Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

At first glance Iron Keep reminds me of Demon Ruins but will probably be much more difficult.

It wasn't that bad altho I think I was over leveled for it by the time I went there. Only the bosses gave me trouble. None of the regular enemies did any major damage to me.

Eh, they'd be notified by the fog gates that pop up or the inability to lay down their summon sign.

I swear I can here a change in tone of the background noise when I'm invaded even without notification.

Anywho, there are areas where the gates are not visible from the rest of the stage ;)

I'm just going there since I went back and took out the Earthen Peak boss. I think I am a little under leveled for the Shaded Ruins. I'm kinda just running all over the place to find bosses I haven't taken out yet. Also got my sweet Vengarl Helm, so that's exciting. ha.

Iron Keep blows. The archers suck and tight corridor fights with the turtle dudes suck too.

I didn't have fun here. I had the most fun at Huntsmans Corpse so far.

Those chests in the lava can go suck it.

Fuck, I hope the PS3 version gets patched ASAP because of that soul level fuckery.

Thinking of tweaking my hexers build a bit. Forget the exact stats right now, but I currently have 40/40 int/faith, fairly high attunement and a few points scattered around for weapon requirements / equip load/etc, at SL150.

I find I'm just not using sorcereis at all right now, so no need to be keeping my int that high. Thinking of something along the lines of.

* Vigor - 20
* Endurance - 17
* Vitality - 18
* (above 3 could use some tweaking - figure out what armor set I want to wear and try and get things so I can be at the 50% mark)
* Attuenment - 40
* Strength - 20
* Dex - 12
* Adapt - 4
* Int 22
* Faith - 50

Gives me the stats to use the defenders great sword, sunlight staff and chime and/or chime of want. Can use some spices to knock down the int requirements on a few of the hexes that I use that wouldn't meet the int requirements with this build.

Depending on the hat / rings I decide to wear - could shift around a few points. Then focus on miracles/hexes and using the defender great-sword as my weapon. I'd be getting some agility from Attuenment - but wondering if it might be worth allocating a few points into Adaptability still.

It's pointless to lower your INT to 22 if you are using hexes. It's going to scale with the lower of the 2 . All of your hexes will do more damage with 40int/fth.

I wouldn't bother with adaptability, you get enough AGI from 40 attunement, definitely.

Fuck, I hope the PS3 version gets patched ASAP because of that soul level fuckery.
?

Hmm, I opened the Kings door in the Castle, and what do you know? A boss fight! How do i beat the Defenders? After about a dozen tries, I got one of them killed and he's suddenly revived.

There's some shit going around on the PS3 ver where people can max stats, and force their soul level to be 1 - and then invade people early and kill themselves, cranking a new person's soul level WAY up and forcing them to get invaded by high levels/not find people around their actual level to summon.

Just fuckery. It sucks.

you don't have to spoiler that lol but that only affects NG.NG+ removes soul memory iirc.

Either way it was a stupid ass idea to make SM actually important

I'm not sure the megamule will ever get patched. It wasn't patched in the original. It's a shame really. People just like to be dicks.

I really think there should be a reward for banishing invaders. There'd be a bit more motivation for PvP if, say, killing a Bellbro yielded a titanite chunk.

I was a little disappointed that
Drangleic Castle
was so short. I was hoping for a situation like Anor Londo where you have an extended stay there and enjoy the atmosphere.

Gotta take them down togetherish. Wait too long with one of them dead, and it'll revive. Just take your time and be patient, trying to lure them out somewhat separately and keep their health bars close. Thankfully they have very very low health (especially the Watcher).

Lol, why do people think they're so clever when they use Chameleon or a Silver Talisman? Twice in a row, I stunlocked a vase to its death

Having a small issue and pretty far into the game, I still cannot use pyromancy, I have the flame and spells, I know I do not have attunement slots to use these, how do I get attunement slots and how do I use pyromancy in this game. Was going through without it, but could use it for the Medusa boss when she tries to heal across the map. My intelligence I believe is like at 12- I think. Any help would be great

You never noticed the attunement stat when you level up? You raise that for slots. Attunement of 10 gives you one slot. There are also a couple rings that grant you more slots so you don't have to pump so much into ATT.

