good to know... I was really thinking about dropping the b
uc
k on it
It's not a bad little puzzle game at all. I bought it for $2, finished it in an hour and a half and don't regret the purchase at all.

It's worth dropping 99¢ just to support a one-man dev team.

Does anybody know if Nintendo has mentioned anything about updating the OS on the WiiU to create more space? I'm likely going to be picking up a lot of GBA games, but as it is (after upgrading most of my NES/SNES games) I have virtually no space to put this stuff. I don't want to start deleting, especially since I heard some games were pulled entirely from the eShop (Yoshi's Cookie, I believe).

Why not just pick up an external hard drive to add more space? I've got a 1 TB hooked to mine and I doubt I'll ever need to upgrade again.

Sorry, I think I said it wrong. I actually have a 1.5TB drive hooked up to it, my problem is the actual menu screen. There aren't enough squares to put all the GBA games that I want to purchase, as in, they won't fit on the menu screen. I was wondering if they've announced any plans to expand this screen, or better yet just add a folder system like the 3DS.

I may be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that the Wii U automatically adds more pages when they get filled up.

Thanks, good to know. It's still a bit annoying that I have to clump everything together just to get more space available, but at least I won't have to start deleting stuff.

Because digital should be compared to actual carts...

Nintendo does them that way. *shrugs* You don't have to agree with them, but recognizing that they put the same "worth" on current digital and retail releases (and arguably more "worth" on the digital ones, as those have sales much less) means that the fact we got GBA games for the price of SNES games or less is a small miracle.

Because digital should be compared to actual carts...

Sorry, but I think it should be brought up. It's part of the equation that shouldn't be ignored, just like how piracy shouldn't be ignored either. The fact of that matter is that the digital pricing is, in some cases, far cheaper than the physical cartridge, and is a better, cheaper alternative. The only way you can get cheaper is if you go download a ROM, which I personally dislike doing.

I'm going to need all of you to buy Advance Wars so we have a chance in hell of ever seeing a new installment.

a lot of these GBA games are good, feature packed games. I can understand complaining if Nintendo charged 20+ dollars for these but.....videogames are one of the least expensive hobbies out there for value per dollar spent. I mean 8 dollars is bad for a game that will last you many 10's of hours like advance wars, or something you might want to replay over and over?

Compared to Sony's pricing of PS1 games Nintendo's handling is just sad especially since there isn't a one time play on multiple platforms. I mean NES for $5 some 27 years later? Smh.

I think there are some NES games that are worth $5. Like the original Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and SMB 3. However, I personally would like Nintendo to be a bit more flexible with some of their price points; I certainly wouldn't buy Balloon Fight for anything less than a dollar since I think it's garbage and have no nostalgic value for it. It's good to see that some of the GBA games like Kirby & the Amazing Mirror and F-Zero Maximum Velocity are selling for cheaper than other titles, especially since a good condition copy of F-Zero's GBA cartridge can be found for only around $5.

As for Sony's pricing and account system, I doubt anyone will seriously argue that it's worse. I think the way Sony handles the PS1 classics is great; it's a cheaper alternative for a lot of games, like Vagrant Story, which generally sells anywhere between roughly $15 to $30+ if you want a used physical copy versus the PSN price of $5.99, especially with the added benefit of being able to play on multiple systems after only paying for it once.

AW is fucking awesome. I've put in around 4-5 hours already, never having played before (other than trying it briefly on my roommates GBA SP in college).

Longest tutorial ever.

Yeah, but right now you can only play them on the Vita/PS3.

If you sold your PS3, you're SOL with your PS4.

While I agree that the GBA titles could be cheaper, I find the amount of bitching about the price just so over-the-top. $7-8 is not a lot of fucking money guys, it's just...not.

It's not a lot of money for just about any game that's not a microbudget title. Is it just a mobile mindset? Anything above .99 is too much to bear? I honestly just don't get it.

Mobile gaming, crazy Steam sales, PSN...Suppose they all pile up.

Aside from several NES games (and a couple SNES ones) which are too simplistic and unremarkable to earn 5 bucks a pop, I think the prices are actually fair, if not aggressive.

Well $8 is certainly not a lot for games like Superstar Saga, Advance Wars, and Golden Sun.

I have to agree with this. The pricing seems fine to me, at least for most GBA titles. A lot of the NES titles really should be at $1 though, such as Ice Hockey, Volleyball and so forth. The biggest issue I have is the lack of first day/first week sales. Japan is getting a special discount promotion for the GBA games, so why can't we? NOA did a couple early on with Street Fighter and some other stuff, but then they just stopped. Really dumb move. I would definitely be enticed to buy more unfamiliar titles if they had some promotions, since I love retro gaming in general but have no desire to collect cartridges.

On a side note, I downloaded a bunch of stuff and the WiiU added an extra page, just as you said. I then tried deleting a bunch of stuff to see what would happen and the extra page remained intact. So if anybody wants a bit of extra space to move things around (and have some bandwidth to spare), you can just download a bunch of demos and free junk, get the extra page, and then delete it all.

Did my part.

