FTFY. ;)

lol, this
Edit:

Well, considering how OP magic is in DkS2 compared to DeS, I'd say in this case it might be warranted as to give melee builds a fighting chance.... :P In DeS, even without Curse Weapon, melee builds were far, far more competitive than pure mages or even spellswords. Now it's the other way around.

Yeah because everyone is a spellsword in this game. There is no reason to not use a buff no matter the build. I haven't seen a single casting that isn't easily avoidable yet, even though the game is new. I'm guessing mages will be roll BSd all day once people get used to things. Though since everyone will be using GMB for free one might as well facetank.

lmao, I was farming flame swathe in Belfry Sol (do they even drop it? Jesus I've tried like 20 times) with a farming set on and got invaded by two GPs in that little ring at the end of the zone. I killed them both, they were pretty bad I guess but one guy was hitting me with a club when I clearly wasn't in range.
was that lag or just a stupidly weird hitbox?

I never thought I would do it, but I did. I am now a Hex Machine:

What helm is that? The armour in this game looks a lot more interesting than in DS1.

I got summoned as a grey phantom in Royal Rat Authority place? I'm in sunbro covenant and didn't do anything special - how'd I get summoned?

Also, after beating RRA, there's another ratbro guy. Is he related to the other one near the giant rat? Is it the same Covenant?

Finally, I've found myself wearing Crighton's chainmail over Vengarl's because I think it's pretty unique and cool (and I don't see a lot of people online wearing it). Is this asinine? Vengarl's stats are way above it, but everyone wears it online.

You take too much damage now in PvP. I have a SL150 MLGS build and you can wipe away 1500+ health in the blink of an eye. I have 1900+ health and 2 basic shots from a hex kill me. It's ridiculous.

git gud.

i agree. magic does too much damage in pvp - at least some casts

That is how the covenant works. You get summoned to fight a ratbro and his mobs. The rats are the same in the two areas, just think of it as two arenas.

And fashion souls > defense rating. I always use armor for looks, not a big loss with how poise works now.

I can't find
the memory tree for the soul in the gutter?
also IMO
the end game levels and the memories are top tier stuff.

There is no
memory tree in the gutter.
. Go to the
Black Gulch and drop down some ledges instead. There will be no memory tree though.

Great, that makes me feel better. What do you wear? I find myself wearing the engraved gauntlets I got from Creighton because I'm hoping those crits trigger.

I win 75% of my fights easily and to be honest it feels just like cheap OP gear and magic doing all the heavy lifting. What I'm saying is their is rarely a good battle any more. It's just over too easily, particularly with the new stun system and total lack of consistently functional poise.

The red phantoms in
Iron Keep on NG+ tho. I died to the one wielding the Great Demon Hammer right before the 3rd bonfire countless times.
So frustrating and good.

I too would like to know what head piece this is and where to get it.

Drops off that red phantom NPC near the waterfall at the skeleton bosses (Merciless Roenna). Or it drops from the magic enemy that attacks you after you go through the hollow only door in the Shrine of Amana.

Both spawn once per playthrough so be prepared to burn a ton of ascetics. I THINK you have a better chance with the enemy over the red phantom.

Whatever I like the look of usually that allows me to keep weight low. I've never tried the really heavy armor but it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference. Engraved gauntlets should be good with a fast hitting weapon.

The ancient dragon is just infuriating. His hitbox for his feet when he lands is all sorts of fucked up. I am killed while being at least 4-5 ft away from the edge of his foot when he lands. I am at a point where I want to just give up on it.

Just started playing dark souls 1 legit for the first time after beating the main quest in dark souls 2. The performance on the ps3 is crazy good in comparison. The frame rate and general pace seems faster. Not trying to rag on ds2 because its my clear goty but I was surprised just how different both games feel side by side.

Guys
Guys
I'm gonna cry

After five days of farming, the Mad Warrior dropped his last item... But we killed each other at the same damn time. Anyone know if that's gone forever or can I still farm him for it?
Well luckily using a bonfire ascetic will reset the drops he has so you can farm him again but I can't say the same for your sanity if you chose to do so.