Raise your ATT stat. Or there are some rings you can wear to gain slots. Equip your flame and attune spells at a bonfire.

u can drain the poison

Yea I've been trying to find items with open slots, but that may be why, I believe I was neglecting ATT because I heard the GB guys saying that it didn't actually do anything, guess I'll start doing that then. I was thinking like in Dark Souls 1 you could just equip the caster and use it, stipulations here though. I'll try that I suppose.

What do I have to do to increase spell charges for my Soul Geyser? I reduced the intel of it over a dozen times and it still only allows one use.
Hexer's Hood will give you extra casts, or you can use the northern ritual band but that limits your HP. You also get a small cast bonus from raising ATT enough. And of course you can attune more than one copy of the spell, if you have it, to get double the casts.

Wow, that does suck. I knew about megamule but didn't realize the implications with how soul memory works. I haven't run into any of these jerks yet.

You level up attunement to use it. You get your first attunement slot at 10 attunement, the second at 13.

Then you attune the pyro you want to use, press up to select it in the menu, and then R1/L1 to use it depending on which hand the pyro glove is in.

The pyro damage will scale with any points you put in intelligence or magic. You can also upgrade the flame with fire seeds, so if you have any of those upgrade the pyro glove as much as possible.

This is no different than Dark Souls 1. You still needed attunement slots for pyro...

.
Woah, they
revive?
That's crazy. I
killed them pretty close the same time.
Probably would have taken me way longer if that had happened. Is it a NG+ thing?
How much health do they come back with?

It's been a while, haha, thanks though, I'll upgrade ATT and see if that works, forgot that INT is the strength for pyro, was thinking that would open slots. Got it now. Thank You

You should probably press select on the stat screen to read what the stats actually do before leveling them up.

Edit: Also when you go to put a point in a stat, the level up screen will highlight all of the attributes that stat influences.

Full health and it can happen on regular NG, but they were so easy that it didn't even matter.

I think you heard them say ADP. ATT has always raised attunement slots.

Speaking of which I think ADP actually increases the iframes. It may not be by a lot but it feels like it helps on some things. Plus the estus speed helps.

Welcome to the Blue Sentinels.

And on that note, seriously, looking over all the covenant rewards I'm not convinced there's a genuine point to being in any of them. FROM dropped the ball here again.

If you have a Faith build there is an extremely good reason for being in Blue Sentinels.

Wrath of the Gods is uber in DSII and can hit close to 2k HP as a fast, difficult to dodge AOE.

Sunbro reward isn't bad either as
Sun Sword is one of the better weapons in the game.

What is everyone's ADP at? I'm faith build with 12 currently. I keep hearing its not as useful. Should I just redo my stats and get that down to min?

Spices don't increase castings. Hexer's hood will give you 1 additional cast per copy of the spell. The boss in Aldia's Keep is ridiculously easy with Soul Geyser, so just keep using a Bonfire Ascetic on the second Aldia's Keep bonfire, and keep getting copies of Geyser. I believe attunement can increase castings as well, but I never put too many points into it.

I can't remember what the armour set is, but there's a set I think dropped by a cage of ghoulies in Lost Bastille - the one in the well. 'Well' I killed them all in the cage before they got out and the item drop is in the cage and I don't think there's a way on to it. Sigh.

Where can I find a anti poison ring or something?
There's one a little before the Covetous Demon fight. In the area with the poison vases and hammer guys, there's a bottom floor that leads down some stairs to a hallway (where the poison "pool" is) it's in the room there, but you'll need a Pharros lockstone

Extra copies of great/resonant soul and the abyss seal definitely make that covenant worth it for a hex build, and the bell keepers are the best way to get chunks. There's definitely a lot of shitty covenant rewards though.

Shrine of Amana really is a miserable miserable place.

I think I'm one of three guys here who really liked that area.

It's just a Wanderer set.
