Jesus, the Belltower covenant is hilarious. How will this thing not be a total gankfest once the game has been a while longer if it isn't already. At least 50% of the hosts are already waiting for you and for those that aren't another grey phantom shows up almost straight after you so it's almost like darkroot garden but as if it was in the Parish blacksmith area, lol.

So dumb, but I can't deny it's the easiest way to find titanite chunks early on!

I accidentally killed
Pate
in the forest. I thought he was another fake out hollow and attacked him. Did I screw anything up later in the game?

I almost killed him during my first playthrough. I can see him far away and I thought of shooting arrows on him to bait him closer to me. Didn't do it anyway as I saw him all alone, went closer and to my surprise he was an NPC lol. Same scenario happened at no-mans wharf with that mage sitting near the docked boat.

Other than not knowing how will his story unfolds, You screwed up nothing afaik.

Those bastards just have a ton of HP.

Well the patch didn't come out yet lol. Is there armor good/cool?

Ahh figured you meant compatibility 1.03. It seems good for its weight class. Twinkling upgrades though, which I ran out of :(. Does look very cool though. I'm always a fan of a tight fitting metallic armor.

I finally managed to get Rank 2 in Blue Sentinels after quite some pvp, I could definitely notice the new, larger blue aura when invading. I managed to invade some caster who was SL 235 despite me only being SL140, I learned it after some friendly PSN messaging.

Pvp sure is nice. I can't wait to try the Defender Greatsword now, the S scaling in Lightning is delicious.

What area are you at to pvp as a blue sentinel? I've used the cracked blue eye orb everywhere and it always says "unable to find another player" blah blah.

I'll try to get some pieces myself. Do they drop all parts?

I love how the coffin keeps getting people hahaha!

I finally managed to keep Lucatiel alive during my bonfire ascetic
Rotten
fight. Thanks to all who gave me encouragement, it really helped! Now I'll use that soul for the
crypt greatsword
for my hex build! I know I kept Lucatiel alive for two
rotten
fights, but now I can't remember if she survived the
sinner
fight hahaha! Oh well, if not I'll try on NG+ (or just try it when I start another build).

EDIT: Is Jugo easier or harder to keep alive?

Just got to the Shrine of Amana. So how much do I have left to go? It feels like a little less than a third left. I'm still enjoying it but some areas just make me want to give up on it for now especially since i'm running low on human effigy and haven't found any in a while.

About 3-5 hours depending. Maybe shorter if you are decent.

Gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed in DS2's version of Yurt
3AQmK.gif

making him a caster was quite cool though

so, I had someone beg me via PSN messages not to kill him today

God I love invasions.

As somebody who didn't summon Benhart at all yet, is it worth it to Ascetic that area twice and then do the final boss with him to complete his quest?

You could do it that way, but it would probably be easier to do that area three times :p

Good to know thanks! That's the only fight that's easy though?

I did that fight twice and the Mirror Knight once, he was very easy to keep alive, he is quite tanky.

Heh. I just don't know if I want to ++ the same area three times. I've actually been trying to not use any ascetics in my first runthrough, but my build is a Dex/Int mix and I kind of want his sword as soon as possible. :(

I'm not even half-way through my first playthrough (waiting for friends to catch up on Soul Memory so we can play together), and I've started a new character.

One thing I love is that DaS2 already has the same appeal of the previous titles, in that starting from the very beginning (or indeed starting NG+) doesn't feel like a chore or a grind. On the contrary, it feels liberating and exciting to take on the same familiar areas with a fresh mindset.

With this build, I'm going to focus mainly on STR and VIT for heavy lifting.
At the moment, I'm running around dual-wielding Caestus +3s. Boxing enemies using power stance is way too much fun! You get decent poise break as well, as they hit almost as fast as daggers.

The backstab kidney punch never gets old, either. Damn I love this game.

Anyone else trying any wacky/unorthodox loadouts?

His sword is a fake :p, the one you want you get by killing Freja in NG+ and trading that soul to Straid

All I know about Belltower Covenant is that the people who do their PVP there, whether host or invader, deserve each other.

There seems to be an overabundance of dual caestus dudes in PvP though!
I ran into a dual claws guy once.
I tried dual katanas for a while, but came to the conclusion that dual wielding is cool for only certain weapons but power stance isn't particularly practical most of the time.
You can even power stance avelyns, the L1 shoots both crossbows at the same time.

NOOOOOOOOooooooo.......oh.

Well that's easier. Although I guess I still want the achievement....

I killed him on my first run, thinking that to be something special. I'm going to leave him alone on NG+ (since I already have it from he first playthrough).
It does suck, though.

Bell towers will be the forest of DS2. Soon people will wise up summon people who are high as fuck in level and power and gank invaders like what they did to the Forest covenant people. Only a matter of time. I'll give it a month

I just got to the end part,
what am I supposed to do when I get to the ancient dragon? i talked to her and she just gave me some mist...

You could attack, which I don't recommend without lots of prep. Or you could take the
mist heart back to the Forest of Giants
and look for some things you couldn't previously interact with. *wink, wink*

Remember those dead trees you kept seeing?

ooh, i guess there were trees there...
jeez, they expect people to find that on their own?

Haha, oh really? Haven't seen it yet. I mostly play restricted region in Japan, so maybe people aren't as prone to double-fisting out here ;)

I'm experimenting with dual claws (one poison, one bleed) on my DEX character. Can be quite nasty. I find in PvP if you go in "all guns blazing" with dual wield, you'll probably get exposed and shut down quickly. But if you play it safe at first, then switch up and go power stance when your opponent's on the back foot, you can often see it brings a cool psychological impact to a match.

To the bolded: good lord.
