Fighting Games Weekly | March 30 - April 6 | High Speed Korean Downloads

What do you mean? It's sort of accomplished by the FGW archive itself, which lists who was interviewed each week with a link to the thread.
It would be nice to be able to look it up by player.

Condiment tier list earlier cracked me up. BBQ sauce is high A tier btw.

That said, it's looking to be an exciting season for everyone this year. I'm so excited for CEO after seeing the Smashboards stuff earlier today.
BBQ sauce is bad.

you can't even beat your own dick, how you gonna beat me or panda in anything

That's fucking real cute keep it coming. I'm on my phone so I can't go in yet so keep uhm coming cause you know when I get my chance I aint pulling shit you ugly ass gollem looking nig***.

Taking lines from the wire though I like that, but be more original next time.

You have to make your way through the ranks to get to me.

What cause I went away for a year you think I fell off? Like I never did nothing? Who am I? Dr. Dre? What.. wait a minute let me guess I'm washed up right?

I hope people actually test the new stuff, since Ultra will probably be gold by then (it will be released in the arcades in a few days)

Talking about that, we don't have a date yet right?

Thats really sad.

Not really? Costco dogs are 1.50 and pretty damn good. Always awesome to get good food and cheap prices. You have to be one helluva snob to hate on them.

Anyway, a major is any, once a year event to me. A regional would be one that covers a large area or possibly multiple ones and can overlap with a major. It has nothing to do with numbers to me.

We had Professor Beef and ProfessorCurry post in this thread. Can we combine them into Professor BeefCurry?

...it was from The Wire? Well I'll be damned, I've never even seen it.

I refuse.

Stunfest is up for me next. It is a very large French tournament with a long history of attracting top players from around the world. Justin Wong will be there! I will hound him for Rufus advice.

OMG this is some next level shit

Pretty sure this would've been banned at Final Round.

The ruling that Shinblank and co. made was that on a regular stick (that has the actual joystick for moving) adding directional inputs to button is illegal. Hitbox avoids this because there is no actual stick.

But I like Beef Curry ;_;

Anyway, I'm probably not going to Sega Cup this year. It's hard to justify the cost for me with NWM the following week. I'd rather use the cash I'd be spending going to SoCal to make the local major an even better one. I'm also pretty out of practice and haven't touched the game since my session with soakrates and the NorCal folks back in December at Capcom Cup. No one to play with regularly offline either. >=(

Which is a dumb rule IMO. A button's a button, who cares what shape/size it is or what part of your body is pressing it. Or if you're combining features of different controller archetypes.

I can't find a pic, but on The Break a while back there was a Tekken player who used a custom controller: Half of a dualshock on the left (for d-pad inputs) and arcade-style buttons on the right. I suppose that controller would have been banned at Final Round by Shinblanka's reasoning.

Yup. Spotted it at Apex 2013 ... was pretty impressed.

No lie I would actually use this. This would be really helpful for me.

Will get banned on the spot though.

And according to some people that Dual Shock itself will get banned. It has 6 face buttons.

I think those might be screws to hold the dualshock down.

Anyway I definitely see the appeal of this. Tekken is the only game that I play on pad where I'll use the fingers on my right hand instead of my thumb when I'm hitting the face buttons.

The tekken pad thing is cool, but I don't have a problem just binding to the shoulder buttons. It seems like its an accepted practice and I'm too old to care now anyway.

So I was trying to find some videos of matches with Guy cause I thought I might like to give him a whirl.
Found a match from SCR with Lumina1re vs Infiltration.

I believe that Planet Zero was still running Texas Showdown when Bathroomgate happened. However, it took place at an anime convention (Anime Matsuri, or something) and not at Planet Zero itself. That was the last year Planet Zero ran it, since they went under later that year.

Also, IIRC, no matches were actually played in the bathroom. The MK community was making a point about there being a lack of working outlets at the venue, I think. (16 bit can correct me on this though.)

At last year's Texas Showdown, the big controversy was the collusion between Chris G and Justin Wong, where they played a random select match in Marvel grand finals.

yep.though the bathroom outlets actually worked more often vs other options available. the big thing was that there were constant power outages during the tournament. idk if it was how they set up the power strips (there was a huge lack of power outlets in general so i think they ended up daisy chaining a bunch?) but i'm pretty sure it was because nowhere else in the convention had power issues.

tx showdown 2012 is tied in my mind as the worst tournament i've ever been to.. the other one was outdoors during the winter, where literal icicles were growing on sticks by the end. the biggest thing is that ultimately it was both a sham and somewhat of a scam by planet zero. i could go more into this but i'd imagine folks aren't too interested.
i actually felt bad for one of the texas showdown dudes during this one because it was clear he wanted to keep running the tourney but didn't really have the means to.

tx showdown 2013 was alright- definitely a vast improvement over planet zero (if ya'll don't know about planet zero... haha, oh man), but they ran too late imo. it ran until like 2am monday for whatever reason that i can't recall but they had casuals anyways so i got to ignore most of it and play vs folks haha. the collusion grand finals made me pretty mad too and you can hear me in the vods shouting 'pick your shit!' after they did it. though a lot of people don't know that some folks in the crowd were actually asking for random selects so they probably thought they were pleasin' the crowd with their pick

How?

It has the dpad, and the face buttons wired to the arcade buttons. How would that hold ground to be banned?

Shinblanka's reason for banning Full Schedule's stick at FR was that it combined features of an arcade stick and a hitbox. He said on OBS that there should be separate rules for arcade sticks, hitboxes, and gamepads and that they shouldn't be combined.

Well, thank god Shinblanka runs only one (and a third) of all the FGC tournaments out there and doesn't speak for every TO in the NA scene, because that's a pretty stupid reason to ban hybrid controllers. I thought the reason behind the ban was because two directional inputs were programmed to a single button (which would hold some water as a reason to ban it from your tournament).

The controller posted above is not new. I remember seeing it at least a year ago on the SRK Tech forums, and basically has the same features as a Madcatz SFxT Pad, just with bigger buttons. Slippery slope, S. Blanka.

At least people like Keits and IFC Yipes don't mind and will let stuff rock.

From what Shinblanka said on OBS, it didn't sound like he cared at all about two directional inputs being mapped to a button. It was just because it was a hybrid controller.

What did Yipes say? I missed that.

He invited Full Schedule to Curly Mustache South, and stated that he can use his old controller on the invitation list.

I dunno, it bothers me that a TO (of a very big FG tourney) is banning a controller with such limited knowledge about the situation. It's borderline close to being told at a shitty anime convention tournament that you can't use your regular fightstick because it gives you an "advantage" over the poor cosplayer casuals.

He said it would be legal at the next Curleh, because the more cheap shit the better.

It's a slippery slope in allowing it, too, if not a worse one. Just say someone maps Down and Forward to a button. All they have to do is double tap that, and hit a punch button, they get a DP and can virtually never miss it. Double tapping a button is 10x easier than an SRK motion on a stick (an input that people drop in tense situations). That's the reason I don't like it.
