The dual
dragonrider
fight is one of the safest to max out your sunlight medals, I've found. The fight's over in like 30 seconds and the host isn't at risk of being insta killed.

Tried to help some people with the A
ncient Dragon
.. terrible idea.

That said I beat him and
Vendrick
for the first time. That first fight is silly. If you misjudge that one AOE even slightly it's game over.

I really liked the
Vendrick
fight. Surprisingly so. It took me 3 - 4 tries so it wasn't insanely hard or anything, but it felt like a fair challenge and I liked the sparse music.

Went into NG+ for the first time. Liking all of the changes already. I'm really happy they decided to change things up for NG+ this time around. Big improvement.

For NG+, I really think it's scary how small a wait I'll be summoned. I mean I am sometimes summoned literally the moment I place down my summon sign. I love it.

Only been invaded once so far. Was such a lagy battle. I was killed, and then 30 seconds later the guy "killed" me again. And then 20 seconds later, he died from an attack I did early on. lol...

I hope to be invaded more often. I've never really stood in one place that often yet, or I just been co-oping, so haven't really given many a chance to invade me. I think I'll use that item to open up more invasions later on before I move onto NG++

Yeah, it is awesome. I helped so many people beat T
he
L
ost
S
inner
last night. I was shocked at how fast I would get summoned, it was usually instant. I'm SL135, so just fyi, that place is insanely active right now. I'm sitting on like 800k souls from co-oping just in that area.

That's a good idea. Might go back there to help others. I love that I'll be summoned instantly, but don't like that summon signs don't really show up for me that much. That boss and
Freja
didn't show me much in summons on ground. I'd still be summoned instantly though..

I'd likely take it as a supply and demand thing. For areas like that, there must be fewer supply of summons, so they get used up quickly by the bigger demand, leading you to seeing one or 2 before they are instantly taken up by others.

I'm lv 222 or so now with about 7+ million SM, really love the no Soul Memory limit now.

Where am I supposed to find titanite slabs? I've been farming these statues for hours and no slabs have dropped. I've gotn +item discovery on too.

For the achievement...
For me it popped after I spent 14,000 on infusions in one shot and then immediately talked to him without leaving his menu.

Aw, I really don't want to keep blowing money on infusions considering I barely use elemental weapons and stones are limited =/

Clergy in Brightstone Cove They have no health and the hardest part is more getting Benhart there in one piece.

Lucy's armor is by far the hardest to get in the game since, as many mentioned,
she is paired with all the hard bosses minus The Rotten.

Thanks!

Is there any benefit to killing the Smolder Demon? I want to boost the area to try and get a black steel katana and for the life of me I cannot kill him.

I really want to know where to get titanite slabs. Why aren't the stupid statues dropping them? Do they even drop from these guys, am I doing something wrong?

Fixed because her armor is incredibly easy to get, just kill her and buy from Melentia. Her full quest line and as a result her trophy (with the added benefit of her willingly giving you her armor) is the difficult part. :P

Seriously am I doing something wrong here? I've been farming these statues for fucking hours and they dont drop. Wtf am I doing wrong? They should be easily farmable. Did the patch change it so they dont drop?

What's that mean?

In normal NG playthrough, your co-op / invasion with others was limited to your Soul Memory. Soul Memory, is all souls you acquired. This means any souls gotten, no matter if used for level up, buying or even lost. The game tries to pair you up with others near your SM. So, that means if you are at the end of the game, likely you will be unable to co-op with someone who is new to the game. It's something small or so, and rather annoying.

Whoops, killed the Manscorpion. Hope he's not important.

He gives you a
fragrant branch of yor after defeating the boss in that area.
I don't know how many of those are in the game, but I do know at least one of the areas that are blocked in that area can be accessed without
removing the statue.

This is fucking stupid obviously im doing something and it frustrates me that nobody has an answer. Did the patch change it so titanite slabs no longer drop from the stone statues in the castle? I'm watching a video and he gets 3 in minutes. Wtf is going on here?

thanks for that info, now I know why I can't help people in early levels like no man's wharf

I have no idea, but noticed I haven't been getting as many either. Hope they didn't. For once, upgrading isn't a chore (in terms of farming) but something fully integrated into the game.

How do you summon NPCs for bosses ? I'm pretty far into the game and I still don't know how. I've summoned plenty of players though.

They are a gold sign just like players except the name will be of the NPC.

If a NPC summon dies you can either die, or use a homeward bone. You can then summon them again until they live through the boss fight. Did it with Smelter Demon and still got her stuff and the trophy.

Thnaks dude, phew i'll try again later. Also NG+ is HARD , i got killed right as it started it thx to the bunch assholes that spawn right outside where you wake up lol.

