Fighting Games Weekly | March 30 - April 6 | High Speed Korean Downloads

The new Desk video is once again making me sad that no Gen even tried to add these fancy stance parries in their game yet. I understand it's quite difficult to pull out, and I don't expect to see it at EVO or in a major (whatever your definition of a major is), but even in casuals I don't recall ever seeing a high-level Gen player try this.

Did you... make sure they were actually people?

Can confirm they were living human beings. All it took was putting the board in a Japanese cab instead of an American one. Same thing got us playing Project Justice too. It did not work for CvS2 though lol

Crazy idea just popped in my head. Lets say USF4 is announced on PS4. EVO decides to buy something like 50+ PS4's to run USF4 pools at EVO. By running the game on PS4, every match can now be recorded. After EVO is finished, you can pay some kind of fee to have access to every single USF4 match at EVO, EVERY SINGLE ONE. That means random dude from Michigan vs random dude from Nebraska or Sako vs Ryan Hart in a match that wasn't shown on stream.

Assuming SF4 numbers continue to grow, we could have 1700+ players. I have absolutely no idea how many matches that would total up to. But if everybody played in the first round with no byes, that would mean a minimum of 1700 matches and a max of 2550(assuming their are exactly 1700 players) in just the first round alone. With thousands more on the way.

Yeah, that will never happen. But it makes me excited about how next gen will help record matches, especially the really good ones that don't make it on the stream. The idea of every single match is pretty bat shit crazy. But every single semi-final match can't be that nutty can it? I'll pay, but I don't know who would want to put in the time to put that together and if it'll be worth it.

^ It's possible, sure, but I wouldn't expect match footage to be well-documented (e.g. recording player names for every match) even if people bothered to save archives.

It's already feasible with the LGP, and some tournaments use it in that fashion for at least some non-streamed stations.

EDIT: Plus, I've heard rumors about how some of these next-gen OS background functions aren't entirely in the "background" like they should be, and actually can cause performance issues in games. I'm not sure if any of those rumors are substantiated, though.

I'm enjoying BBCP's story mode quite a bit :D Then again one of the reasons I like it so much is the English cast. They did a lot better at making it more straight forward this time with the 3 path style they went with.

I figured keeping track of players names shouldn't be too hard if they only concentrate on top 32 or 64. Only the best of the best are left and it's easier to keep track of since you know so few remain out of the 1000+ that the tournament started with(or hundreds when excluding EVO).

As for the OS issue, that's definitely a concern. I don't have a Xbone, does it record like PS4 does? If yes then does KI have any issues? If USF4 on PS4 isn't happening then I guess Guilty Gear Xrd will be the first big fighter on PS4. And if any tournaments run it on PS4 instead of other systems, I hope someone experiments with that idea. But I guess that will depend on GGXrd's popularity as well.

Doesn't Ultra already allow you to upload matches straight to YouTube? Or is it just for online matches?

Yeah the fact there's just 3 paths this time around vs every character getting a story seems a lot better to me. Considering how P4A had quite a few stories that mostly covered the same ground minus who fought what and potential joke endings, I really hope Ultimax takes a similar approach to BBCP.

Dat P4U approach to roster building

though, I guess the same could be said of Melty, with 3 versions of each character

Honestly I think 3 would be OK too, if they could make their movesets different enough. The biggest problem with Skullgirls right now is that it has marvel-style team building, but the roster isn't big enough to have any sort of interesting team building metagame. It takes them a ton of time and resources to add another character, so if they could effectively double the cast with EX characters I think it would improve the game a lot.

If EX characters means clones but with different movesets (Decapre-like) then it's a great idea and mike z pls do dis

Why are there 3 paths? Are they all canon?

This seems like an improvement at a glance. I really hated BB's past story modes. So much crap happened that I could never remember which parts were past loops and which one was the present/correct one.

Yeah they're all canon but a lot of stuff didn't seem to match up. One part of the Sector Seven story doesn't align with the Chrono Phantasma story at all. Same with the Six Heroes and Chrono Phantasma one. Iunno

Did the time loop end at some point, then? Or is it just presumed and no longer explicated?

If there were a way to easily input names into the recordings (I'm talking under 10 seconds per), this would definitely be feasible, considering PS4's new firmware update will allow you to export replays onto USB.

PS4 only records the last 15 minutes played. You would have to then export each of these 15 minutes chunks individually, so that would mean doing it something like after every match. So, yeah, no.
What they could easily do, though, is use the twitch function to broadcast the play session of each PS4, and archive it. This would mean giving an internet access to all consoles, and a LOT of bandwidth being used.

All in all, the good old capture cards will still be going strong for these kinds of use.

Simultaneously twitch streaming of all Evo stations at Kadey quality would cause an internet collapse.

The ability to record longer chunks and export them to to USB is coming in the next FW update.

The Topanga guys have just announced the "Topanga World League" on their stream. So far they only confirmed PR Rog, Xian and Infiltration.

The level of play on this will be disgusting! (shoutouts to @NualphaJPN for the info)

EDIT: The official page
The official line-up: Daigo, Fuudo, Bonchan, Wao, Infiltration, Xiao Hai, Pr Rog and Xian

Ah yeah, right, I saw the USB part but not the longer chunks.
I'm waiting to see how much it'll be, though -- I doubt you'll be able to just record one entire day of playing, like it would require to be of use in a tournament.

Awesome! It's a shame that they won't be doing qualifiers, but the line-up is so solid that it isn't a big deal to me.

I'll probably end up paying to watch the stream this time unlike Topanga Asia League.

You have to choose a secondary character, if you have any, before the league starts, not just picking any mid-set IIRC. I didn't knew he had a pocket Guile too
he was showing off his pocket guile on xian's academy just now. he got bodied by leslie's sagar though (5-1).

I'm watching Excellent Adventures with Infitration and Kbrad. It's so good. Well worth the money.

Also am I missing something about Next Level tonight?

dat hakan moment

NLBC gonna be crazy again tonight, I remember when I used to be way more excited for WNF but now I don't even watch WNF anymore, NLBC is king.
