out befor I could really put a dent into him. Think I might hit the wiki and finish that and a few more things (still haven't killed the chariot boss for example)

The memories have 4 (one in each) in them I believe. Seems like you already got one if you beat the giant lord so there should be three more. The ancient dragon holds one as well.

I ate Frejas soul for the souls to level up since I didn't want any of the boss weapons thst it makes. Am I screwed now? Or will it still count after I get the heart thing?

The
ruin sentinels
fight is horrible. Fighting two at once is always rough, but it's not even like they're different so you can exploit that. I have no idea how to do this on melee, I'm level 52 with a Heide sword +2.

kill the first up top, wait for second to jump up, then jump away when the third joins, then circle the room baiting them into throwing their shields, then it's a lot easier. They are weak to strike weapons and lightning. Also you can leave them for much later or skip them entirely if you explore other paths.

Do you mean the first part or the second part of the backstab animation? You aren't invulnerable during the first part.

Like full blown well into the part of the animation where they are on their knees. I know the initial part you can still be hit, but it makes no sense when they are between attack animations. This last time was the npc invader at Huntsman's copse across the rope bridge. Caught him after a bunch of swings turned around, started to swing but caught it fast enough that it got to the point where he was on his knees and my character was going for the last hit and still got killed.

And no there was no other monsters around.

This has happened in several spots and I'm sick of these random bugs/glitches/what ever they are inconsistency in this game.

Giant Lord
. I'm 0 - 40. Any suggestions would be great. I can do decent damage with my lightning bolt spells, but I don't really survive long enough to use more than a few.

Buy a bow and some poison arrows. Sprint through the mess and get to the small platform up bear him (and on the left). Turn him into a pin cushion. He'll can't get on the platform with you and should only use the overhead smash. Just dodge it to the left and right. Super, super easy.

Completely demolished
Dark Lurker
. Died a couple of times on the A
ncient Dragon
. This fight is kind of dumb. It's just a matter of running quickly enough and in the right direction when he does his flame attack.

Am I screwed? I just posted about asking what to do next but I think my game might have glitched.
Apparently, Freja's soul is supposed to turn into a great soul after you touch the red stain on the ground, which I did, and it said "Great Soul Embraced." At the time I found it odd that it still appeared as a normal boss soul. And now there is no red stain on the ground but a triangular stone slab that I can "examine" to which the game replies "alas, nothing happened."

I have all other great souls.

again, you are already at the point, where you would have needed those souls.
even if something had gone wrong, it wouldn't have mattered.

your fine..

so, seems like I opend to many spoilers in this thread.

just found out that you need
Giant's Kinship to face the last boss.

that means you need to talkt to the
ancient dragon
to recieve the
Ashen Mist Heart
and then go into the
giant memories

who does tell you need
giant's king ship to face the last boss
and who tells you that you have to find the
ancient dragon
and then who tells you to go
into the memories
?

^anyone?

I'm trying to clear some stuff up before plunging into NG+ and I've noticed an area on the travel menu that is still greyed out and it's bugging the shit out of me. It's the tile after Heide's Tower of Flame and before No-Man's Wharf. What the hell did I miss?

C
athedral of Blue
maybe?
It's part of Heide, you need to lower a drawbridge by hitting a switch that activates after killing a stone knight

That's not inconsistent at all. The enemy's swings aren't always cancelled with your attacks since some animations seem to get some kind of hyper armor at one point during the animation. (Kinda like your roll)

Guess it's like trading hits but yeah, doesn't really make sense when you successfully backstab them. =/ This exact situation never happened to me though but there's definately a lot of unneccessary hits you take from enemies that should be dead, like they can still hurt you for a few frames after they die for some reason.

It doesn't tell you directly but the item description of the
Ashen Mist Heart
says something along the lines of
"Enables you to relive the memories of things long withered away"
. I just instantly thought of the
tress of giants in the forest of fallen giants
after that.
No idea if there are any more direct instructions.
About the
Giant Lord
I just kinda ran into him while checking all the
Giant Trees
I remembered.

are you kidding me? I want to Ascetic the Chariot boss for the stamina reg ring +2. First I used it on the wrong boss (
Skeleton Lords
) >_> and now I used it on the correct bonfire but the boss didn't respawn?! Which bonfire is the correlating to Chariot?! Neither 'Bridge Approach' nor 'Undead Lockaway' worked.

