Following recent trademarks, Tecmo Koei has confirmed Toukiden Kyoku for PS Vita and PSP in this week’s Famitsu.

The game is an upgraded version of the original Toukdien, and features a new demon called “Imihayahi” that appears three months after the events of the previous game.

The game will feature added equipment, a new NPC character, firearm weapons, more armor and spirits, double the amount of demons, more special moves, and increased customization. The story is about the same as the original game.

Toukiden Kyoku is due out in 2014, and is currently 50 percent complete.

Heh, and I was just considering about buying it after having fun with the demo.

Will wait for this I guess.

They have 24 demons right now, including fucking recolors. That mean they will introduce 12 new demons with another 12 fucking recolors. I hope those recolors worth a damn like Hell's Sentinel and Abyssal Fiend, not like Edax.

Kyoku?

Monster hunting like a boss.

Welp, gonna wait then. This trend of releasing upgraded versions a year later.. eh :/. At least they could make it available as dlc. Seems I'm not ever going to buy a hunting action game on the first launch because this always seems to happen.

Alright, Scher, Shengar, Himiko. See you all there. Not looking forward to redoing story mode, but hopefully Koei gets their heads out of their asses and doesn't cap Mitama advancement with story mode if you've been progressing online.

Still gonna be breaking everything with gauntlets.

Yeah, it seems very common this generation.

Well, when it comes to these upgraded versions, there's generally a lot more content than could reasonably be done with DLC. Personally, as long as the amount of new content is substantive, then I have no issue buying them. Like, MH3U was well worth the price because there was just tons of content in addition to what MH3 had. Based on the article, they make it sound like there's a considerable amount of new content, but I'll be more interested to hear more details.

Oh, consider my interest piqued.

idunno if I should be glad I waited.

If this comes out early 2015 here oh gawd

Early 2015 along with MH4U? That would be very unfortunate for me. I'm going to have to try and write a thesis in the middle of all that if that's the case!

More like, it's the norm for hunting action game. Not very far fetched if I said that hunting action game is the Japanese equivalent of shootbang yearly release. But not all genre followed this kind practice, at least not this generation.

Expected. Game is already packed with content, now they're adding more. Wow.

To be honest, I felt otherwise - I sold it relatively early on because I got sick of fighting the same handful of enemies again and again.

I liked everything else about the game, but it felt just a bit too repetetive and, well... empty to me. The minor enemies were all very bland as well.

Getting the same base game but just way more stuff definitely makes me interested again. I loved the graphical quality (approaching psychedelic color schemes), the animations, the general speed and especially the music. It was definitely a well made game, if it just had more variety.

It always seemed to me like a title that would make a great "G" title - between this and Soul Sacrifice Delta, I´ll gladly pay for upgraded games again.

Oh, and having a firearm sounds great - that´s the one type of weapon I really missed!

yup MH4U. I'm not gonna bat an eye at this game (or any game) if it comes out Q1/2 2015.

This. I'm interested to see what is added but if it is not enough I'm probably just going to skip this.

They also need to fix some of the online bugs in the current version but I doubt that is happening.

Just noticed, but grats on moving up from Junior. I swear you were still a Junior in the Dark Souls II OT yesterday.

If this coming out as early as Q1 2015, then thanks for saving me $70 for CPP and Mh4U :p
I'll get both, but my priority will be the cheapest in price
Also common practice for Capcom and tecmo-koei.
Capcom MH post release support is terrific. Tecmo-Koei? Terrible.

Naginata, the firearm weapons, and the extra 12 demons should be good enough. But adding more substantive content like more varied missions objectives should the top priority.

Oh, huh. I didn't even notice that happened. I was still Junior in the DS2 thread. Thanks, though!

That's kind of what I'm hoping for. I think it would be nice if they just replaced some of the current missions with new demons or different types of objectives.

Seriously, if they keep the whole "story mode locks your mitama progression" bullshit, I'll be sad. I'd much rather be online 100% with you guys the entire way through without us having to break for a few days because "oops, fell too far behind in story mode".

After 120h on the original, I'm not even mad.
I'm not buying the update full priced, though.

If it comes to the West - I hope it does i.i
Has anyone asked about a possible localisation yet? (on twitter or something)

I think he means the updated versions. Goes for Monster Hunter, Street Fighter and Dynasty Warriors (i'm a bit unsure about this one, but i feel i've seen some different versions from the same game).

Yeah, I know. I just want to state the difference between them especially regarding the treatement to their respective hunting action game.

Kinda surprised they are still releasing a PSP version. Would have thought Sony would be trying to get everyone off the PSP by now especially for a game which had great success selling on the Vita.

No, their first was Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce, which went against the traditional expanded re-release for a home console port.

And then was quickly followed by a (JP-only) sequel that was pushed to market a year later.

Guessing Sony wouldn't force something that results in less sales for developers also in this case it was always planned to be a psp version too. Kinda interested to know the PSP sales vs Vita sales. Did it even release outside of Japan on PSP?

Hmmm I've got a huuuuge backlog of games so might just stick with the original depending when I get around to it. Would welcome it as dlc option also though. Demo sold me, hell the initial videos sold me before it was announced for release outside of Japan.

Hmmmmm, just got Toukiden a couple of weeks ago. I've really been enjoying it (it's my favorite hunting game so far!), but there's no way I'm dropping another $40 for a G style upgrade. I would buy it as reasonably priced DLC though.

What I'm guessing is that they'll just do full release in Japan and offer this as DLC at the West.