Got stuck playin M&L though. Sogud.gif

I have a weird relationship with Advance Wars where I think it's cool and can appreciate that it's a really good game but I don't enjoy it very much at all. :P I think it was the first GBA game I ever played.

the biggest problem with VC prices is that the lesser games shoud cost less. only the very best merits the top price points (the top price points should be $1-2 lower or they could put more features like emulated online play and local multi to make them worth it)

I do find it very strange how Nintendo has arbitrarily decided their GB/GBC/GBA VC would have tiered pricing, but NES/SNES VC is all fixed. If anything, NES needs it the most.

Nintendo changing something they decided beforehand? You are crazy, sir.

Japanese players are lucky, they get Advance Wars 1&2 for the price of one GBA title :D

I think it's pretty shameful that they do not allow for multiplayer in GBA VC games despite the rather high price. At €7 even online multiplayer should've been possible.

I'm not saying it's the case for everyone, and not referring to anyone specifically, and obviously no one is going to admit it - and obviously some of the prices are unreasonable (especially considering what one can buy the actual original versions of many of the games for), but, I think some of it is the ease of finding and downloading games without paying anything for them - where people need the price to be low enough where they're alright with paying a little to go the legitimate route, as opposed to just going the other route for free.

Yep. The NES sports games shouldn't be a penny over $2.99. You'd think the price of NES games would go down after being 500 Wii Points for 8 years, but I guess not.

Well, this is kind of subjective.

Still, at a minimum there's clearly some lower tier NES and SNES games that should be much cheaper than they are. A lot of the early NES games weren't particularly deep or long, I can see SMB being $5 but Mario Bros shouldn't be, nevermind Urban Championship. So what I said about subjectivity is more for, say, FF:MQ costing the same as FFIV or VI, as all three are RPGs of reasonable length and $8's arguably a steal for at least VI anyway.

I think people don't realize that retrofitting new functionality onto old games is a lot harder than people here make it to be. If the old game wasn't ever built with that in mind, there's almost always something that makes it really hard to do. Sometimes it just gets to the point that it's easier to rewrite the whole thing and then suddenly it makes no sense anymore. Basically, if it's difficult, why add online multiplayer to old games rather than making sequels with such features?

I wonder if/when we'll get Donkey Kong Land in the West. I know it's a pretty flawed game, but I played it a ton as a kid and would love to revisit it.

Surprised to see Batman is this week... Warner Bros. said it wouldn't be before next week! (I don't remember them confirming this, however).

And *sigh*, still the same old sales on 3DS game, ha ha :p

Is that free-to-play baseball game for the 3ds even announced for europe? I really want to try that.

Baseball isn't big in Europe.

We're getting Nintendo Pocket Football Club next week instead. The US isn't getting that.

Hah, forgot we got that name for Wario Ware here.

Nintendo are all "They're not minigames, they're microgames!" then NoE is all "Bitch, please"

Oh yes, a permanent reduction on the worst port of Myst.

I do find it very strange how Nintendo has arbitrarily decided their GB/GBC/GBA VC would have tiered pricing, but NES/SNES VC is all fixed. If anything, NES needs it the most.
GBA is not tiered in Europe. All the American tiers do is make most GBA games cost $1 more. But that reminds me NES games on 3DS in the UK. The prices are all over the place some games like Devil World, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Simons Quest are £3.59 while SMB, Donkey Kong and Ninja Gaiden 2 are £4.49. Of course there are more than the £3.49 price grandfathered from 500 Wii Points on the Wii U. Which reminds me, Super Mario Bros 3 is £3.49 on 3DS.

tl;dr. NES games are tiered in the UK eShop but there is no sense applied at all (on first glance). I do not have time to check if these points apply to other eShops since it looks like a €4/€5 thing (except SMB3).

Thats not really a reason considering what for type ends up on the eShop or even at retail in europe. I want Nintendo Pocket Football Club and Rustys Real Deal Baseball.

We rarely get the nintendo baseball games. Also never got Mario Super Sluggers over in EU. But love to get both maybe they are going to announce something next direct.

So ? Its not like we often get submarine titles from Nintendo and i still got the play the new Steel Diver title here. I could see these arguments if this were a bigger retail title...bur for the eShop which is supposed to be the platform for smaller/niche titles thats a weird argument. I mean its a Baselball minigame collection - not a otaku girlfriend simulation.

Yeah i agree they have nothing to lose. It's not saying i don't want to see it so am thinking that both NOA and NOE are localizing their respective games and when it is done they going to release them. So both of them have less localizing cost and saving time. At least that is what they hope they do, gotta keep the faith.

I feel the self mandated "we must translate everything we publish into FIGS" is what is holding back Rusty and possibly that Chibi Robo game. Especially given Rustys dialogue seems to have a lot of charm going for it.

Shame Nintendo Australia can't make another human sacrifice* which got them Snapdots on DSiWare (despite its lack of release in Europe, probably due to above mandate, even though that has less than 5000 words of text) though even if they did that would not help here (for Rusty) since an NNID is required...ow the salt...

Then again it could just be a sakura samurai (and most of DSiWare) where the game took ages to come out just because...

*-Given they required a permission slip to set up a Facebook page (which is the only non-telephone method to contact that part of Nintendo, if you can call it contact) I'd assume it was something on the order of magnitude of sacrifice to get Snapdots.
