Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

I'm not sure most of SmashFans all over the world would be able to survive if he was done revealing veterans

Correction! I'm pretty sure that I would survive without veterans for long time. I can imagine that Sakurai want to save the veterans for reveals when we are very close to release date like three characters per months just exactly same as Sakurai did for Melee and Brawl.

I'm kind of curious if they'll do a Luigi's Mansion stage for the Wii U version. It is inevitable that we'll get something like Evershade Valley in the 3DS version. They could always do a throwback to the first one.

I just hope it isn't as bland and uninspiring as the Wii version.

I bet it will be the Hypernova that will debut in Kirby Triple Deluxe.

"Will debut"?

The games been out for a while in Japan.

That would also be an unprecedented bad timing for the reveals we had: what would they show from now till November?

Levels, how the levels work, game mechanics, more shots of characters laying down, maybe info on game modes such as story/adventure mode, online and maybe classic mode, items, final smashes, Luigi nose, character movesets. There's a lot that Sakurai could drag out and show.

Pit gets Upperdash Arm and Guardian Orbitars added to his moves.

Zelda gets a Phantom added to her moves in some capacity.

Luigi gets the Poltergust as a new Final Smash.

Ganondorf will still be a Captain Falcon clone.

Those would do wonders for their pre-launch marketing. In the end we all know the new and returning characters are the main attire of the game. Imagine if they didn't show any characters from now till launch, the hype would deflate completely.

Except Waluigi was already shown as an AT, tomorrow will bring the Fierce Deity as Link's Final Smash
At least that'd make him different from Toon Link

Link has some pretty sweet options if you want to talk possible transformation final smashes. Fiece Deity, as you mentioned. He could go wolf form and tear it up. Or he could temporarily gain access to a host of traditional powerups - Pegasus Boots, Power Bracelet, Magic Armor, etc. I am sure there are other cool options, too. Or he could keep doing the triforce sword attack... :|

Quick edit: Also, does Link have a fishing rod taunt already? Because ultimate taunt material, right there.

Well we should be getting a Direct in April, so a newcomer is possible. Then there is E3 in June. So we'd get some characters still.

People liked Negative Zone?

I mean, it was okay, but the Poltergust is a waaaay cooler idea I think.

Also let's keep in mind that we've gone longer than this without a character before (I think). It just so happened that this time the gap took one calendar month. Wasn't Sonic to Marth reeeeeally long?

The total randomness of Negative Zone was funny, but I don't mind it being swapped out, as Polturgust feels truer to the character, and is a good compromise between keeping his moveset the same, and completely changing it around the Polturgust

To anyone who has played Kid Icarus Uprising, I think that was a turning point for sakurai. Maybe it started with brawl, but Kid Icarus Uprising is when he finally learned how to stay 100% faithful to a character's origins while adding something new and refreshing. The point that cemented this in stone was his representation of megaman in smash 4. Megaman is 100% true to his 8-bit counterpart, all while being in 3D and HD.

Poultergust as a final smash means he's making Luigi true to his game world, as well.

I expect to see less clones (looking at you ganondorf), more unique final smashes, and movesets that more accurately reflect the game world they come from. Heck, even the 'Smash Bros' Items all sport the smash bros logo on them somehow, to let you know they belong to smash bros and only smash bros, and don't come from some game (Like the home run bat is from Smash, not from earthbound).

The only oroblem with this is that Toon Link seems largely unchanged

I liked negative zone for how ridiculous it was, I've never liked Luigi in Smash Bros until Brawl mostly due to his final smash (and that one taunt). While his new final smash makes more sense for Luigi, it doesn't do anything for me personally.

He's still true to wind waker, though. We still don't know what his final smash is. Same with normal link. Hopefully their final smashes are actually something they do in the Zelda universe. Toon Link should and could have the hurricane spin. He could also use Ballad of Gales to summon tornadoes. Adult link could drink the 'Great Fairy's Tears' and gain an attack bonus and restore health, or use the ball and chain from twilight princess, or something else representative of his lore. We also havent seen either character's Side B yet. No boomerangs at all from any picture of the day. Those, too, could have changed. Maybe toon link's side B is the Deku Leaf, and it blows you away similar to how the Fludd Works.