Thank you! I somehow completely missed that bonfire despite having been up and down there three or four times. For some reason I wasn't Dark Soulsing properly.

Ok guys I need some advice to take down this annoying boss:
Ruler of the dark or something like that, an angel like dude.
Right now I'm trying to up my magic defense and I'm using that shield that lowers 90% of all non physical attacks. (Can't remember its name). So far, I can easily lower its health to 50% but then it creates that damned clone. After that, it's just me running around trying not to get hit, without much success.

so I have to wander around till I stumble over/remember that
king's gate
in the shaded woods, when I searched for a way to continue in
dranglic castle
after the
throne defender/watcher
fight?

Goddam, just used my 7 skeptic spices on the wrong miracle... I wish I had thought about this more carefully. I was planning on getting 35 faith and then use skeptic spices for great lightning spear... but I used them on sunlight blade instead.

It's the undead purgatory bonfire you need to use the ascetic on. The one near the Brotherhood of Blood covenant NPC.

Yay, beat the game.
Now I can finally play one of the multitudes of games I have purchased since this game released.
Like, any of the games on the PS4 I bought last week. :P

I forgot her dialogue, but yeah. First time through the game I was wandering around kind of aimlessly toward the end, figured out enough to get to the credits eventually

Use flame swathe if you have it.

Has anyone ever been able to do the Catherdral of Blue covenant?

The ring is on, the symbol is glowing, but when i lay down a blue eye orb... it says Joining Failed.

Every. Single. Time.

Is it just me? Or is it broken?

You don't need the ring for blue eye orbs. Blue eye orbs are used for invasion, while the ring is used to be summon to help people sometime. I never really bothered with the ring.

That's nothing. Try greatswords like the Bastard Sword or Claymore. The phantom range on these things is ridiculous.
The sprinting light attack with the Washing Pole is the stupidest thing I've ever seen with lag, I chase people down from like 20ft away with that thing.

do I need to buy all of the
ladders
for the hole in Majula? Or just the most expensive one?

Also for the Bell Covenant:

So I joined, but I was mostly getting invaded myself. The one time I invaded, the game kicked me out immediately because the person got to the boss or something? So I went ahead and killed the boss myself in my own game. My question is, will I continue to be invaded myself, or since the boss is dead I can now just hang around waiting to be summoned?
Really, all I want is chunks, so I'm just wondering how exactly do you get them?

I'm not sure I get what's up with the damage ratings of weapons. For me, the old knights halberd deals quite a bit less damage than the Falchion, even though the former has much higher damage ratings. Sure it has good range, but I don't think that makes up for it's slowness and large weight.

Also, my inner loot whore is subjecting myself to low-defense armor: Prisoner's tatters and travelling merchant helmet. I hope I won't find too much more armour like this or I will be very easy to kill.

It could be that him and Smough were illusions in the first one and that was the real Ornstein or a version of him.

That would make sense, thanks!

I just take it as the
Ornstein in Anor Londo
being undead himself but not hollow. Then you fight him Hollowed and fallen to the Dark in the Blue Cathedral. Probably too simple for Dark Souls standards but it makes more sense to me than the whole illusion thing. :P

That also makes sense, but doesn't really feel satisfying somehow. As you say, feels a bit too simple :p

does it matter where you put it down?

Where else do the Desert Pyromancers appear other than the Earthen temple or whatever its called (the big windmill o' poison). I'm trying to get their armor set and cannot get the top to drop. Now I killed all of them.

The one for 3500 will get you close enough to the Grave of Saints entrance (with a few drops), and there is a drop from there to get to the gutter. However if you die before you get to the first gutter bonfire, you'll have to go back through the GOS to get back.

I bought both (mainly because I didn't realize there were two entrances down there...not counting the locked door)

does it matter where you put it down?

You don't put down a sign. You just invade the guilty like the Darkmoon Covenant. Most of the time you invade in the area you use it in but you do invade other areas too. They just seem to have lower priority.

Also for the Bell Covenant:

You're getting invaded yourself if you're in the bell tower. You don't have to be there to invade yourself. Just go back to the bonfire. Assuming your lvl and soul memory aren't ridiculously high you should be summoned very regularly.
And you can still be invaded after you killed the boss.

I have a bunch of Smooth and Silky stones that I've horded over the course of the game and am going to go drop them in the nest in Things Betwixt to hopefully get some good stones.

Anyone know if using something like a Rusty Coin impacts the quality of the stuff you get back?