So I get a guy into my game. We make it all the way to the chariot boss, and then he immediatly runs to the right and off the cliff! WTF. I laughed but then I totally was caught off guard and died.

Do wooden chests really break if you attack them and they're not mimics?

Not thrilled with being punished with instadeath for opening a mimic chest if it is the case.

Earthen Peak
reminds me a lot of Sen's Funhouse. Couple of questions about the area

1) How do you open the metal gate near the arrow trap?
2) What does
burning the windmill
do?
3) Does the Pharros Contraption do anything?
4) How do you get to the loot at the top, across a gap?

I farmed 11 slabs in less than an hour even after the patch. I think. When was the patch? I've gotten every patch the day it came out and I did this farming 3 days ago. Hope that helps.

LOL I did the same thing and killed the man scorpion. After spoiling myself like a dumbass I knew the boss was a scropion, so I saw him down there and thought, "I'm gonna be slick and hit him with a toxic cloud, and then I realized the mistake I made lol

good news is there are enough fragrant branches to get all the best stuff, but the one behind the petrified enemy in that area is a really good, light set of armor that I'm glad I came back for.

Level design got more interesting and varied but the actual world design definitely suffers.

Agree with magic miracles and pyro being op as always. I got invaded at belfry sol and was getting clipped by spells I clearly dodged. And there are people in the dark souls 2 community crying that sorcery is nerfed and underpowered? Loooooool. Give me a break. Whenever I summon a sorcer for a boss fight he deals hundreds of damage points In one spell

Only answering your first question.

You can hit a wooden chest exactly THREE times. Doesn't matter what the strength of the attack is. You get three hits before you break it. Mimics will get up after 1 hit, so you're good there.

However, ENEMIES can one shot wooden chests, so always be careful. I've had two chests the entire game break due to enemies being douchebags.

Those 3 deaths for nothing :(

Well, I dont know what the fuck I'm doing wrong then. I have gotten ZERO, and I've been farming for over 8 hours now.

Wearing Gold Covetous+1 and either Traveler's Hat/Jester's?

But how do I know if it's an NPC or a player without having a list of summonable NPCs beforehand ?

NPC summons are pretty much always multi-word and sometimes have titles.

Examples: Lucatiel of Mirrah, Benhart of Jugo, Felicia the Brave (I may or may not be making this one up, but you get the idea).

If you're asking about Sunbro NPCs specifically, I can't think of a single one off the top of my head.

for me it was
Iron Keep
, I died a lot after the optional boss, donatello-bros & alonne-bros where hard until I made things with patience, mostly luring from afar one by one, taking it slow, just as I did with sen's fortress

The guys near the first bonfire, or in the long hallway at the end of the area? I just got a few last night at the latter. Weren't you the same guy that couldn't find the Blacksteel Katana too...? This game has it out for you.

yeah the one with the doors that have guys in them.

Am I at the wrong area.

No idea, but farming the Slabs has always been a long, unpleasant process (e.g. Pure Bladestone from DeS still haunts my dreams). But if you need a Titanite Slab quickly, just use a bonfire ascetic on
"Prowling Magus, and Congregation". They always drop a Slab when defeated and
the boss is a pushover even on NG++(...).

1) There's a lever on the other side of it. (Oddly enough, my first time through and this door was open.)

2)
Removes all the poison pools from the area as well as the boss arena. It's pretty much something you have to do.

3)
IT'S A TRAP! I don't think it does anything other than spit poison at you.

4) Be more specific.

So I haven't gotten to him yet, but am I to understand that the A
ncient
D
ragon
is a boss in the same sense that Hawkeye Gough was a boss in Dark Souls 1?

I felt the same way about the original Dark Souls.

Boletaria remains the only world that actually makes sense. It actually looks like it was once inhabited. Once you get out of Undead Burg or Majula, the world gets ridiculous.

Lordran makes a ton more sense than Boletaria.

For starters, where is Tower of Latria with respect to the Valley of Defilement? The Lordran visitor can answer the equivalent question for all except three areas (Undead Asylum (which is to the north anyway), Kiln and Painted World). Mostly because the answer is always "under" or "above".

Dark is organized pretty logically, and the player can have a mental model of it super easily. The Secret Logic behind Lordran is: the higher levels are closing the entrance from the lower levels. Because fuck the lower levels. The pimpiest inhabitant of Lordran is Seath, who is hidden in an inaccessible castle/cave even above Anor Londo. The whole world is designed to protect itself from the bed of chaos and its demons, and there are several barriers and guardians protecting it from escaping from the very bottom of the world (for further punishment, Bed of Chaos is even under Lost Izalith).

Boletaria is just a bunch of non connected areas. There is no Secret Logic to it.
