This thread is why MGS is the best. Any other game with "wackiness" gets shut down, because it's usually tied to some on rail shooter with the bare minimum of story. But Kojima games have hours and hours of dialogue that allows people the chance to make these theories without seeming totally implausible.

Why is the game so far away in time? Judging from Ground Zeroes and the Phantom Pain trailers (which is 10 months old) you'd think they've completed quite a big part of the game.

We havent seen anything on bosses or base management yet. But yes it does suck that this is like a year away. Substantial time waa likely spent on the proprietary engine.

Riddle me this non believers, why has most of the cast for Phantom Pain has been shown except for Chico? Huey, Ocelot, Skull Face, Kaz, young Psycho Mantis, Code Talker, young Liquid, yet no Chico? Chico is one of main side characters in Peace Walker and plays a huge part in Ground Zeroes, why not show a older Chico? Its not as if Chico being alive is some sort of plot twist in of itself, nor was he a character most MGS fans cared about. A 20/21 year old Chico being in the Phantom Pain wouldn't be a stretch at all.

Chico being some sort of Gray Fox, cyborg freak would make sense. Making him a messed up cyborg would make his reveal in Phantom Pain more powerful. BUT, Kojima would probably show Chico off if he was in this state. Raiden's shitty transformation in MGS4 was shown way before release, Kaz is shown armless and legless, broken and disfigured.

So, either Chico is in some of really fucked up state and still has to be shown, or he went through a transformation and has become Quiet. Chico was in the Phantom Pain trailers all along.

I think some stuff was changed man. Helicopter crashes are bad enough, two helicopters colliding is some wicked shit. You really think Big Boss will walk away, with some scratches, when he was right next to the head on helicopter collision? Did you see the collision? One helicopter was going at full speed.

What if what you're referencing is a dream/coma sequence from Big Boss's perspective?

I don't see Chico being Decoy Octopus. I honestly view Decoy Octopus as a supernatural freak with some talent. Chico wasn't born with with espionage talents. Young Psycho Mantis is already doing his psycho thing, Chico was born with no awesome talents.

His mother is cited as the woman that ended World War 2 and his father has mind/spiritual powers. He's been a double/triple agent, has had Liquid inside of him, has incredible hand and eye coordination, has multiple ties to different military groups.

Chico's past thus far has been tame. I don't see Chico having similar motivations or aspirations as Ocelot.

While I agree that the theory seems largely implausible I find your line of reasoning for debunking it much more questionable.
I don't think a female actor would feel insulted to play a character who self identifies as a woman. The suggestion that because she is attractive she would not be suited to play a transgendered person is ridiculous and offensive.

Kojima based Quiet off a real life model/actress or whatever the fuck she is. Meaning they paid her money for her looks. I doubt Kojima went out of his way to look for a woman with similar facial structure as Chico, so that crosses out the similar facial theory.

Secondly, I think it would be quite insulting to the actress if the character she was based off was in reality a man - not trying to be insult anyone, but it would imply that she looked manly. I don't think Kojima would do this, it'd be a rather low punch to the face cap actors he hired and could hurt his reputation.

Yeah the argument that its a pretty girl isn't really sound. Lets humor the theory. Kojima wants the player to feel bad when quiets background is revealed. How does hiring a pretty girl to play quiet take away from this? It doesn't.

There's too much guesswork when Strangelove's involved. Whether Huey was really an agent for XOF (We think there was another besides Paz, I just thought it was Kaz before) or just a naive fool, we don't know yet. I kinda like the idea of having "Essentially-Otacon" working against you for once.

It's possible Skullface was simply referencing Huey falling for Cipher/XOF's ruse in pretending to be the IAEA and seeking access to Mother Base. Huey is well intentioned but woefully naive and gullable, also being used as a pawn by Coldman in Peace Walker. But the fact he is later tortured by Ocelot and Miller suggests they may believe him to be a spy.

FWIW, in 1984 Otocon would be 4 so it'll be interesting to see if the little nipper makes a cameo, possibly alongside a 12 year old Solid Snake, aka Dave. It could be like Muppet Babies, but with Metal Gear cast members.