Just finished fighting a ratbro just now, took me 3 mins... Scurrying like a ratbro should. Never thought am packing a zwei as backup just for reach.

Having depended on swords and shields (and tanklike armor) the last two games, I'm glad that they made dual-weilding so much better this game.

I haven't even had a shield equipped for most of the game, and been keeping with upgraded leather armor to keep the weight down. Dual murakumo's in a power stance tend to really wreck things.

Question. If I want to go dual-weilding katanas with effects added, is it better to have them both be the same effect, or can it work if I split it between them? (One poison, one bleed)

Hah finally beat him. Found it much easier to bait him into using his fire when you are in front of him instead of doing the leg strategy .

Do the souls of a giant go away on NG+?

When I think about it, I really miss the depressed settings of Demon and Dark souls I in 2. It kinda felt a lot lighter and more fantasy-ish. Majula was really a comfort zone to me. Kinda like a small town where I could shop, repair, level up, take a break etc.

My first katanas of set was split between lighting and fire. Feel its better to have some variety.

Yeah, I'd say the overall framerate in DS1 feels smoother than DS2. You'll get some areas where it drops straight to the shitter like blight town, but overall it just feels better. DS2 was wierd, I'd get some instances where I would be in a square room with nothing but a bonfire and my FPS would be stuttering, and then I'd be in other areas thats looked much nicer and the framerate would be fine. I like the camera in DS better too, the camera in DS2 feels too spastic. DS2 is still probably my GOTY though.

I'm sure I'm missing something in DS2... melee feels so different compared to the first game :/ In DS1 I could easily dodge, attack etc etc but everything just feels so slow and clunky now. I've played most of the game with a Fire Longsword and Sorcery because I just can't find anything else worth using. Has anyone else found this to be the case? Am I missing something? I want to love this game :(

Get a bit more Agility (from Adaptability) and dodging will feel much better.

Dragons!!..Dragons
everywhere!!. aaaaaaaahh
But i lost 100k souls rolling like a moron by rolling off a cliff

And platinum! Took me about 140 hours. Really great game. Enjoyed every second of it. Ended up being level 256. Still kinda addicted to the game so I'm sure I'm not done yet, though I'm sure I'll end up paying it not as much.

It's the other way around on 360. Jumping into DkS feels slightly choppy compared to the 30-50 fps of DkS2. The tearing is pretty awful in areas though.

I've got a few DS2 questions.

First, has anyone run into an odd bug in the Doors of Pharros area? I got there today and none of the areas in the lower area would attack me and my attacks would go right through them. I even died at the boss there and double checked and they still wouldn't attack.

Second, is the Drangleic Sword as good as I think it is. I've been using this thing practically the whole game with the few upgrades, and it has been serving me so well. Am I missing out on something better?

Ugh this game.. I kept dying in
Iron Keep's Smelter Demon boss
and finally out of frustration summoned phantoms to help, I just let them handle it as I cower in the corner lol. But I noticed both of them were using ranged magic attacks.

I really need to work on this, right now my only range is Pyromancy which of course wasn't much help in this situation. (Like throwing cold water at Iceman).

Me too. Haven't struggled half this much any other boss in DS or DS2. Stupid, stupid fight.

The enemies there won't attack you if you're in the rat covenant.

You are in a covenant that causes the enemies in the area to ignore you.

Drangleic sword starts off pretty strong but isn't anything special. Such are usually the treats of twinkling titanite weapons. There are many similar weapons that hit just as hard with lower weight and simpler upgrading.

Which lighter weapons would I want to find then?

Giant lord is
such an ass, he keeps doing that sword slam into ranged digging attack before I even get out of the dust and fog from the rolling statue head and 1 hit kos me. I can't even see where it is, and this has happened 4 times in a row now.

5 now

e: got him!

e2: NAVLAAN YOU BITCH

How does one boost the number of uses, of pyrmoancy spells?
- certain armor pieces like the hexers hood increase spell casts
- the northern ritual band, but that cuts some of your HP
- you can attune multiple copies of the same pyro
- boosting ATT will raise cast numbers slightly too
- you can use consumable herbs to refill casts

It's R2 R2 R1 stun combo works well though. Especially when imbued with boltstone
