I'll be watching the initial model release with great interest! Not preordering, as with most new devices (and this one is particularily advanced) I expect bugs and maybe production issues (though I expect the manual version to take care of some of those since it comes out first). 900$ is a while lot of money and I'd feel terrible if it had problems from the get go.
Also I'm still waiting for the Miku license announcement

I'm thinking of cancelling one of my orders on amiami, mainly because I don't think my wallet will be able to handle it. I've never done this before, this figure comes out mid-May so I'm not sure if that would piss them off if I cancelled by now.

Think they are more annoyed by cancellation of things already in stock than preorders, you should be fine if you've brought a lot of stuff from them before this as well. Just emphasis your financial constraint when you send them the message.

My mailman is an older Asian guy. He knows my aunt who works for the post office so he's pretty friendly.
For my first AmiAmi package, he actually went back in the evening to try and redeliver it, so that was pretty nice of him. I think he gave up after seeing I kept getting more packages though, lol.

I'll definitely be looking into getting one. Especially considering how customisable they are! Plus, Danny Choo is literally from my old neck of the woods (Hackney) and we both share the same dislike for the area, so I really hope he finds a lot of success in what he's doing!

Got my cancellation notice from Ami about 2020 Miku. They were surprisingly chill about it. Just a "try not to do it again" message. Still have Satan and the upcoming re-release still on pre-order. Hopefully I'll have the cash for them by the time they come out.

Okay, bros. It's time to talk about something serious. Budgeting. I'm kinda bad at it. So how do you guys do it? I'm guilty of a good bit of impulse buying, and I'd really rather not be. It's not just AmiAmi pre-owned (that's just most of it). I have other hobbies, too. So how do you guys do your monthly budgets?

I just buy what I like. I see tons of games, figures etc that I think look cool but I pass on them. I shouldn't buy something because I feel I have to, I buy what I like but I don't buy random junk just because it's popular or selling out/rare.
When it comes to games I'm mainly a Nintendo gamer and Nintendo games hardly drop in price so I pre-order them with vouchers etc. My price ends up being the best price around even a year later most of the times.
With figures, I have a huge list of things on Figinstock, and I go through the emails each day,and a lot of the times I'll open a bunch of figs up in different tabs, and order the tabs in most likely to buy to ones I doubt I'll buy and leave it there. Come back days later and slowly one by one I end up-closing all the tabs until they're all closed.
Basically I try not to be irrational. I see shit I think looks cool and I'm often inches away from adding them to my cart, but I just wait it out. 9 times out of 10 I realize I don't really want it and I just think of the other stuff I could buy with them yens.
If I see a figure that costs 6k for example I think of all the other figures I could get for that price bracket. Then I think "No point getting this for 6k when there's another figure I have in mind that I'd rather have that's only 1k more and 10x better!"
Basically act like that 6k or whatever is the only 6k I have and I have to use it wisely. I'm weird, but that's me.

Heh kinda annoyed at the marks rubbed off on the lower back. Not that you would ever see it with the top and the hair covering it pretty much most of it. Still I think that detail is nice.

For one thing I think everyone should up their standards, don't buy something just because it looks "cute". I don't know the standard for evaluating girl figures but here's how I handle my mecha purchases.
How much do I really like the mecha being represented? Do I already own one or several different variations of the mecha? How well built is the product itself? Is it gonna be rare in the future? Do I already have a bunch of boxed figures in the closet?
If you run out of display space that's a telling sign that you're buying more than what you need.
Yeah they are pretty much identical apart from the color and different accessories which like you say are interchangeable since all the pegs and dimensions are the same. I was going to go for the red one due to the cape which I love and red looks sick since he's in battle mode but I liked the accessories that came with the Green one more overall. Lots of viriety. The box he puts over his head, his gun, baseball glove, jacket etc. Plus it's a lot harder to find and I knew I wanted it since I saw the pre-orders go live. Big FLCL fan. Got it for 4,180Yen so I think I got a good deal!

That's a really good point, too. Especially with the prices going up, up, up. I'd be perfectly happy buying a half-dozen figures per year if I loved each and every one. Impulse buys have lead to a few disappointments that could have been avoided.
AmiAmi with Figinstock. It altered me at 4am and I was like "Here's my chance!" Was juggling between the red one and the Green one. Had both in my cart and was gonna get both at one point but I snapped out of it and just went for the green one. This was back on the 27th of Feb. Hasn't come back since but if you keep a look out you'll find it eventually!

As for budgeting. All I'd say is calculate how much you get free per month, and don't spend beyond your means. Credit cards help for certain expensive months. It certainly helps not having a gf, not owning a car, and having very good rent.

Well, I make it a general habit not to use credit cards. I actually didn't have one till recently when I got one of those Best Buy ones so that I could pick up a new TV right away and get the 16 month no interest. I'm paying it off real quick anyways and then I plan on either canceling it or locking it away somewhere hard to get to. Normally I would not have had to use one had my company not had to do a 1 month layoff for the first time in 14 years at the same fucking time as I was moving into a new place and needed a bunch of new furniture and shit. Talk about timing.
