Fuck yeah, got my Ring of Blades +2! Spoilers pertaining to that ring follow:

During the twin Pursuers fight if one of them stabs you with the blue glowy attack it will make the other Pursuer disappear! This made the fight actually possible in my eyes, and you can just visit the nearest bonfire and come back to fight the other one later.

Bug, glitch or whatever, I am super glad it happened!

well shit i fought them together
had no health left and no flasks.

Won by the skin of my teeth.

The you get Joe fenix barehanding them to death like fucking neo

I'm not liking this emerald herald in these videos I'm watching. The maiden black has her eyes waxed shut and she still at least faces you.

This is gonna piss some people off as I'm sure it's been discussed here, but after installing Windows 8 I can't fucking run Dark Souls.

How do I fix this? I've already uninstalled all GFWL programs and reinstalled latest versions.

You need to manually istall GFWL. You can find a guide on internet about that.

Goddamn that video is impressive! I am quite sure I could have done it eventually but it would have taken me ages.

Nashandra
downed and the credits have rolled. All I have left is
Darklurker
, farming souls to stock up on chunks, and then it's off to the magical adventure invasion-fest that is NG+.
Fixed!

I've always said I like being invaded, but walking into Heide's Tower on NG+ I couldn't walk two steps without the fog gates going up. Guys, can I get to the first fucking bonfire already? lol

Actually, thinking about it, they were all blue phantoms, and this after I'd off'ed all the NPCs in NG - I guess that's why?

I have yet to encounter a blue phantom, except for those sentinels when I invaded a few times as a Blood Sis. Then again I have yet to encounter a red invader except exactly twice (and once a black phantom in the Dark Chasm). And I'm pretty far into NG+, as far as the D
ragon
A
erie
.

The real dark souls begins here

The first time I did the fight, I got summoned by someone. We went in with just the 2 of us. I immediately looked up at the boss and started moving to the right...right into the hole haha. That host probably hated me for that.

I did the exact same thing myself. Except I had summoned someone else. Entered the fog and fell in immediately. Other dude probably didnt even make it past the fog before it disconnected him

Been lurking in this thread for quite some time. Loving my faith and str/dex build. Running around with dual maces, dual straight swords (Heide's and Sun Sword with lightning imbue), and miracles.

Oh man D
arklurker
was actually pretty easy. Took a few tries to learn the battle. After he went up for a
laser beam spammed some sun/lightning bolts. Got him to 2% and ran in for a sword kill. Awesome!

I moved onto NG+ at SL150 and I'm finding it a ghost town.... Having to solo mostly every one. Have no problems getting summoned but summoning is a whole other matter.

The PvP is ok. I don't like the new poise system but it's still early so it may change. I find my MLGS build almost cheap though. At SL150 I have 40 health and 60 intelligence and a crystal magic buffed +5 Magic Moonlight Greatsword is ridiculous. Also the projectile is very hard to dodge now and you no longer have to manually aim.

My biggest problem is the game's bosses. They for the most part are completely forgettable. It's sad that I was most excited to see
Ornstein
reappear. None of the bosses felt like legendary beings the way that they did in Dark Souls 1. Still better than 99% of the games out there though.

In Souls games I always have trouble deciding on a weapon. I already spent ton of time researching for DSII and still undecided.
What would you guys suggest for a melee character? Something decently fast AND accessible in the first part of the game. I am now in Heide Tower and use Heide Knight Sword and Fire Longsword. Are these weapons (upgraded ofc) capable of carrying me through the game? If you recommend something, please also say which stats should I pump for it. Now I am 20STR and 11DEX.

If you like melee AND speed without going full dex, pick something more quality-based rather than a huge big ass strength weapon. Best of both worlds.

The longsword is ok. I used the fire longsword you find for so long with my mage character, I think I didn't come across the dull ember for longer than you should so I didn't have a better weapon. It will definately take you through the game, but there are better choices.

atm I'm liking the Bastard Sword and good ol' Claymore on my faith/str mix. I like the balanced moveset of a slash/thrust weapon because you get ranged pokes and arced slashes. The bastard sword has a nice strong overhead on the one handed R2. I think your stats are good for both actually, maybe Claymore is one or two points more. The weapon stats page tells you what they scale with. I think they're both quality though.

That's the required stats for the bastard sword one of the greatswords. Greatswords might pique your interest with things like the claymore or the drangelic sword.

Also, don't sleep on the mace, I used it on and off during the whole game. Good damage, fast and light for a STR weapon, good dual wield moveset.

he was going hollow. He was scared he would not be able to keep nashandra apart from the throne of want if this happened so he set it up so the throne was behind a door opened with his ring. He left his soul behind and left Vestaldt to protect his corpse and ring.

And the
player character happened to help her get there, I assume. What exactly does the throne of want empower with?
In the hallway with the cages hanging from the roof, on the left hand side roughly halfway through. It's big.

Hmm, I doubt I could have miss that, but will check it out. Thanks.

