Well, anything in the earlier sections can be 1 shot. The ones later are 2 shot or 1 backstab. The important thing is that you can get to +10 lightning very early in the game, buy a boltstone from the blue sentinels, invade successfully in the belfry 6 times and get the slab in the forest of giants. With sunlight weapon I can do over 1000 per swipe on one of the final bosses.
Well I'll make one now then I've got tonnes of material and it should help with the looking glass knight. What faith do you have just out of interest? Mines still the default for the knight class.

Sorry. I misspoke. When I said small shields I meant like a normal shield. I have a Drangleic shield and a Kite shield and both block 100% physical but the stability is pretty poor. Was hoping there would be something that would give me like 70 without having to lug around a giant shield.

Oh, then I think the best is the D
efender's
Shield. 68 stability at 5 weight, traded for the T
hrone
D
efender's
soul. You might also be interested in the Twin Dragon Greatshield which gives 96.2% block and 73 stability at a (for a greatshield) low weight of 7.

finally killed that
Darklurker
fucker.

6 flame swathe did the job.

Similar, I used Lightning Spears and killed it off with a Flame Swathe. My heart was pounding.

Some of the music tracks from the game are incredible! Listened to the credits song a fair bit since finishing it, brilliant.

Hmm. I already have the Twin Dragons sheild.

I guess I will have to wait for the other one. I think thats one of the 3 bosses left in the game for me.

Finished the game with 49 hours, and almost level 100. Really liked it, overall i think it is a better Souls game, even tough DaS1 had more impact. Loved the consistency, since it doesnt have a really horrible area (like Lost Izalith). I find it impressive how they manage to put everything together from previous games on this one... rings, weapons, armors, spells, miracles, pyros and hexes. For a sequel, i would make the world more "tight" / "believable" / interconnected like DaS1... in DaS2 i think you have a really drastic change of mood and environments in areas that are really close. I also would like bigger individual areas, and the end of this rule "boss-behind-every-single-fogwall". Now i am going for the Platinum Trophy, and maybe a run on the Champions Convenant...but before i would like to talk about some things and ask some questions:

1- I killed two NPC's,
Navlaan and Grave Warden Agdayne
. The first i think i didnt pay attention, and since some characters were talking about
an assassin, and i remember what Yurt and Lautrec do
, i decided to kill him in order to preserve the merchants. The second, i was really mad because i couldnt stop
the fuc**** bell sound
on the hall to fight
Velstadt
, and somehow thought that maybe he was playing with me... BTW,
putting the bell behind and under the stars was genius
, even tough it made me feel dumb,
almost like when i tried to kill Seth before destroying the crystal
. Now, what i would like to know is: Burning a Bonfire Aesthetics revives them? Is there a way to revive killed NPCs? I believe this count as a sin, but what are the consequences of being a sinner?

2- About the Bonfire Aesthetics, i didnt use one in my first playtrough, primarily because i read the it also increases the difficulty for the NG+ and others. Since i am working toward the Platinum, is there a good point to use one now that i am already beginning the NG+?

3- I didnt get the achievements related to talking and summoning Benhard and Lucatiel... it is almost impossible to get this without reading some wiki and someone telling how it works... now i need to do this... can i use the bonfire aesthetics and try this one in my first game? or it is better to try in the NG+ or even a game from the start?

4- Can someone explain briefly to me how the scalling of weapons work? Since DaS1 i didnt bother to learn, and know i really think it is soooo confusing. Maybe i'm an masochist, but in the Souls game i get attached to a weapon and go with it until the end... like the Fire Longsword in Demon's, or the Lightning Spear in Dark1... now i finished with the Heide Knight Sword, and upgraded it to Raw +10... i also had a Great Scythe (saw someone kicking the Smelter Demon ass with it, and decided i needed one), that i got to +10 and Infused with Dark because it apparently had more stats raising... but the problem is, both are really horrible now, both to PVP and PVE... fighting the later bosses, sometimes it almost doesnt damage it! i can see the number of the damage, but visually the health almost doesnt move!

