Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Finally defeated the
Ancient Dragon
after at least 30 tries. Using a white soapstone in the area is a great way to get souls and perfect the strategy. Ended up summoning 2 people for help, one of them died instantly, but fortunately the other guy knew what he was doing. Finally conquered all bosses. After 65 hours I think I'm finally ready for NG+.

Mirror Knight round 2, and I die without doing any damage to the boss. What am I doing wrong here? His attacks are slow and predictable, but, i can't dodge them at all. I dodged every other boss just fine, but, MK hits me every time. Does he have some kind of weird tracking?

After completing Infamous Second Son on the PS4, I decided to get back to Dark Souls II.

And I finally found the first boss and killed it with my puny sorcerer dude. Got my attunement up to 25 already too.

But I think I've been missing some stuff here and there. I know there's supposed to be the dude that owns the big house somewhere in the Forst of Giants. But I have not encountered him.

Finally got the Alonne great bow now half of iron keep is empty in the process I got this stuff:
  1. Captain helmet X 4
  2. Alonne Knight helmet X 4
  3. Captain armor
  4. Alonne Knight armor X 3
  5. Alonne gauntlets X 6
  6. Alonne leggings X 3
  7. Full ironclad set
  8. Iron clad helmet X 3
  9. Blacksteel katana X 8
I've got a lot of stuff now. I've got to find Galvan.

The dragon armor looks great.

But the stats are rather crap for the an armor that can't be upgraded and that you get rather late into the game. It's light, but when you can carry up to 70% and still get a good roll being "light" isn't as usefull anymore

Try to dodge toward his sword hand, not his shield.

You will do if you look around. It requires a jump.

Everyone in pvp. The answers: Vengarls and Havel's.
/sigh
mh, today I just replaced Vengarls armor with Velstadt's one. it's not really a big difference and if there isn't nothing really better than those I guess that's it.

about bonuses, is there anything great? So far I've only seen +attunement slots and + maxweight, nothing else.

Investigate some more around the area close to the Second bonfire in the Forest where you have tons of dudes shooting arrows at you.

Other notable loot is a Titanite Slab and White Sign Soapstone. Did you get these?

I think doing the NPC in boss fights trophies in NG+ is probably too hard, i'll just start a new character for those two trophies. Has anyone done those two trophies in ng+?

At last, I am prepared. Let's do this.

dark_souls_iron_keep_2.jpg

I did this just now. So glad I finally got it to work. Put on the sinner's mask, my other best fire resist gear and +2 fire def ring. Activated flash sweat and munched an elizabeth shroom. Barely managed to open the chest. Tense.

Yes, it's not hard at all actually. Got them both in NG+ Wearing the red eye ring helps a lot, as does the bonfire ascetic trick (beating 1 boss multiple times also counts). I didn't even have to use the ascetic trick for Jugo, just the red eye ring.

O my god sliding down the tall ladder into the Pit is giving me traumatic flashbacks to Blighttown.

Something terrible is about to happen, isn't there? Maybe I should go back to the Keep. No disgusting darkness there at least.

Man everyone kept saying the late-game in this was great, I didn't care for most of it. From a visual standpoint the areas towards the end were nice, but
Drangleic Castle
was the last area I truly enjoyed playing through.
Shrine of Amana, Undead Crypt, Dragons Aerie/Shrine, and the Memories
, all were kind of a drag to play through from a gameplay perspective.

did someone find out what are the best armor sets in the game yet.

For 29 vit + 3rd dragon ring it's Drakekeeper armor imo. Yields the best defense while staying under 70%. Rather close tho, can't use a heavy weapon AND a great shield. Looks hella stylish on top. Otherwise, it's fashion souls. Just equip what you like and keeps you in fast roll.

Btw, the drakekeeper shield that drops is ridiculous. It may be even better than Defender Shield.

What's in there a greatsword or something not worth it?
Chaos Firestorm

Best way to strengthen the
Scythe of Want
? Does it scale with STR and DEX? It looked so cool, I couldn't pass it up.

Nashandra, while not that tough, has an incredible design (as lot of the other late game bosses). She has a H.R. Giger vibe to it. All of the designs in this game are god-tier.

you need to climb the ladder at the top of this section and roll through the vases full of water. They'll give you mad fire resist ontop od flashsweat and flame quartz. You will make it and back again no sweat.

Thanks for the tip, this totally worked (just barely)!

