Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

That would be one hell of a typo.

Maybe he used the Smash Bros format for the hiring page? That would make this scenario possible.
Well, it could have just been a brainfart. Sometimes you're trying to type something and you see/hear something else and the wrong thing ends up on the page. Combine that with rushing to get it done for one reason or another, and you end up with Smash Bros 6.

Hey man, that Raiden guy said smash bros instead of PSASBR, so, maybe everyone just is too hype for smash bros and typed smash bros subconsciously when they meant soul calibur.

I think that scenario is likely given the 6th entry and over 10 million sales comment. Not saying it isn't.

I guess it could be a brainfart.

While it would make a lot more sense to release Smash in the fall, I wouldn't be surprised if it slipped to Spring of 2015.

I would also be very sad :'(

Anyone else have a weird feeling that they're going to show off the intro tomorrow? I do, but I'm really not sure why.

It'a gonna be like this:

1) Opens up with Sakurai saying hello
2) Reveal of Mii
3) Some small details on modes
4) 3DS/Wii U specific footage
5) "2014" release

End.

I don't know why, but I'm fully expecting a Mii reveal tomorrow, and I think that'll be it for character announcements.

Please no. I know Mii is incredibly likely (Even if we didn't have the "leak". I'm honestly surprised Mii wasn't in Brawl), but I don't want them to waste Direct time on it.

My (very reasonable) prediction for the Direct:

Opens to Iwata, who introduces the idea and begins to introduce Sakurai. "But first, take a look at this:" Mii trailer.
Cut back to Sakurai who takes charge, explaining the customization features of the Mii. He then confirms a release date, or at least a release month, which is in 2014.
Sakurai shows off some of the single player modes as well as some of the other bonus features present in each version. He alludes to, but doesn't fully describe, the compatibility features between the Wii U and 3DS version
"Next, I have a brand new trailer, delivered Directly to you." Trailer shows off several returning veterans (Ness, Wario, Yoshi, Capt. Falcon, Snake) as well as a couple of Newcomers (Andy, Palutena).
Back to Sakurai, who talks about these characters for a little bit, and then brings the watcher back to Iwata for one final announcement.
Iwata announces that, after the Direct, a demo will be available on the Wii U eShop. It is free and has an unlimited number of plays, so "make sure to have fun, it will give you a glimpse at what sort of fun you will have with the final version."
"But before you go, I have one final, very BIG, announcement."

...

Ridley trailer, the crowd (?) goes wild.

Four newcomers and five veterans is far from reasonable.

I think the main purpose of this Direct is to show something Sakurai can't properly do with daily pictures, specifically the connectivity between both versions. Also, there will probably be a new character too.

The main purpose is for Sakurai to show off his bitching Captain Falcon costume.

If the 'Customization' rumor is true, then it would make sense that he's devoting a whole direct to the mii.

I'll try to find my source for the rumor, but it basically goes that the 'Mii' is to characters what 'Stage editor' is to stages. Through gameplay (and also AR cards), you unlock items and costumes, which you can then use to edit the mii, which changes both appearances and moves. Like custom stages, you can also disable someone picking 'Mii' in case they are 'broken' or 'imbalanced.'

If the rumor is true, it requires a bit more than a short trailer or some miiverse pictures to fully explain in detail.

-the game’s single player component is an adventure mode very similar to the one found in super smash bros melee
-you can create custom mii characters with different costumes, moves and taunts, and these miis can be saved to individual slots. you can trade miis between platforms and with friends, and you can upload, download and rate miis online. most of the mii parts, like new costumes and attacks, are unlockable.
-stage builder has been greatly expanded upon and has a similar online feature set to the miis
-nintendo will be producing packs of smash bros ar trading cards with original artwork, classic art, character bios, stage descriptions, item descriptions and so on. these cards can be scanned to unlock new mii parts, stage builder parts, music, trophies and other goodies.
-august 2014 is the target release date on both platforms
from what i hear, a little bit of the above is going to be shown off next month in a nintendo direct. so i suppose that’s the best proof i can give you all for now. ignore this post in the meantime if you like, but check back in a month to see how i did. ;)

He could be wrong on the month of the direct, which might make tomorrow's direct include what the rumor said.

thats 4 months ago dude

If that rumor is true, yikes. I don't really want to go out and buy trading cards for stuff like unlockable music. Hopefully CD's are still a thing, and trading card's are just for fun.

Right, which is why I said maybe he was 'off' on the month of the direct! :p

Like kid icarus uprising, the AR cards are just a way to unlock them quicker, not the ONLY way to unlock them. That said, people can easily post AR card scans to the internet.

At the end of the page he says Little Mac would remain an assist trophy. Gotta call it a fake.