Right now the only thing i "know" is that weapons that have letters (S > E) increases their attack based on how much of the respective stat i have... is this right? When a weapon have B scalling for both Strenght and Dexterity, i have to upgrade both "together" in order for it to scale, or just one is fine? Does infusing change the scalling stats?

5- Are the players separated between NG+? I mean, can i PVP with people in their NG++ while i am in the NG+?

Thanks!!!

Had a good day of progress. Went through D. Castle and took out the
dual Dragonriders
first time with ridiculous ease. Killed the melee one first and just had some fun with the archer for kicks.

Then I went ahead to the
Looking Glass Knight
and managed to scrape out the win first time there too. Was having some issues dodging his lightning but lifegems saw me through. Got invaded on the long walk to the fog gate and got the dude down to one hit, then I got violated by a bunch of the stone dudes. I wasn't best pleased about that.

Up to this point I've been rocking a Halberd+10, I had it in mind that the BK halberd needed a faith or int requirement so I didn't touch it but then I gave it a proper look and wow... fully upgraded I realised it'll trounce the standard Halberd. Had enough twinkling to take it to +4 and its already 100+ damage higher overall.

I feel like a BAMF right now. Bring on the Shrine...

What is a reasonable spell/bow for a reasonable price for a level 120 knight who just wants to get rid of mage/archer enemies quickly in areas like Iron Keep/Earthen Peak?

I'll copy my message from the previous page as I got no answers and really want to jump into NG+ asap:

I think i'm all ready to head into NG+ after killing
Vendrick, the Darklurker and Ancient Dragon (which was an absolute bitch to kill.....)
but I have a question for any of you currently in NG+ or further.

Do the portals to the
Dark Chasm of Old
(accessed via the Pilgrims of Dark covenant) remain permanently open now forever in NG+.

I ask because after you kill
Darklurker
they stay open without having to use a Human Effigy and they are a great place to farm Bonfire Ascetics.

Should I do all my farming now before I jump into NG+ or will they always remain permanently open (I know other covenant ranks remain so surely this one should do too?)

I'd suggest a bow if you didn't put anything into INT or FAI. With a bow you'll have longer reach (you can use binoculars with a spell for range, but again you need to have the stats for the spell).

So in ng+ finishing this playthrough

Went to king vendricks throne room.
fucking 2 persuers spawned in there, I have a hard enough time with one. Its so damn tempting to try and kill them. Guessing you cant summon anyone in like after smelter boss room persuer.

I could use some armor recommendations :) I'm just outside the end-game D
ragon Shrine
at around SL175 and I'm just using an unupgraded Vengarl's set except the pants. I have VIT 29 and while my goal was to be able to roll around a lot, I still tend to hover between 55% and 69% thanks to either Sun Sword+10 or Zweihander+9. Also, are any of the boss weapons worthwhile? I have very little INT/FTH but 40 in STR/DEX (which is why Sun Sword was recommended a few days ago, thanks). Maybe I should infuse my Sun Sword with something as well? But what?

Wow. Flame sword +10 makes a mockery of the Skeleton Lords fight. Pure ownage. Good progress so far today. Took out Chariot Executioner as well. Now off to Freya.

Darkbros, I need your guidance.

I'm a basic knight with a flaming fist:
Code:
VGR 18
END 18
VIT 18
ATN 10
STR 38
DEX 26
ADP 12
INT 03
FTH 10
I'm looking to upgrade the Pursuer's Greatsword / Drangelic Sword / Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe / Dragondrider Bow.

I don't quite understand infusing tho. What would be the smartest choice for Pursuer's & Drangelic with my build? Looks like the Axe has a lightning bonus, should I infuse it with lightning to double down on that? Dragonrider has a magic bonus, but I think my build is super weak with magic...

As you can see, my INT is 03 so I'm pretty dumb. Appreciate your guidance. Praise the sun!

