Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Prolonging the end of the game - literally having only
Nashandra
left to fight - cuz I have anxiety over maybe missing some secrets/items/weapons/spells etc in the first playthrough. Need to slap this "100% everything first before moving on" mentality out of me, urghhh.

I'm the same way lol.

Just lost about a million in souls in NG++ because I got overconfident. LOL

What happened?

You can still do stuff after that fight. So don't worry about going straight into NG+ after that boss fight.

It's one of their best design decisions with this game. And not only that, but
shops also get small upgrades after the fight.

Story question: Is
Nashandra the queen in true form?

The trophies seems pretty easy this time around, have most of them. Also I'm thinking of going back to Dark souls 1 and getting the platinum i dunno seems pretty hardcore compared to DS2.

That appears to be the case.
Based on the description of the weapons obtained using her boss soul, she appears to have been created from a shard of the abyss.

Personally, I think the DS2 platinum is worse than the DS1 platinum. Collecting all the spells is kind of annoying, since it requires either doing covenant stuff or buying certain spells on NG++.

Is it worth infusing with lightning or fire if I have a pure dex build? I remember reading that the elemental damage scales with INT and FTH in this game.

What happened?

Trying to run though bosses as quickly as possible to get to Drangleic.
At Earthen Peak, mistimed a roll and got killed by Mythra.
Sprinted back to the boss gate from the 2nd bonfire. The two desert sorceresses shot a fireball into my face killing me in one shot.

I should read up more on the story - it seems really interesting.

Ah basically just rushing through. This game punishes for that all the time lol.

Yeah, I'm starting to regret going for platinum. Getting Hidden Weapon and Sun Medals is really annoying.

Just for future reference,
there's a hidden bonfire on the little balcony area above where the boss door is.

Story related: So... the gist, in chronological order, is that
in no specific time period, Vendrick met Nashandra whom convinced him to kill off the giants and use their powers/souls(?) to build Drangleic. Vendrick made Nashandra his queen and, at some point, he felt something ominous and dark about Her soon after. His suspicions lead him to lock himself in the Undead Crypt to keep away from her. Right?

So the question is...I know that
Nashandra is made from a shard of Manus, Father of the Abyss, but why did she show up now? I mean, in DS1, we had to go back in time in order to stop the miasma, which is the first and last time we see Manus. I hear that the story takes place 2000 years later after DS1, and evidently even longer with the time-traveling Oolacile period included... so why now? And just a shard? Does that mean there are several more creatures created from Manus?

Also, I don't recall
important, story-driven Giants (besides Gwyn) being in DS1. Isn't that more of a reference to DeS and Boletaria?
Why do they have such a centerpiece role here?

Holy crap, NG+ spoilers.

When heading down into Crystal Cove Tseldora for the first time, and Freja pops up outside of the first spider door... Scared the crap out of me. I had no idea what was going on. If I'd been more prepared, I wonder if I could've killed her there...

Quick question, once the last boss is defeated. Does NG+ start after the end cutscene like in Dark Souls 1?

I have a feeling I'm not too far from the end now. So I'd like to know in advance. Thanks.

I know there is, I just don't like using that one to get to the boss. When you spawn you get a shit ton of enemies all rushing for you all at once.

Everything seems about right except
I don't understand why he would lock himself. Vendrick didn't seem like the type to run.

Yep.
She's actually born of a piece of Manus, formerly the Furtive Pygmy, himself.

That is pretty cool. We may get some more of that in DLC.

No, you have to sit down at Majula's bonfire and choose to start the next cycle.

How do you unlock the chained door in Aldia's Keep?
You'll have to be a be a bit creative with this one, it's not opened with a key. Read below if you really don't wan't to try and figure it out.

SPOILER:
Lure one of the big hippoclops guys there and get him to smash it open.

Anything of worth inside? Like a spell or something?

I gave Rosabeth the complete Desert Sorceress set.. >.>

Anyways.. I noticed that the L
ost
S
inner
boss is a good place to rank up in souls. Starting at the bottom of the elevator, I'd get like 75k Souls in NG+ easily each run. Only issue is half the time I either die or host would die. Would help so much if the hosts would light the fires. Makes it harder to track on the boss and extras.

