So what's the point of dual wielding? I've heard it's supposed to give you new movesets but using these 2 katanas, they both still function exactly the same as if I were 1 handing them. Does it do anything else or should I just equip a shield instead?

Twinkeling Tint. where to get it?

How to farm twinkling and soul vessels. Late-game, though.

You need 1.5 the weapons' requirements to power-stance (holding Y/Triangle activates it) which is the "new moveset" you're talking about.

You do it for the powerstance attacks, and for the flexibility that having two 1hand movesets gives you. I don't think it's great personally.

So, is infusing totally pointless? I've got 40dex/40 faith and made my +5 manslayer infused with poison and it gutted my damage. I've never seen a boss get poisoned, ever. I made my Blacksteel katana lightning infused and it also gutted my damage. I thought infusing was supposed to be decent with faith? I've basically gutted my damage.

No, infusing is good, but not for the weapons that scale really well with say dex. If you got S scaling and got a lot of dex you're better off keeping it non-infused. If you don't have a lot of dex you will do more damage infused. The scaling for faith on lightning is not very good.

Swag.

And some powerstance movesets are better than others. See: cestus, clubs, rapiers, etc.

Then, was there any point for me to have faith? Someone said infusing was really good, but, apparently I'm mistaken, i dunno. What's the point of the infusion system if it severely cripples me?

Whats up with all this multiplayer session cancelled bullshit that I get every time I drop my summon sign? the multiplayer was working great for the first couple hours I used it but since the first time this happened I haven't been able to summon people or be summoned; PS3.

Probably not for the Blacksteel katana. If you want to cast miracles or pyromancy, faith will still help. You might get better damage on your infused weapon if you use the Sunlight Blade miracle as well. If you want to primarily use the blacksteel katana as a physical weapon and not use much magic then yeah, probably not much point.

Just because it doesn't work in every situation doesn't mean it's pointless. If you have a lot of points in STR or DEX and a weapon that scales well with either of those, it's not a good idea. If you have a weapon with little or no scaling, they can be pretty decent.

On the topic of infusing, I read that infusing with, say, fire isn't necessarily as good as it sounds.

On my strength build I had a halberd +10 with something like
350+100 dmg
and fire infusion gave me about
275+40
275+20

So obviously I thought that against any enemies that don't have insane fire resistance that's way better. 610 vs 450. But then I read that the enemy's defense stat would be applied twice because I do 2 separate types of damage. Is this the way it is? I didn't really compare how much damage I did before and after so I don't know if it was worth it or not.

dropped a black dragon sword earlier and it doesnt scale with anything

guess i should infuse it then ?
base damage is pretty high for a longsword

4 or 5 times now I've been summoned as a phantom and as the host walks through the boss fog it's I've been disconnected - as has any other phantom, as they couldn't walk through the fog either. Is this a common bug?

Apparently that dude in aldia keep has two spell if you complete his quest that is necessary for the trophies, guess i'll get around to it in NG+. Kinda fucked now doing it earlier ugh

Aren't you the guy that's been telling everyone to let him loose? I don't think it's a big deal if you're just going for trophies since you'll have all the items right away in NG+ and he's pretty fun to keep fighting.

Where did that come from?

That happens if the hot has already beaten the boss. Troll hosts do that.

It's not a bug the host is walking through a fog gate where he's already killed the boss. I did it a couple times myself in the beginning. Summon-signs show up even when the boss is dead and it confuses people, apparently myself included.

O_o

I'm aghast. From actually put this in the game where a host can walk through an area fog door of a boss they've already killed? Why? That seems like From are in on the trolling.... of their own customers? I've had it happen about 4 times outside the Chariot boss alone and then just now outside Smelter.

smh. More bullshit, as if the loading times weren't long enough, now we have extra ones for nothing at all.

It can certainly be a troll, but it's not necessarily so. The host may genuinely be trying to go to an area past that particular boss arena without being aware that it boots the summons out.

I know that's a problem in the Iron Keep
where The Pursuer appears after you defeat the Smelter Demon
, but the game doesn't allow summons there. I know I thought that was a bug until I looked it up.

Yeah, that's exactly how it works.

Yep, along with
the Vendrick boss fight
at Undead Crypt.

Lol sucks trying to farm sunlight medals when I'm SL 170. At this point it might be faster and funner to just start a whole new character.

Ah, I thought that was gated off to co-op as well, but I wasn't too sure. Cheers!

Indeed it is. The host can only
place a summon sign there outside of the Velstadt arena, so naturally when they try to go through there with summons to get to Vendrick, the others are kicked out.

I had no issue with
Drangleic Castle
end bosses with that level. Where are you trying?

Plus, you could always just go into NG+. You'd get better results.

Constantly getting invaded and 1 shot by people. This is getting annoying. Every single invader is using those OP buffs and spells to basically 1 shot me...

I still haven't been able to log onto to the servers in this game. I'm logged into psn but it won't let me go online for Dark Souls. Any ideas?

I guess I can see that in some circumstances. The blame really is on From, if they wanted online play in areas even after bosses are defeated, they should've implimented it differently. Just another fuck-up to add to the list of DS2.

Ran into a dude in the arena with a full Havel fist build. 90% of fist dudes just walk up to you and start punching, so I parried him immediately. Did the flame swathe/riposte combo and it didn't even do half his life. What in the motherfuck.

Dude just continued to walk/roll up super predictable like. Got a few more parries off but still lost since mistake for him = 5-10% life loss, while a mistake for me is 1/3 of my life. Brute force Havel build OP.

I'm back to the game!
I feel a little lost after 10 days of hiatus.
I just entered Drangleik Castle
Question: do I lose ranks if I quit a covenant?

this dark souls 2.
where you can warp from the start, dont get invaded, can respec and so on.

of course you dont lose your rank, when you switch your covenant.

Keep that
seperation crystal
, and some seeds of the giant handy.

Doesn't too much usage of Seperation Crystal count as sin or ends up banning you from online play for too much usage?

Nevermind. It only works for co-op, doesn't bannish invaders.

Its kinda fun, and the biggest benefit, over just better choice of moveset is being able to hit with two swords at the same time/close to the same time:

I later tried two rapiers...get significant damage incease, but the stamina cost is not the same as one obviously.

Should I do it even then? I'm not very good yet do I'm dying a ton. I've heard some people save them for right before bosses.

That's a good idea if you're dying that much. It'll also make you a better player in the long run since you'll have to concentrate more on minimizing the amount of times you get hit.

You can get a ring like right now that only makes the penalty 25% instead of 50% called Ring of Binding. You just have to be able to kill one knight.

With that, I just save Effigies for bosses.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have 4 right now. Where is that ring?

In Majula, towards the water, on the left is a path leading to Heide's Tower of Flame. You want to run past all the knights (though killing the second one with a hammer gets you a Sublime Bone Dust which you can burn at a bonfire to upgrade your flask's healing) and take a left in the circular area with the three knights. Run past the next two knights, then kill the knight at the end. A lever will come up. Just pull it and a drawbridge will come down. At the end of the bridge is the ring.

Here's a video to help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XwbygNMtFQ

It might take you a few tries, but fighting at 50% health is a much bigger drag.

Pretty early,
No Man's Wharf

It's near the Cathedral of Blue, not No Man's Wharf.

Thanks Soriku. I know what you are talking about. I got to the set of knights past the circle and figured I wasn't strong enough yet to tackle that area.