Finished the game for real today and started poking around. Man did I miss a lot of things, I don't even know how it would be possible to find everything on your own.

Specifically Brightstone Cove:
The bird lady and the pardoner. Just totally missed them.

I really like the composite bow. Scales with both str and dex and doesn't take as much stamina to use as the Dragonrider Bow.

There's a bonfire not too far from there, right?

if you infuse a weapon you should only spec to minimal stats to wield it and spec into int / faith for the scaling of that element. Otherwise, go for strength / dex and don't infuse it to keep the scaling (depending on the weapon). You can also use items or spells to enchant it temporarily, combining the best of both. When it comes to greatswords, Mastodon Greadsword is the best for a strength character. For dex it would be Mirrah Greatsword. Ultra Greatswords suck most of the time imo. Tho, they are decent for PvE. If you want to go for an enchant route, Claymore is nice.

I'm not sure if you can summon for them or not, since it's not exactly a boss room, but if you're having issues beating them, then a little tip is that
if one of them hits you with the cursed sword and doesn't kill you, the other one will just despawn leaving you with only one to fight.

I could be wrong in this, but doubling down on a stat bonus is only advisable if you have a high DMG in that stat. For example, I roll with the crypt greatsword as a hexer (S rank in dark) and infusing it with Dark (as I have 162 Dark DMG). I'm also considering a flame greatsword since I have 159 Fire DMG (for those who have high dark defense).

You could increase your lightning damage on the axe, but in doing so will drop a scaling in STR (for example, if you have an A STR weapon, it will fall to B). Your FAI at 10 may not give you the optimal result you're looking for. Again, I could be wrong, but that is how I've seen it so far.

Probably been answered (and I finished the game regardless) but is there any incentive/reward for lighting all the torches in the game? Cheers

Goddamn, shaded woods is horrible as a caster
I know right. I didn't have trouble on my dex there, and I was shocked by how resistant both magic and fire these lion warriors were. A great heavy soul arrow did like 400+ damage on the Gyrm warriors in Doors of Pharros after that, and Flame Swathe would do 1000+, but on those lions, 75 for soul arrow and about 200 for Flame Swathe? Fuuuuu.

It looks pretty! (And it's sometimes useful to see better.)

There isn't really a reward for it. Specific torches have impacts on NPCs or areas, but other than that, they just seem to be holdovers from when lighting was supposed to play a big part in navigating areas.

they also have high poise.

True that. I can't ever stagger these bastards. At least my uchi killed them in two quick r2 before they could hit me for the most part, but playing hit-and-run with a puny backup sword on my mage was a pain in the ass. >_< Once I looted and explored the whole place, I refilled at the bonfire and then just speed ran to the boss because fuck them.

The dagger is great for criticals even with minimal stats and no upgrades, almost worth lugging around for any character. I think one backstab is enough for most mobs.

Where can I find some goddamn poison resistant gear? I already have the Poison Bite Ring, and even if I equip that and consume a Common Fruit the poison build up is still pretty bad.

Guess I shouldn't have killed all the NPCs before starting a NG+. Being invaded by arbiter spirits constantly even though I paid off Cromwell right before I started NG+. I read that you can lose your sin level by letting arbiter spirits kill you but I've done that 5 times so far with no luck. Is it a point for every NPC you killed or something?

Lol. Lots of messages like that around that termite so as saint ahead.

thanks. And it did broke my armor.

Are you sure? The gas it spews out heals poison, and I don't ever remember anything there breaking equipment.

Edit: Okay, I just checked to make sure. The gas does slowly degrade your equipment, but the main point of it is that it heals poison.

Going to have to farm for some Skeptic's Spices. I'd love to be able to use Profound Still for PVP. The Faith requirement is killing me though. I need about 16 more spices and I'm good to go. Wish I could buy some, I've been sitting on 450K+ souls with not much to buy this early into NG+.