I also reset my stats again. I'm at like 230ish and decided to up my Faith to 80 and bump my Intelligence down to 35. As well as some other slight modifications. Ends up giving me little extra fire bonus too. Lightning now deals quite a bit of damage, and it already did so before. Currently going to focus on bringing my Vitality up to 20 (at 17 now) so that I'm always under 30%.

I know some here are keeping their levels at a certain set maxed, like 125 or 150, etc. Either for PVP or for their own amusement in trying to make it more challenging. Is anyone else doing what I'm doing? And just leveling up as far as I can go? Obviously in stats you'd use or become useful. Unlike 50 hours ago (I'm like 120 hours in now), if I lose 100,000 souls, I really don't mind as much. Though I like leveling up to get a better build, I don't truely need more levels. Plus 100k is like 5 minutes work. :lol

can i buy that set anywhere?

Started a glass cannon sorcerer, pretty fun so far. Got through The forest of fallen giants, Tower of flame, no mans wharf, and halfway through bastille (beat sentinels). I have no clue how I am gonna tackle the gargoyles just yet. I don't think my magic can take one of them out fast enough before all 5 swam me, but we shall see tomorrow if my hypothesis is wrong.

I think you can only get it from the Earthen Peak ladies. If you use the Jester's hat & Gold ring + 2, they drop fairly easily. I have like extras now. lol

Compared to my current near maxed set of Black set, those stats of Desert Sorceress, though slightly worse, are pretty decent comparably.

Do you really? I've generally used that bonfire and never had any issues. I just drop down on the two spear guys and roll through their attack to get to the door. Those are the only two enemies that will try and attack me.

I just read up on that one boss being able to summon invaders. That's just cruel and unusual punishment. I need to try that out. :lol

Will have to attempt this with my White Ring..

Where is this door - I'm not sure if I saw it or not.

is that the boobs armor? like half the people invading or joining my game have that armor on

he was going hollow. He was scared he would not be able to keep nashandra apart from the throne of want if this happened so he set it up so the throne was behind a door opened with his ring. He left his soul behind and left Vestaldt to protect his corpse and ring.

I hate the evil person that put the little hole of lava into the back of this Iron King boss fight platform.

Oh man, pushed into it so many times. It's great.

I'm going to give the Ancient Dragon one more good attempt. Not too concerned with Darklurker, anymore. I would have to farm Effigy and I don't care to do that right now.

Win or lose, I'm starting NG+ tonight (after work). This playthrough will be all about the storyline. I'm going to read every single bit of lore I can. Every soul collected, every weapon and item. I'm even going to take notes.

Really explore the surroundings, and take in this massive game.

On e

p
eak
there is a spot where
one of the big dudes that fires dark orbs breaks through a wall if you get close enough.
is there a way to break the wall behind him? It looks like there are items there but he doesnt seem to break it

Ok this will sound stupid, but are ng++ souls the same as ng+? As in only the ng souls are different? I ask because I want to use
the rotten
ng+ soul for the crypt greatsword, but I also need that soul for a spell (to get the trophy).
Also, I FINALLY got all the stuff in the fire in
Iron Keep
! Didn't even lose any health!

I've kind of stalled myself out: I only have the final boss and the optional bosses to do now I believe, but I don't want to do the final boss until I've beaten the optional bosses, but all the optional bosses/areas are kicking my ass.

Blah.

Guys, should I buy smelter demon armor? Playing as knight and right now sporting alonne or drangleac

You should. It's got better all around pretection for a little bit of weight. I'm mainly using smelter leggings, NPC
Creighton's
armor (good looking armor, I switch to Smelter armor depending on the enemies) and Dark gauntlets. The best combination I can come up with nice protection while looking good.

Will have to attempt this with my White Ring..

which boss? i didn't encounter any of that and i was online the whole time.

Finally finished the game. Amazing game and a good addition to the Souls series imo. There were actually things I liked better in DS2 than DS1. I had a lot of fun with it and I am still playing it. Quite possibly my GOTY. Going back to power up a little more and to find more items. Should I start on NG+ or just keep leveling up and enhancing my weapons/armor/etc for now since I heard that NG+ is substantially harder? If I start on NG+, I cannot back back to NG with my same stats, right?
