Nintendo is a company well capable of making cute characters, but with Isabelle they've really outdone themselves. Warms your heart just to look at her. She was one of the reasons that AC:NL was so great.

I expect 1-2 newbie reveals and a dump-truck of vet reveals.
Kid Icarus is in NES Remix 2.
Yoshi's Island release on the VC this month.
Pacman and Mii have been in Mario Kart, which Ninty is trying to hype like hell.
Those are all kinda grasping at straws as far as cross promotion goes, but I think it's a little more plausible than any random anniversary.

Palutena or Ridley? Or both? Neither?
If I'm being honest, I'd rank them in order of likeliness:
Palutena (We've had a potential leak that Sakurai appeared to hat-tip to with a PoTD)
Mewtwo (He's been everywhere with X/Y and the pokemon specials)
Dixie Kong (Recent release, further free advertisement for DKCR:TF)
Mii (Because... yeah.)
With the rest all very unlikely. I'd say there's a decent chance that it's one of the above 4.
Yes, I think this will be happening, along with details about the customizable features and connectivity between the two versions.
I've got this hunch too. It would seem very appropriate for a global Direct. Everyone can relate to Miis in some way.
Also guys think about this too: We might see the menu for at least one of the versions for the first time, hear in-game music, learn about possible Wii U/3DS connectivity, etc.