If Sakurai is aggressively changing final smashes, I kind of want to get rid of Giga Bowser.

He's a Smash creation. Bowser does get super big, but he doesn't become a reject from Heavy Metal. Give him his Clown Blimp or make him giant Dry Bowser or his Meteor Smashing powers from Galaxy. Do something that makes the herculean effort of Bowser actually getting to the Smash ball worth it in fanservice.

Hey Sakurai you are obliged to give me something on my birthday this April 5!

It was neat though, during Dojo update, Wolf came out during my birthday (Brawl has been released by then)!
Wait, how old are you...?

Looking in the distance, DK is getting hit. I wonder by who?
It clearly isn't Ridley
DK isn't getting hit by anything, he's doing his Down-B from what I can see.

You guys are really good at guessing the future. I recall someone getting Lumiose right.
I'm assuming it was tonyh24613.

Final Smashes that need to be changed

They are not actual things from their actual games:

Mario
Link
Toon Link
Peach
Bowser
Jigglypuff (unless 'puff up' is an actual move in pokemon that I've never heard of)
Lucario (aura storm isnt a real pokemon move, is it?)
Metaknight (correct me if i'm wrong, but he never uses 'galaxia darkness' in his games)

Could use other final smashes:

Ness (Ness never learns starstorm! Actually, most of his PK moves are very off!)
Pit (After KI:U there are much better Final smashes he could have)
Ice Climbers (Summoning a giant mountain of ice isn't something they actually do)
King Dedede (While he owns an army of waddle dees, there are more creative final smashes he could have)

Except Waluigi was already shown as an AT, tomorrow will bring the Fierce Deity as Link's Final Smash

Link's Final Smash was my favorite in Brawl, so hopefully they don't change it too much. Perhaps have Link change into Fierce Deity Link and allow him to do more powerful A attacks, but if he presses B then it'll do the Final Smash from Brawl? But if it misses, then it'll transform him back.

I rarely toot my own horn, but this is actually a great idea!

Link's final smash was kind of strange because it had no relation to anything he did in the games.

I really hope it's his
final boss edition
skyward strike now.

Doesn't his final smash mirror his special ability in Double Dash? I guess you said their actual games, but if Kart isn't Mario's game, whose is it?

Oh man, what if everyone has 2 final smashes! Maybe final smashes would be actually good this time. There'd also need to be a way to get them without items, too. Maybe like Ultras in SF4, where if you're over 120% or something you get one. Might be bad though. It would need a lot of testing to figure out a fair way to get final smashes in normal competitive play without them being over powered.

Final Smashes that need to be changed

They are not actual things from their actual games:

Mario Maybe a Mega Mushroom?
Link
Toon Link Maybe something involving the Wind Waker? Maybe creating winds that push the opponents in a particular direction?
Peach
Bowser Keep it as it is. Giga Bowser is cool.
Jigglypuff (unless 'puff up' is an actual move in pokemon that I've never heard of) Maybe Dazzling Gleam or Disarming Voice?
Lucario (aura storm isnt a real pokemon move, is it?)
Metaknight (correct me if i'm wrong, but he never uses 'galaxia darkness' in his games)

Could use other final smashes:

Ness (Ness never learns starstorm! Actually, most of his PK moves are very off!) PK Rockin'?
Pit (After KI:U there are much better Final smashes he could have) The Great Sacred Treasure?
Ice Climbers (Summoning a giant mountain of ice isn't something they actually do) They also don't throw or breathe ice. May as well keep it.
King Dedede (While he owns an army of waddle dees, there are more creative final smashes he could have)

My thoughts are bolded and underlined.

Donkey Kong's was definitely the strangest. Who even gives a shit about Donkey Konga? Why the hell was his final smash not just Snake's but with barrels instead of grenades while the arcade Donkey Kong music played?

Because that's Cranky Kong, so they're saving that for Smash 5 when he becomes a newcomer.
