We're living in a world where a Thor movie (The Dark World) was only $44 million away from beating a Superman movie (MoS). That's insane to me.

the first Iron Man outgrossed Batman Begins, which was in a very similar position to Man of Steel. It's not that crazy to think a movie coming off the hype of an established IP and property like Avengers would perform closely. The interesting thing will be how WB goes from here, much like TDK and TDKR dwarfed Begins once people bought into the character again.

Nah. The Russo brothers are good but they are not Joss Whedon good. I don't know what they were thinking with the sporadic use of shaky cam. That said Whedon could stand to learn a few things from the way every hit and bullet had a real sense of impact in Winter Soldier.

Snyder can be good with a good script. What needs to happen is Goyer needs to be partnered with better writers who understand... well, people. Snyder's great at visual execution and mood. He's fine when given decent footing to lift off from.

Yeah, his screenwriter from Argo is reworking Goyer's script for MoS2. Which is great. But I hope this happens more often and Goyer is given purely an "ideas-man" role at most while more talented writers tackle putting it to the page.

That's pretty dependent on there being a good Superman script more than there is a good Superman director.
Snyder's a good enough director to tell a Superman story. Goyer's maybe not the best writer to be trying to WRITE one.

Affleck trusts him enough to bring him in to give MoS2 a kick in the pants. That's gotta say something, I guess.
Either Cap moves up to this time in April or S/B move back to mid July. There are no other options, there's 3 other marvel movies that summer after Cap, there's no other spot for it. As the Avengers 2 follow up it can do $120+ OW easily. I think S/B moves to July personally and WB will say "it's to make the movie the fans deserve" or some BS like that.

Not sure what a video from almost a decade ago is meant to prove, especially considering Affleck's recent work. I look back at who I was 8 years ago and am not proud of who I was.

We'll see. He had a crack at one of the greatest comics of all time with Watchmen and couldn't knock it out of the park.
Directing. Every scene in Winter Soldier that had multiple people on screen ended up with all but two characters being nothing more then flower pots. The Russo's seemed unable to balance multiple characters interacting at the same time.
If anyone should replace Whedon in the event of his departure it should be someone like Justin Lin who can handle scenes with several characters.
Except there's a lot of problems with that...
Firstly, no one always exercises the best judgement. Secondly, he was hardly the sole problem with Daredevil. And thirdly, as I said, I'm not sure how a video from 2006 is meant to be relevant to our perception of a person today.