Anyone else feel this game is too long? I mean, I'm at 50 hours and I've still got three areas to go. I feel the fatigue and I have no drive to see it through to the end.

Absolutely not. It's great to play a long, adventurous game again. Felt just like Okami - the adventure was seen to completeness.

Thanks all!
I actually already tried the bastard sword already, but at the moment the damage difference between it and Heide Sword is not big, with bastard using much more stamina. Probably will stick to staightswords.

Another (last :) question: I want to try some spells on this character. Will go into faith (currently 12 for heal, maybe up to 30 in the future). I did not find many offensive miracles for low(ish) faith levels - only Lightning Spear with 22 faith. Should I try it or rather pyromancy?

I'm having some trouble with Benhart, I'm really not sure what happened. I talked to him everywhere before his place behind the Pursuers area, but I decided to kill the T
hrone Watcher/Defender
with him rather than the
Giant
. That was my third boss with him, and then I talked to him outside the Pursuers area, he moved into the
memory
, but is not giving me his equipment. I killed the
Giant
alone, but he still says nothing new to me.

Anyone know what I did wrong? I'm guessing I should have talked to him in the Pursuer area before killing the 3rd boss with him maybe?

You have to kill the last boss woth hos help too. Just doing the 2 before thay isn't enough

Before I start a NG+ does anyone have any recommendations for weapons that are worth swapping boss souls for from either of the two merchants?

I'm primarily a STR build, but I have a fair few points dumped into DEX as well. I could do with a strike weapon mainly.

Or is it just like the last game where most boss souls stuff is junk?

I bought the
ladder ornament

Couldn't help myself :(

Beat the
Earthen Peak
boss in 2, think I might be a overlevelled somehow, even though I've only farmed for levels 5 or so times.

Since there's two bosses that can be in that room, it can be kind of weird. But like Footos said, you have to beat the last boss with him, because the last boss is essentially considered the primary boss of that area. You don't even have to do the boss fight before that with him, you could have just done the final boss and it would count. It's also the same for using a bonfire ascetic. You can only use it for the corresponding bonfire once you beat the last boss.

Have you tried a gyrm great axe it's amazing I've got one on my strength build although I've got to two hand it is worth it for the damage and the scaling is good too.

The boss stuff sucks?

I don’t understand how scaling works with infused weapons.

Upgraded a +10 claymore to magic which gives it a B scaling with intel (C with strength). But when I increase my intel it doesn’t increase the magic damage on it.

Am i missing something?

Currently around 40 str and 27 intel.

You know I've been playing pvp for probably 20 hours worth and I'm just awful at it, I really don't know why the fuck I bother.

grats. did you manage to get summoned at your level for the bells or did you farm them offline?
Thanks! I didn't know you could farm them offline. I kept my character at SL 150 till I reached belfry sol in NG+, then played a very long waiting game. If was frustrating, and about half the encounters players were still pulling their internet cable.
The easiest way to do the bell still feels like low levels, like right after the pursuer.

Haha. Same thing happened to me. Really did make things easier

Finished up NG+ already, it's super quick if you already know where to go! I undoubtedly missed some good stuff from not exploring much, but whatever.

For anyone that has the platinum trophy -
was it easier to collect the 4 great souls or get 3 million(?) souls during that playthrough to open the shrine? I might go do the chariot and kill that dwarf to get his hood that gives bonus souls, and just farm the heck out of NG++.

Wooooo It's Dark Souls 2uesday! The one day of the week I'm off and get to play!! When we last saw my female knight, she had gotten herself into a mess in The Gutter. Along the way, she had stumbled across Grave Of Saints, Doors of Pharros, Shaded Woods and probably other areas I can't recall. It was all a fever dream and playing so sparingly will only add to the surreal quality of my knight's wandering. Mission One: light all the sconces in The Gutter.

Run through to harvest valley get a branch. Then head to shrine of winter.
Delete the patches then do this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXAppqzUUAw
ng++ castle run took me about 40 mins using this.

The jumping is way easier then he makes it out to be. can even do it with patches excpet you wont be able to get passes that bit by the waist high rubble.
I couldnt be bothered to fight all 4 bosses again for a third time.

Deleting patch doesn't mess with the save data?

No everything is fully functional offline. worked perfectly for me.

Actually cos i went digital i had to delete the whole game then redownload it. Was only 5gb but was still quicker then lighting all the primal bonfires again. fast internet ahoy. Quite crazy really that sotc hd is nealry 7gb and this is only 5.

I'm not sure I really want to mess around with that stuff, though it is tempting. I may just respec to something completely different like a dex build, upgrade some katanas, and run around dual wielding everything into oblivion.

Wow, I love the Internet. Pretty interesting that deleting the patches no longer affects the saves.

In the last game, deleting patches messed up the save data. Interesting it doesn't now.

Collecting 4 souls is way easier.

Not to mention fun. I usually play the Souls games for hundreds of hours so it's no big deal.