Yeah, mashing on the A button as the chest was opening was damn tense. I just barely managed to grab the item before dying. In fact, it was so close that I didn't see what item I actually got after all those deaths trying.

before opening the chest, you can also just chuck an estus flask. On the way there you can also use an elizabeth mushroom to almost negate any damage. But yeah, the vases are the key factor here.

Yeah, I tried an Estus Flask chug on a previous attempt and died mid-way through it, which made me nervous about doing it again. With the right timing, that's probably the safer route, though.

Platinum get!

Took me 80:20 mins.
62 of those was the first playthrough.
Ng+ took me just under 17 hours
Ng++ up to the castle took me about an hour ish. But I had my fill by then so I deleted the patches. quick run through to harvest valley for the branch. Then bypassed shrine of winter with some slick jumping. Only bosses i fought was the
skeleton lords
and
Dragonrider

My final stats were:

Loved it and is the perfect way to retire my Ps3 for now.

361 deaths. Most involved not looking where I was going.

I agree about everything other than
Undead Crypt.

Which I probably only liked because it was relatively simple.

The Memories
are pretty neat from purely a changing up the gameplay perspective.

So remember when I was telling you guys how awesome the sprinting light attack with The Washing Pole was? Uh, yeah, it's pretty much really stupid in lag.

iZO7DDmBIC8kV.gif
That's really nothing. Uchis in Demon's Souls had more phantom range than this and were shorter, and mirdan hammers (and other poles) and claymores were even worse.

The lag is still a problem with PvP and probably will be for all eternity; especially with the ease that you can be stun-locked into oblivion. It's a shame, really. Whenever I get a backstab, I can't help but think how incongruent it would have looked on their screen half the time, just as it does on mine when I'm the victim.

This is what i also did for some of the bosses in NG+. And getting another player to join as well, its not that hard indeed.

If it's not a greatsword or a whip it can stay on that lava till it melts. I'm more interested in souls so I can by greatbow arrows instead.
There's a way to jump down and skip like 3/4ths of the run, so it's worth it. It's a good Pyromancy!
Ganking in Iron Keep? Sad.

Hey, I did my fair share of ladle pvping and later switched to Moonlight Butterfly Armor with a whip. While it is incredibly douchey to gank, I tried to make it as minimal as possible and I took no pleasure in doing it.

I just got to the Dragon Aerie and was shocked to find dragons flying around all over the place. Was that picture showing no dragons in the area from the "Oh no the graphics!" thread just bullshit? Like, were people straight up lying about it? That's pretty upsetting.

Still not bothered pyromancy isn't as fun as a claymore or a great bow is really to me.

I'm a mainly melee build with a bow on the side, but I still find Pyromancy extremely useful. Besides, the entry barrier for it isn't that bad to just use it, but to get really high damage off it you'll need to level some stuff a bit.

I don't remember if people said the dragons were gone. If they did, they probably complained because there were a lot more dragons flying around the bridge (and one that could kill you) in the preview build that aren't in the final build. I even saw a dragon in that gif people always link.

So, are we all in agreement that those goddamn triple Halberd spins are OP?

Spin to win, indeed.

In PvE maybe. In PvP it's complete shit. It's too predictable and easily blockable. If you rely on it a lot, you'll just get burnt.

Speaking of PvP, the Avelyn crossbow is hilarious in PvP when upgraded. It fires three fast bolts and is pretty powerful. The downside is that once you fire, you're open for a few seconds. Some people can predict it and block it too. But if you can surprise people with it, it's awesome.

It requires 25 Strength so it's nice for a Strength build. Str builds are awesome though. Powerful in PvE, and in PvP I can use Havel's greatshield for 45 strength with ridiculously good resists. Infuse that shit with magic, then laugh at mages. The Avelyn can be used to surprise mages too.

Mastodon Greatsword is a great strength weapon in PvP too. It scales A in Strength. The Halberd is powerful in PvE, but not so good in PvP.

Playing smart, I just tear people apart in PvP. Strength build is too good. I love the guard break action too.

Dude shouldn't be running anyways. I never heal myself, so I punish people with Avelyn when they run away and do it. One guy ran away further in and was healing himself with that Pyromancy spell and I took him down with the Avelyn.

Never heal, yeah, I'd rather take the death than heal. Makes me sad when people do so, and totally breaks the pacing of the fight. I do get some easy punishes, but when people run away and hide behind enemies, I find it lame.
